NIGHT'S BLESSING

At the end of the day

            When the sun's last ray

                        Is just a sliver of light

Darkness starts to descend

            To signal day's end

                        And the earth nods into night

Day's fragrance is rent

            By night's earthly scent

                        Daylight beds down with a yawn

As dusk takes away

            The heat of the day

                        The curtain of night is drawn

Heaven's jewels wink down

            From their heavenly crown

                        The landscape's kissed by the moon

While the frogs and bugs

            On their lily pad rugs

                        Compose a melodious tune

Fireflies wing by

            As the breeze gives a sigh

                        Birds settle down for the night

While an owl in a tree

            Winks flirtatiously

                        Then spreads his wings in flight

A cloud in the sky

            Drifts lazily by

                        And then it shadows the moon

That strange mournful plea

            Near a lakeside tree

                        Is just the call of a loon

Like strings of wee beads

            On webs in the weeds

                        Dew jewels silken threads

Flowers here and there

            Bow crowns as in prayer

                        Nodding their beautiful heads

As night settles down

            She puts on her gown

                        To cloak earth's sleepy breast

For it's part of God's plan

            And a blessing to man

                        That we're given this time of rest

It's awesome how the neon aways radiates in a dusky setting.  People snap these shots all the time, so I don't feel incredibly accomplished. I'm not out for an art grant, it's just a really cool setting.

After all, isn't a sunset mostly about color? Color is the primary here. Isn't it simply distracting and unnecessary to force detail into something that I most likely want to be a silhouette anyway?

Not to contradict myself (though I may), but the next picture (a different frame) I feel needs the bit of detail right in the foreground. Overall I'm undecided on whether I like the picture, but I'm pretty sure that without the detail in the front, it'd be crap. Might be a depth thing.

Palmito and I haven't been going anywhere lately, but today I accompanied my mentor when she went out to do the laundry. The sun was setting and the view at the bay was so lovely, that we took a picture:

We have still not heard from poor Rosemary --she's still in The Netherlands as far as we know. Our mentor told me today she plans to send Rosemary's host a postcard begging for her safe return. We sure do miss her and keep hoping she'll come back to us one day!

Thursday night's set at Root Down at Little Temple Bar in Los Angeles, was to be an hour of hip hop videos. I've been Wolf's little blond shadow this week, following him from club to club. So, I was curious to see what he would break out to wow this crowd of uber hip hop fans. I feared it would be a bit like throwing Wolf to the lions.

With a fervent line snaking around Virgil Avenue, the mood was palpable. These lions wanted beats and wanted them bad. A capacity crowd, which included veteran and legend 9th Wonder, crammed themselves into the tiny room to see what Peanut Butter brought.

As PB stepped up to the mic, the crowd surged forward.

"So far, seven days and I'm here, rocking the same white tee shirt and the same Dodger hat...and I didn't even know that we got Manny." A few cheers were heard from fresh Manny Ramirez fans, but the rest of the crowd wanted music.

With a shout out to Dilla to kick things off, Wolf masterfully blended videos new and old, mixing flicks by Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang, and Method Man, with oldies by KRS One and De La Soul. Lest there be neophytes in the audience, he dropped hits by House of Pain, Onyx, and the Beastie Boys, but also broke out MOP, Leaders of the New School, and for the lovers of a high fade, Whistle's 'Just Buggin'.

The crowd was brimming with the kind of excitement only seen in kids on Christmas morning...that or the dudes in line at Best Buy the night before the premiere of the new Halo. However, the greatest testament to Wolf's set was the complete joy on the faces of his peers. 9th Wonder, Jedi and Rhettmatic cheered him on, rapped along and peppered his scratches with shout outs.

Wolf finaled his hour long set with a video by Breakestra, featuring Root Down promoter, and Breakestra founder Music Man Miles. He stopped to mention that though he promised to play all hip hop, Breakestra and DJ Dusk were masterful enough to blend funk, soul, latin and jazz and expand the ears of hip hop fans everywhere. So with that testament and a shout out to Dusk, Dilla and Charizma, Wolf ended with some Ruben Blades.

"Damn, it's hot in here." PBW exclaimed as he left the stage. "I think I lost five pounds." Likewise, the capacity crowd who stayed and sweated to the end, probably lost a combined ton in water weight. But that was just an added bonus to a night of electric sweat on the decks.

Oh and a side note - Wolf wasn't wearing the actual same white t-shirt for the past 7 days. Just like his week of 888 spinning, Peanut Butter Wolf smells like roses.

I really like this time of day, when it's neither day or night, here nor there. It's as if everything stops for a moment, and the ephemeral quality feels like it could last forever. Like a Michael Nyman composition, it evokes unplaced feelings.

About the title, I didn't really know what to put so I looked at my pictures and noticed some were taken in the morning, the evening, and around dusk time so thats how I came up with it^^ These pictures weren't exactly taken today so thats why you don't see "Dawn to Dusk" transformation..hopefully the next one will^^ But what Dawn to Dusk is is pictures I took throughout the day leading from morning to very late evening, anywhere and random. Most of the pictures you see here are taken in my back or front yard^^

I don't have a Tripod so all pictures are taken by hand so sorry for the unsteady blurry shots:/ Anyways like with Danny's great articles in photo walks, I might as well talk about stuff too rather then just showing my photography. So here I am, age 15 and in Sarasota, Jobless, and struggling with my family to pay bills. Ever since my dad lost his job things have been going downhill. He got a new job but it only pays I think 7.75 an hour which sucks. Hopefully we will get back on our feet soon:/ That is why I don't really get a lot of stuff, only like every month, sometimes 2 weeks, but anyways yeah so sorry for my viewers if I can't feed you the things you want, I made this blog for you guys, it's my responsibility to make you have fun when your here and I don't feel I'm accomplishing my duty right:( I'm sorry to everyone, please forgive me for my poverty, but I promise once I get a job I will significantly make updates and make the blog a funner place for everyone:D

This Summer has been awesome, probably the best I've ever had. Even though I didn't really get anything cool, or get to eat at fancy restaurants, or go on vacations, or go to some special event, I was still happy:) Just shows that you don't need all that stuff to be happy and content:) I don't know I just felt warm and uplifted this summer, I felt more energized and joyful and proud for some reason, I don't know it's strange, the sun looks sunnier, the grass looks more vibrant green, the sky is more bluer, the clouds are fluffier, I don't know maybe nature is getting better or something:) With two more weeks until school starts summer for me is practically over with *Those who are going to the Wonfest are lucky;)*

My second question is: Did you enjoy the summer? Did you go anywhere special or get anything special?

Write until your hearts content *or fingers are tired XD* I want to hear everything from you, it lets us better understand each others feelings and we grow a bond:) That's what this post *and soon to be post* are about, to express your feelings and let us know how your life is. What your going through, good or bad:) It's a lot funner talking about life stuff instead of just Anime or Gundam all the time^^ So there will be a good flow of articles once I get myself a job k;) For now just hang in there and visit every once in a while, I think i'm getting a figure this week or the next so come back:)

I took a traditional driving vacation a couple of weeks ago. The first stop was Washington, DC where I was fortunate enough to witness a beautiful sunset over the National Mall. This photo was taken about 30 minutes after sunset.

Editor's Note: I know I'm a bit behind. I had a LOT of photos to process after returning from vacation and some projects which needed my attention. I'll make up for it over the next week so I'll get back on my weekly schedule.
