Αν και στην περίπτωσή 8800 Carbon Arte το στυλ παίζει μεγαλύτερο ρόλο από την χρησιμότητα και τις δυνατότητες προκειμένου να το αγοράσει κάποιος, η Nokiaτο έχει εξοπλίσει με κάμερα 3 Megapixels, οθόνη OLED 2 ιντσών, 4GB εσωτερικής μνήμης καθώς και υποστήριξη δικτύων 3G. Θα κυκλοφορήσει μέσα στους επόμενους μήνες με τιμή που αναμένεται να ξεπεράσει τα 1100 ευρώ.

OK, everybody has their touch screen, icon driven, 3G-iPhony, "me too" device, but Nokia introduced the coolest phone of the year today. Made of carbon fiber, titanium, polished glass and stainless steel, this 3G device has a 3.2 MegaPixel camera and 4G of storage, and features a touch sensitive pad to switch from phone to clock display. But the 8800 Carbon Arte is a "lifestyle statement" at over $1600.

Es de esos terminales que da gusto tocar, abrazar con los dedos cuidadosamente y sentir los materiales de los que está fabricado, muy distintos del clásico plástico. Fibra de carbono, titanio, cristal y aluminio son los escogidos para este teléfono exclusivo de Nokia.

Lo de admirar y sentir con el tacto los materiales con los que está fabricado el Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte lo ha pensado Nokia desde el momento en que la mezcla de materiales las usa para dar relieves suaves y que nos digan algo. Al diseño y peso reducido le acompañan una serie de fondos de pantalla y sonidos exclusivos.

Los detalles técnicos también marcan el funcionamiento de este exclusivo teléfono: la hora la podemos ver en la pantalla solamente dando un toque en el cristal frontal, los fondos de pantalla van evolucionando con las horas, y podemos silenciar una llamada con el suave gesto de darle la vuelta al teléfono en la mesa.

Si has pensado que nos hemos olvidado de las especificaciones técnicas, estás casi en lo cierto. El Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte no destaca especialmente por ellas. Es un terminal 3G, con cámara de fotos de 3.2 megapíxeles, memoria interna de 4 GB, ranura para tarjetas microSD, pantalla OLED y recubrimiento especial para no dejar suciedad o huellas en su superficie.

El Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte viene con accesorios pensados para él en exclusiva, como una funda de cuero o un manos libres con controles táctiles. El precio, como habrás imaginado, no es precisamente asequible. Sin impuestos ni ayudas de las operadoras, saldrá por 1.100 euros a finales de año.

Ever since I saw the 8800 series on AT&T TDMA years ago, I've wanted one.  Nokia has seen fit to NOT upgrade anything since the original 8800 model for the North American market (the 8801).  We did not get the Sirrocco, and we aren't getting the 8800 Arte series either. 

Just a side note Nokia: how come it's only your luxury phones that you see fit to include a charging cradle.  Almost every phone from years ago had one at least available for purchase.  I bought a N95-4....you know what would be nice? If I could put this $750 "mobile computer" on a charging stand at night....that's what !!!
