It's no laughing matter.

Funnyman ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is fuming after a ringtone advertisement based on his popular comedy skit, "Achmed the Dead Terrorist," was scrubbed from South African TV because it mocks Islam.

The ringtone was taken from a puppet routine performed by Dunham, a native Texan, in a TV special on Comedy Central. A 10-minute clip of the comedian's routine that was posted on YouTube has been viewed more than 66 million times since April.

But the government of South Africa doesn't think it's funny. According to iafrica.com, South Africa's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that a GloMobile ringtone commercial featuring Dunham and his puppet was offensive to Muslims.

The commercial depicts Dunham holding his skeletal puppet, Achmed, dressed with a white cloth around his head and demanding that the audience keep quiet, uttering, "Silence! I will kill you!"

And the ASA agreed. "To associate this divine inspiration to a terrorist is offensive to the people who believe in [Muhammad]," the authority ruled. Muslims make up 2 percent of South Africa's population.

But Dunham begs to differ. In a statement to FOXNews.com, he said: "Achmed makes it clear in my act that he is not Muslim, so I'm sorry the gentleman Khan didn't see my entire show.

"I've skewered whites, blacks, Hispanics, Christians, Jews, Muslims, gays, straights, rednecks, addicts, the elderly, and my wife. As a standup comic, it is my job to make the majority of people laugh, and I believe that comedy is the last true form of free speech."

Dunham — whose other puppets include Peanut, Bubba J and Walter, a grumpy retiree — said he has no plans to retire the controversial act.

The comedian said moves like this stymie the freedom to poke fun at any group.

"I truly believe that laughter can heal many wounds," Dunham said.

In a jibe at the South African complainant's name, he said: "I thought Khan was awesome in Star Trek."

"If it would help things," he added, "I'm considering renaming Achmed, 'Bill.'"

The funny thing to me is I have seen Jeff Dunham's ENTIRE act with the Terrorist Puppet, and I FOUND IT offensive.  Maybe not offensive, but willfully ignorant.  I'm not a Muslim.  I'm barely a Catholic.  But my mother found the bit hilarious, and I remember chiding her for liking and encouraging that kind of shit.  As a ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is quite accomplished, if not for his turtlenecks the only thing you would see moving are the muscles in his neck.  However, as a writer the bits are often very simplistic (and catchy as hell, ON A STICK). 

The Achmed character however is just 'wrong' no matter which way you look at it.  For all the people who have died at the hands of suicide bombers, Americans and International victims.  The 'bit' is performed without an ounce of subtlety.

Estas son algunas de las perlas de amor que he ido recibiendo estos días, y uno es débil... el clamor popular puede contra mí.

¿Razones para esta falta de actualización? uno muy grande que además es pecado capital: PEREZA. Con esta entrada me evito futuros insultos, y de paso os hablo de un tipo que me ha molado bastante últimamente (no en ese sentido, putos desviados...).

Hace varios meses descubrí a "Achmed el Terrorista Muerto", y por consiguiente, al tío que le mete la mano por el culo: Jeff Dunham. Como sé que os dará pereza pinchar en el enlace que os he puesto, os cuelgo el vídeo otra vez:

Hace poco, y gracias a los tíos de Internet que subtitulan vídeos, he podido conocer a más amiguetes de Jeff. Así descubrí hace poco a Peanut, una especie de chimpancé púrpura tocapelotas. La actuación de Jeff es increíble porque consigue compaginar ambas voces (la de Peanut y la suya) de forma rapidísima. Aquí le tenéis:

Pero Jeff es un tío chachi, y en esa misma actuación saca a un segundo personaje: José el Jalapeño, por lo que son ya 3 voces distintas las que hace durante el número. AWESOME!!:

Pero para rematar falta un entrañable personaje, un poco narizotas, que además tiene superpoderes (o no): Melvin el superhéroe:

Penso que isto demonstra bem o estado de completa decadência deste senhor, que já está transformado numa marioneta que acredita nas coisas que vai dizendo - da mais pura propaganda possível - em relação ao país e ao seu próprio governo.

Hace tiempo me pasaron un vídeo de Jeff Dunham, un ventrílocuo Americano que al parecer es una celebridad entre los cómicos de Estados Unidos. El vídeo en cuestión, era de un esqueleto, con barba y turbante; Era Achmed, The Dead Terrorist (Achmed, el terrorista muerto).

Hacía mucho que no veía un gag de humor tan bueno, y menos en un ventrílocuo, que ya pensaba que este tipo de shows había muerto y estaba desfasado, pero me equivocaba. No es un muñeco hablando con un tipo diciendo gracias sin sentido, es más que eso, el humor es inteligente y mordaz, critica de forma "Inocente" muchas cuestiones controvertidas y se rie con descaro de otras. Me hizo reir mucho y debí ponerlo hace mucho, mucho tiempo. El vídeo en cuestión (Con subtitulos en castellano):

Wenn zum Beispiel die Mutter spät morgens um 10 zum Weckruf ins Kinderzimmer kommt und sagt: " Raus aus den Federn, die Sonne scheint, es ist ein strahlend heller Tag!" erwidert das "Gegenteilkind" trotzig: "Nein, es ist dunkel!" Oder wenn der Vater mit seiner Tochter um den großen See spazieren geht und dort 3 Enten, auf dem Wasser schwimmend, erblickt: "Schau mal da schwimmen 3 Enten." entgegnet sie: "Nein, es sind 4 Enten!" Neulich waren die Eltern in ein Gespräch vertieft in dessen Verlauf in irgendeinem Zusammenhang der arabische Name Ahmed (sprich: Achmed) fiel. Empört mischte sich die Kleine in den Dialog ein: "Das heisst nicht AchtMett, es heisst SiebenMett!"
Kinder sind herrlich, nicht wahr? :mrgreen:

Se acuerdan de aquél video de Achmed? Bueno, la cosa es que también tiene éste otro video donde aparece cantando una canción de navidad que se llama 'Jingle Bombs' (BUENÍSIMA! MUST SEE!). Al cantar llama su 'guitar guy', que resulta ser un excelente músico algo ochentero de nombre Brian Haner, que a parte de ser guitarrista, es arreglista, comediante y escritor(!).

Bueno.. Brian Haner tiene un hijo, -lo descubrí viendo éste video- de nombre Brian Elwin Haner Jr. pero con nombre artístico de Synyster Gates (?) y resulta ser el guitarrista principal de ésta Banda de la que les quiero hablar.

El Heavy no es muy mi estilo, pero debo confesar que cuando los escuché, me gustó en demacía! Tienen una forma melodíosa bastante clásica pero única, mucho mucho power y una diversidad agradablemente amplia. Su último disco llamado así -o sea, Avenged Sevenfold- tiene casi todas las canciones buenísimas. El single que luce el disco se llama 'Afterlife', que es de mis favoritas junto a Critical Acclaim y A little piece of Heaven, ésta última canción es más que excelente.. sentís como que estas viendo -si, viendo aunque estés escuchando la canción- un obra clásica... una película semi épica... una obra de arte... Es buenísima!

Les recomiendo que abran iTunes y se descargen el disco... está buenísimo! aunq no sean amantes del metal, son buenas buenas canciones para escucharlas en medio del laburo diario para agarrar speed.
