Firefox 3 released today!

Although this blog has nothing to do with XNA Games/Gaming, I still wanted to notify people on the release of Firefox 3. This latest release by Mozilla is the greatest yet. A lot of features have been added and a lot of bugs have been fixed. One thing that is still an issue : the memory usage.

Even though XNA is not a browser based framework (at least not yet), you could try to run XNA games on browsers. Check this post out on CodeProject.

Online ClickOnce and Forms Authentication

A co-worker of mine and I had to bash our brains together to come up with a solution in order to save a multi million dollar deal from collapsing. The culprit of this fixit-fixit-fixit power session was ClickOnce being unable to handle Windows Authentication to an internet site from the browser. Usually this occurs with a XBAP hosted in IIS, in our case it was a XBAP hosted in ISA.

Submissions must be made between: July 1, 2008 and August 31, 2008

For Whom:
The competition is open to software development professionals and enthusiasts who are of the age of majority in their jurisdiction. Residents of following coountries are ineligible to participate: Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria.

The aim of the contest is to write an application that implements the 1971 Star Trek game in whatever manner you feel like. You can use technology which you haven't tried before or the one you are comfortable or the one that is totally inappropriate and bend it to your will.

How to Enter:
Write your Star Trek™ game and post it in the Game Development section where CodeProject.com members will be able to vote on your article. The article entries that are highest-rated by members will then be evaluated by CodeProject judges to determine the final winners.

The article posted must follow the regular CodeProject.com article Guiidelines and formats.
The article should include screen shots and code samples.
The article must implement the 'Star Trek' game
The article must be posted in the Game Development Section on the Code Project

It's official. I've received the blessing of Rohit Joshi to continue his work on his C# IMAP client library he posted over at codeproject.

I've created a project at codeplex to host the library and its code. You can find it here: http://www.codeplex.com/InterIMAP

Some major features that i will be adding to the library include:

Complete object model for folders, messages, content (including attachments)
Support for SSL connections (Complete)
Support for saving file attachments to the file system, or any other Stream
Support for getting the list of folders on the server and getting the UIDs of the messages in each folder
Being able to do all of the above with a few API calls as possible
The ability to send a raw IMAP command to the server and retrieve the response. Useful for customizing the behavior of the library.

I am really excited about this opportunity to contribute to the open-source community. Hopefully people will find this library useful and maybe help contribute to it and make better.

Codeproject confirmation

Kemarin saya mengunjungi codeproject untuk mencari komponen customize progressbar. Biasanya komponen - komponen itu adanya di menu miscelaneous, tapi saya tidak menemukannya. Rupanya codeproject sudah melakukan perubahan kategori pada menu. Saya coba di menu Languages -> VB.NET dan menemukan beberapa kategori artikel lagi disana, seperti general, utilities, dan lain-lain beserta link artikelnya.

Akhirnya saya tidak jadi mencari progressbar dan lebih tertarik pada komponen Status Label. Saya klik download source codenya dan gagal. Ternyata belum login. OK deh login dulu, terus kembali mengunduh, eh masih gagal juga. Codeproject menuduh saya tidak pernah melakukan konfirmasi terhadap mail-mail yang dia kirimkan ke hotmail account saya.

Saya memang tidak pernah membuka hotmail sejak punya account di yahoo, secara tidak ada masalah gitu dengan codeproject dan masih bisa download. OK deh saya register ulang dengan mengisi username dan alamat mail saya.

Di page register terlihat bahwa terakhir mengedit halaman itu adalah pada tahun 2002!. Wow, saya tidak sadar lama sekali. Sejak masih tahun pertama kuliah dan codeproject hanya membolehkan user dengan mail hotmail yang boleh mendaftar.

Selesai register dengan alamat mail yahoo sayapun bisa bebas download lagi. Tapi kok masih ga bisa juga?. Yaah, internetnya payah :(.
