8. Making up: Woody Guthrie - This Land Is Your Land (Jag kommer aldrig mer att anlita snubben/jäntan som väljer ut vilka låtar som ska vara med...)
9. Seeing an old love: Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man (Jaja, lite Stones kan man väl gå med på, för sakens skull.)
10. Heartbreak: John Lenin (Johan Johansson) - Vi Kommer Aldrig Fram (Tja, lyssnar man enbart på titeln, så... visst, det funkar. Men nu är det ju så att en låt är mer än en titel...)

18. Angry drunken stupor: Denis Leary - More Drugs (Stand-up comedy som soundtrack, det var nåt nytt.)
19. Walking alone in the rain/snow: Edguy - Land Of Miracle (Faktiskt rätt så passande, rent musikaliskt, och lite textmässigt också.)

Como até agora eu não toquei nesse assunto, vou aproveitar o fato de que eu vou em um show muito bom amanhã para começar.

Que show? - você pergunta. E eu respondo: Avantasia.

Pois é gente, o Avantasia começou sua primeira turnê (algo que parecia impossível) e vem ao Brasil para uma única apresentação (mais impossível ainda, não?). A maioria das pessoas não conhece a banda, mas realmente deveriam. A música deles é classificada como metal sinfônico ou metal ópera e seus músicos são extremamente competentes. (e lindos)

"É um projeto musical idealizado por Tobias Sammet, vocalista e principal compositor da banda de heavy metal alemã Edguy; seu nome é a junção de duas palavras: Avalon (local místico nas histórias do Rei Arthur) e Fantasia (terra fictícia, criada para o filme A História sem Fim). Trata-se da reunião de integrantes de diversas bandas para a gravação de um álbum de Heavy Metal. Com tantos músicos, de tantas bandas diferentes, parecia impossível sair em turnê. Porém, no começo deste ano, eles lançaram "The Scarecrow", que não conta com tantos músicos quanto os dois "Metal Opera". Esse disco não segue a mesma linha dos anteriores; há quem diga ser comercial. Eu discordo completamente. Embora tenha músicas melosas como "Carry Me Over", o disco conta com outras ótimas como "Twisted Mind" e "The Scarecrow".

Al parecer, la explicación de esta foto es sencilla: el grupo y el "vocalista" coincidieron en un hotel y, ya que la madre de Joey DeMaio, éste le pidió a Bertín una foto para enviársela a ella. Por cierto, ahora que me paro a pensar, o Bertín es muy alto, o Manowar son muy bajos xD (Nota: a pesar de todo, me gustan Manowar, que conste xD).

Y, por último, Edguy, éste sí uno de mis grupos favoritos, con...

David Hasselhoff. Tengo que reconocer que de estos si que me lo esperaba xD Además, salen partiendose el culo y poniendo caras raras, como de costumbre xD

Según he visto, la foto posiblemente se haría en el "backstage" de un programa de televisión en el que la banda coincidieron con el actor-presentador-semidios (xD).

Y hasta aquí este extraño post... posiblemente habríais visto algunas de estas fotos, o es posible que también no os suenen la mitad de grupos pero... quién los conozca entenderá lo extraño de la situación xD

I just got into Edguy about 2 years ago. I was looking for CDs at FYE and stumbled across Rocket Ride. A sticker on the cover said something like "for fans of Scorpions, Judas Priest, and KISS". It was only $10 or so, so I picked it up. I loved it, I went and bought more Edguy and loved those albums too. So here I am now, a loyal follower of Edguy frontman Tobias Sammet, so I picked up his latest solo project's offering.

Avantasia, for all intents and purposes, is basically Sammet himself writing the songs and then bringing in friends to play and share vocals on it. This is the third Avantasia release, I've only head bits and pieces of the first two (The Metal Opera and The Metal Opera Part II) but I've never gotten around to getting them.

Anyway, I heard "Lost in Space" and "Carry Me Over" online and that was enough to make me want this album. A lot of fans are claiming Sammet "sold out" with his look and a few songs here (most notably the two I mentioned), the're saying he's trying to be the next Bon Jovi. Tobias has addressed these complaints and dismissed them. What's wrong with writing catchy rock/pop songs? It's not like there's not enough metal to go around on the rest of the album.

I knew upon a second listening to this album when it was originally release that it was already going to be one the year's best, despite that fact that it was released in January. You simply have to hear "The Scarecrow" is one of the most epic and awesome songs ever, seriously, I think it's one of the greatest songs EVER. It gives me chills, especially Jorn Lande's vocals. Amazing job.

Sammet has become one of my favorite vocalists as well. I was listening to an early Edguy album a few weeks ago and he's really grown as a singer. Soaring vocals, man!

Guest appearances abound! Just to name a few: Rudolf Schenker, Kai Hansen, Michael Kiske, Jorn Lande, and Alice Cooper.

Το μυαλό απλά δεν ξεκολλάει από αυτό. Μακάρι να πάνε όλα καλά, και να μην έχουμε τις συνηθισμένες ακυρώσεις (βλ. In Flames, Athens Open Air), και επιτέλους να απολαύσω τον Warrel Dane να ωρύεται και απο κοντά. :D

Twisted Mind: Una cancion pues no tan entretenida, pero no por eso mala, sin embargo hubiera preferido algo más rápido para iniciar con este album. haciendola una cancion genérica y no tan sobresaliente como lo fue The Seven Angels o Reach out for the Light en los anteriores albums, excepto por el toque medio-orientales de los riffs que tiene de base la canción.
The Scarecrow: Esta me hizo recordar mucho a The Piper Never Dies de Edguy, pues es una cancion bastante tranquila, pero con una atmosfera bastante agradable, y un intercambio de voces muy bueno, y al igual que Piper, cuenta con una parte bastante cañera casi al final de la cancion.
Shelter from the Rain: La agresividad comienza, Cancion en donde se nota la presencia de Michael Kiske, además de unos solos de guitarra muy buenos a media cancion, lo que me hace pensar que debería llamarse mejor algo así como Shredding from the Rain, Muy buena
Carry me over: Una balada, pues medio aburrida, y algo repetitiva.
What Kind of Love: Al inicio esta cancion suena prometedora, pero luego me doy cuenta que no es mas que una balada ála Celine Dion, además de que no tiene ni siquiera una guitarra que le devuelva el interés. aburridona, espero poder digerirla despues de algunas escuchadas mas. Por lo pronto solo puedo decir que no me gusto.
Another Angel Down: Por fin, regresa la velocidad! Contenida tambien en el sencillo Lost In Space I, esta cancion le devuelve la vida a este album, despues de 2 baladas seguidas. Me hace recordar otra vez a Edguy, pero a alguna cancion de su album Rocket Ride. se conserva como una de las mas interesantes.
The Toy Master: Otra canción con toques egipcios, que con vocalizaciones extrañamente "creepy" que me hace recordar a temas de King Diamond , y hechos nada mas y nada menos que por el grandioso Alice Cooper, y una melodia algo lenta, puede resultar aburrida en un principio,, pero lo que uno no sabe es que se va a encontrar con una parte bastante cañera a la mitad de la canción, lo cual complementa perfectamente la lentitud con que inicia. Muy buena.
Devil in the Belfry: Excelente shredding al inicio! ademas de tener riffs bastante interesantes que me hicieron recordar a The Bells of the Seven Hells de Helloween, o a lo mas reciente de Mystic Prophecy, bastante buena y cañera.
Cry just a little: Por fin una balada interesante, donde se ve que si le ponen sentimiento y por fin !guitarras!, y no se dedican solamente a repetir infinitamente un mismo coro. Buena melodia y buen puente. además de buen acompañamiento de teclado.
I Don't Believe in your love: Por el nombre, pense que se iba a tratar de otra balada más, pues no, esta cancion tiene un ritmo medio, y muy buena musicalización. las guitarras están donde deben estar, y las voces ni se diga, son muy buenas.
Lost in Space: No se si por el nombre o por la musica, pero la primera vez que escuche esta cancion me hizo recordar mucho a los temas del Space Metal de Arjen Lucassen. Como todo sencillo, esta es pegajosa (Maldita frase "How could I know"), y tiene que gustarle a un amplio rango de personas, por lo que se pierde un poco de agresividad, y tiene un exceso de post-produccion. pero al final no esta tan mal a pesar de su falta de revoluciones por minuto.

Conclusion:

Despues de la primera escuchada, me parecio un disco algo lento comparado con los 2 anteriores, sin embargo lo suficientemente entretenido, quizá quitando alguna balada entre What kind of love o Carry me over, sonaría mucho mejor de lo que actualmente suena. Otro aspecto en lo que no falla este disco es en la brillantez tanto musical como lírica que Tobias Sammet le plasma a sus discos.
Y aunque quizá esta por debajo de la brillantez de los primeros dos Avantasia, me invitó a seguirlo escuchando, garantizándome que Sammet sigue todavía por el camino de Acero. Por lo que en un futuro próximo, éste post podrá ser editado.

Como la discografía de scorpions, ahora les traigo la discografia de edguy desde 1997 con el Kingdom of Madness, hasta el Rocket Ride del pasado 2005, pasando por algunos recopilatorios, las rarezas del "hall of flames", el "burning down..." y un par de EP´s, cada disco en alta calidad y supervisados personalmente por un servidor, en los foros de metalminos.

Cel putin acum ma intelegeti de ce m-am indreptat pe 3 noiembrie catre festivalul de muzica metal dedicat aniversarii a 20 de ani a casei de discuri Nuclear Blast cu sentimente contradictorii. Agathodaimon si Benediction nu se afla in topul preferintelor mele, de fapt nu se afla printre preferatii mei deloc. Sa fiu sincera, nu aveam asteptari prea mari nici de la tinerele formatii din Bulgaria, Overdawn si The Revenge Project. Asa ca am mers pentru Edguy si intr-o oarecare masura pentru Amorphis.
