O artigo de hoje ensina como executar a calculadora do Windows via macro do Excel.

Você pode fazer da seguinte maneira:

Insira, na própria planilha do Excel, um botão de comando (CommandButton1), clique com o botão direito sobre ele e escolha a opção "propriedades". Altere a propriedade caption para "Abrir Calculadora". Feche a janela propriedades. Agora dê um duplo clique no botão de comando para abrir o ambiente de código do VBA. Surgirá uma subrotina Click para ser executada ao evento clicar deste botão, então digite assim:

Shell "Calc",  vbNormalFocus

Err_Exit:

I also started the first of a pair of posts on possible ways to boost take up of future versions of Excel. I wondered aloud about the impact of MS adding some community add-ins in the box when they release the next Excel.

On Saturday in the second part I asked whether people thought MS recruiting from community experts would enhance their expectations for future versions. And whether that might lead to improved uptake.

oh and in the comments I got accused of posting nothing but 'Ribbon sucks' posts and the blog being little more than an anti ribbon crusade. FFS! and to cap it all there was very little debate about the issues I was trying to raise as possible way to improve things for the future.

Hands up, I did have the odd pop at the FAIL UI (tm) on the way through, one or two sentences here and there, but always in context.

Now I hate to pander to the lowest common denominator, and I particularly dislike mob rule but equally I want to maintain the SOS blog integrity. I hope we all come here to discuss professional spreadsheet issues and not just vent about the ribbon (for or against). Unfortunately it seems some folks can't see past a single sentence in a whole post, if it could be construed as negative towards their beloved UI.

Heres what I'm thinking - I'll try to cut back on the digs (hard - its so easy) and I'd really like it if we can isolate most the future ribbon related comments in one area.

To that end I have set up this page here, and got the ball rolling...

Agar script perl bisa membaca file XLS, maka diperlukan modul tambahan sbb:

1. Module-Build (jika belum diinstall secara default, diperlukan untuk meng-compile dan install modul-modul lainnya dibawah ini)
2. Spreadsheet::ParseExcel;
3. OLE-Storage
4. IO-stringy

Installasi Modul

Agak rumit tapi bisa. Rumitnya karena modul-modul tersebut belum ada package nya sehingga tidak bisa diinstall menggunakan Yum dan kawan-kawan.

Jadi masing-masing modul harus diinstall secara manual menggunakan Makefile yang terdapat di masing-masing source code module tersebut.

Langkah pertama adalah download modul ybs. Misalnya Spreadsheet::ParseExcel. Lokasi downloadnya dapat dicari dari search.cpan.org. Cari nama modul di kolom search. Kemudian lihat di bagian Download link (di sebelah kanan halaman).

Copy link tersebut lalu download menggunakan program download yang anda sukai, misalnya wget.

# wget http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/S/SZ/SZABGAB/Spreadsheet-ParseExcel-0.33.tar.gz

Jika sudah berhasil download, maka extract file tersebut ke sembarang direktori.

# tar xvfpz Spreadsheet-ParseExcel-0.33.tar.gz

Lalu masuk ke direktori hasil extract:

# cd Spreadsheet-ParseExcel-0.33

Baca cara installnya pada file README (atau INSTALL).  Menurut file tersebut, cara installnya ada beberapa model:

        make
        make test

Baris 1, adalah pemanggilan modul Spreadsheet::Excel. Baris 2 adalah pendefinisian object variabel yang merepresentasikan pemroses file Excel. Baris 3 mendefinisikan Workbook Excel yang hendak dibaca yang nama filenya ditentukan diparameter.

Baris 4 adalah definisi variabel lokal yang akan digunakan selama proses pembacaan file yaitu: $iR indeks baris, $iC indeks kolom, $oWkS suatu worksheet, dan $oWkC suatu cell.

Baris 5 adalah looping untuk setiap worksheet yang ada pada file Excel yang dibaca. Baris 6 untuk setiap worksheet yang terbaca, simpan referensinya ke variabel $oWkS.

Baris 7 looping untuk setiap baris yang terdapat pada worksheet yang sedang dibaca dimulai dari baris yang paling kecil ($oWkS->{MinRow}) sampai dengan baris terakhir ( $oWkS->{MaxRow} ). Yang dilakukan setiap looping baris adalah membaca isi cell pada baris tersebut, yaitu dengan cara  $oWkS->{Cells}[$iR][0] seperti pada baris 10 dan 11, dimana array yang kedua (dalam hal ini 0) adalah indeks kolom pada baris tersebut, dimulai dari 0.

Terakhir adalah mengambil nilai pada cell tersebut dengan cara memanggil properti Value object cell seperti pada baris 12.

Typically, though, as I did today, I sleep through most of Meet the Press, and the first half of This Week. But I was on my second cup of coffee by GPS, where the guest was Bill Gates.

Bill Gates is more worried about the state of US high school education than he is about the financial markets. He sees that thing as a short term correction, and believes the actual economy, drive by ideas and innovation, shows signs of recent improvement.

Besides, he did not say, regardless of how you think derivatives should be marked for accounting purposes, you're still going to do that with Excel.

(Say what you will about Microsoft, for my money, Excel si still the most functional spreadsheet program on the market, and the only reason to plunk down $$ on MS Office. If it doesn't come bundled with XL, you might as well download OpenOffice.)

Having played around some with Open Office, I can tell you that I have to go back to Excel to make complex character sheets, and the word processor has an annoying habit of trying to finish my words for me. Whatever algorithm they're using to guess what I'm trying to type has poor luck predicting the syntax of roleplaying game rules. The outline functions are frustrating me too, but that may still be a learning curve issue.

Hey, Pakistan has a new head spy. Amidst all the drama about the financial meltdown and the antics of Sarah Palin, the post which may have the most direct impact on the battle against al Qaida changed hands. Who knew? Well the AP, of course, and the Sepia Mutiny, for those who don't want to rely upon CNN for the 30 seconds of coverage the most volatile and heavily armed region of the world gets in the average US 24 hour newscycle.

Embora semelhante com uma planilha já apresentada, agora a diferença é que para a soma ser realizada, deve ser satisfeitos dois critérios ao mesmo tempo, no caso, as vendas serem no mês de Fevereiro e o Vendedor ser o José. Para isso fizemos uma pequena planilha abaixo, repetindo o rótulo/cabeçalho da planilha acima (Mês e Vendedor), pois serão estes os critérios a serem considerados para soma, ficando na célula C11 a seguinte fórmula:

=BDSOMA(A1:C9;"Vendas";A10:B11)

Onde:

• A1:C9 é o banco de dados (selecionando, inclusive, seus cabeçalhos) que será considerado para avaliação dos critérios e escolha do campo a ser somado;
• "Vendas" é o rótulo do campo (coluna do bando de dados) que se quer considerar seus registros para soma, caso correspondam satisfatoriamente aos critérios a seguir.
• A10:B11 é a tabela de critérios com as indicações dos rótulos do campos (Mês e Vendedor) e embaixo o valor que se deseja em cada um (Fevereiro e José, respectivamente).

Assim, satisfeitos os critérios apontados na fórmula, será somado na célula C11 o valor de 350, conforme se observará.

Carpe diem.

Se fosse necessária apenas somar as vendas de um determinado vendedor, por exemplo Pedro, a fórmula com a função SOMASE seria a seguinte, na céluar C10:

=SOMASE(B2:B8;"Pedro";C2:C8)

Onde:

• B2:B8 é o intervalo onde seria buscado o critério "Pedro"
• "Pedro" (entre aspas, porque é texto) é o critério e poderia, ao invés da descrição, informada a referência do critério.
• C2:C8 é o intervalo soma, ou seja, o intervalo que terá suas células que estão no mesmo alinhamento das do intervalo B2:B8, sendo as que corresponderem ao critério, serão somadas, no caso, C2 e C6, totalizando 200, no resultado desta fórmula.

Mas, se, no caso, for necessário informar mais de um critério para somar atendendo a um ou ao outro, então, a saída é somar com o uso do SOMASE agora com o outro critério. No caso, se desejado a soma das vendas de Pedro e Paulo, a fórmula na célula C10 será:

=SOMASE(B2:B8;"Pedro";C2:C8) + SOMASE(B2:B8;"Paulo";C2:C8)

Onde:

• =SOMASE(B2:B8;"Pedro";C2:C8), já comentado, faz a soma das células com correspondência do vendedor Pedro; e
• + SOMASE(B2:B8;"Paulo";C2:C8) acrescenta a somatória das células com correspondência do vendedor Paulo.

This new database paradigm is memory rather than disk centric, with the disk-based element acting as an archive/backup/restore mechanism which can easily be stored on commodity SAN devices ( e.g. Amazon's ESB). Using MapReduce technology Google effectively holds the whole Internet in memory, not in one big super computer but in lots of cheap commodity servers.

But it's not just in the realm of mega datasets that RAM based databases threaten traditional models. Excel is a memory-based database engine, so too in-memory OLAP tools such as Palo. Such products' ability to handle large volumes of data has increased over the years, with the decrease in RAM costs and the appearance of cheap 64 bit machines (which are no longer limited to 2G/3G process working sets).

That doesn't mean that we'll throw away SQL databases in their entirety, SQL and the relational model will continue to be useful. But perhaps of greater use in local datastores/caches that as the building blocks for large scale datastores. For such local caches, less will be more; fewer features, easier to configure, more flexibility. That's why I like SQLite; long after the dinosaurs of the database world have disappeared, I imagine SQLite databases will continue to survive, embedded in mobile phones, browsers, wherever a local datastore is required. And more than likely operating in memory rather than off disk.

By combining Excel with an in-memory SQLite database, linked to a Palo OLAP in-memory server, it's possible to take advantage of three powerful data-processing technologies (spreadsheets, SQL, multi-dimensional cubes) all within your PC's RAM. You could do serious datasmithing with such a combination on a pretty mediocre laptop, with most modern machines providing an excess of CPU power, no need for super fast disks, just as much memory as you can muster. And, with Windows on EC2, these three amigos will soon be capable of being used as a cloud bursting platform.

Excel, SQLite and Palo, my data trinity.

Excel har en del begreper knyttet til seg, og det er viktig at elevene forstår de ulike begrepene. Rad, kolonne og celle er begreper det er naturlig å forklare i den første økten med Excel, og at hver eneste celle i regnearket (som er nokså stort!) har sitt eget navn gitt ut fra hvilken rad og kolonne den befinner seg i. Det er viktig å venne seg til å bruke cellenavnene, da det er cellene som forenkler og styrer regneoperasjonene vi gjør i Excel. Enhver utregning som skal gjøres må begynne med et likhetstegn.

Min erfaring er at veldig mange elever ikke vet hva Excel er, og hva det brukes til, før de kommer på mellomtrinnet. Noen har kanskje åpnet programmet på datamaskinen av ren nysgjerrighet, men Excel er ikke et slikt program som er enkelt for barn å finne ut av helt på egenhånd, slik som for eksempel tegneprogrammer ofte er, og dermed har de lukket programmet igjen. Men når de først har fått en liten innføring i Excel, synes de det er et morsomt program å utføre matematikkoppgaver i. Og de fleste oppgaver i matematikkfaget kan faktisk løses i Excel.

The sad thing is that some of that information was indeed in the records, just not in a useful way.  Anyone who has any role in the production of a film can be listed in a record if the cataloger felt so inclined at the time, but their roles are never assigned and it's not considered essential information so it only appears sporadically.  

Which officially makes our catalogs less powerful than the IMDB, Google, and the spreadsheet I cobbled together in excel for my own collection.  And don't think that dvd's are a unique example, this is par for the course.  Using a catalog try to find comics written but not drawn by Frank Miller, novels written by the actual V.C. Andrews, or a collection containing the Raven by Edgar Allen Poe.

These are all useful, fairly everyday searches that are impossible to conduct using the catalog alone.  And we these are pieces of software we're paying small ransoms for, which are all the while becoming more and more obsolete.  And to make maters worse, we can accept a large amount of the blame for this ourselves.  While we're debating the practicalities of FRBR and RDA and generally aren't getting anywhere with a great deal of speed LibraryThing is merrily marching on with less than a dozen people on staff and have been implementing exactly these sorts of things monthly.

Why can't we do the same with the resources that come from the rest of the profession?

In Excel abbiamo la possibilità, molto utile, di variare le dimensioni delle righe o/e delle colonne. Quando apriamo Excel il foglio di lavoro ha le celle con le dimensioni preimpostate ad un dato valore. Di seguito vi spiego due modalità per modificare larghezza e altezza secondo le vostre esigenze; la prima in modalità "fanni fitu" ;) (non conosco il dialetto genovese...), la seconda in modalità esatta...
Come? seguitemi...

Aprire Excel

Per la riga:

Modalità fanni fitu:

1) con il mouse andate su uno dei bordi della riga da modificare
2) il puntatore del mouse si trasforma in una freccia bidirezionale in senso verticale, più o meno come l'immagine.

3) tenendo premuto il tasto sinistro del mouse trascinate in su o in giù.
4) una linea tratteggiata vi indicherà l'altezza, rilasciate il mouse quando vi l'altezza vi sembra giusta per il vostro lavoro.

Modalità esatta:

1) selezionate la riga o una cella della riga da modificare.
2) cliccate su: Formato > Riga > Altezza
3) si aprirà una finestrella di dialogo Altezza Riga.
4) all'interno vedrete il valore preimpostato, scrivete direttamente il valore, ad esempio 20. Il nuovo valore prende il posto senza dover cancellare.
5) cliccate su OK.

Per la colonna.

Modalità fanni fitu:

1) andate su uno dei bordi della colonna, ad esempio sul trattino che divide la colonna B dalla colonna C.
2) il puntatore del mouse si trasforma in freccia bidirezionale come per la riga ma in senso orizzontale. Vedi immagine:

3) Tenendo premuto il tasto sinistro del mouse trascinate verso destro o verso sinistra.
4) Rilasciate il mouse quando vi sembra che la larghezza sia quella desiderata.

Modalità esatta:

1) selezionate la colonna o una cella della colonna da modificare.
2) cliccate su: Formato > Colonna > Larghezza
3) si aprirà una finestrella di dialogo Larghezza colonne.
4) all'interno vedrete il valore preimpostato, scrivete direttamente il valore, ad esempio 10. Anche in questo caso il nuovo valore prende il posto senza dover cancellare.
5) cliccate su OK.
6) la colonna avrà una larghezza diversa rispetto alle altre.

Colocar unidades nos resultados

Muitos de nós já nos perguntámos: "Será que o Excel não permite colocar as unidades na própria célula do valor?"

Geralmente o que se faz é colocar uma célula extra para as unidades, o que não dá lá muito jeito. O que se obtém com isso é o seguinte:

Ora, para por as unidades na célula do valor faz-se da seguinte forma:

1º Clicar na célula com o botão direito do rato, seleccionar formatar célula

2º Seleccionar Numeroe em seguida escolher Personalizado

3º Onde diz tipo colocar 0 "unidade" ou 0,00 "unidade" etc..

Onde: 0,00 Varia consoante o numero de casas decimais que se pretende

Exemplos    0,00 "m"vai aparecer 2,23 m

                      0,0"Kg"vai aparecer 2,2 Kg

E é só isto depois deste pequeno trabalhinho tem o resultado final

Problem wyglądał następująco - nie można założyć nowego arkusza, bo występuje jakiś błąd. Ponieważ problemu nie dało rady rozwiązać zdalnie musiałem iść na spacer. Rzeczywiście podczas zakładania arkusza i wpisywania jego nazwy jako "Sierpień" pojawiał się komunikat:

Nie można nadać arkuszowi nazwy, którą posiada już inny arkusz, obiekt biblioteki lub skoroszyt, do którego występuje odwołanie w języku Visual Basic.

Najpierw sprawdziłem, czy w tym pliku występuje arkusz o takiej samej nazwie. Nie było go. Wobec tego zmieniłem nazwę arkusza na "Sierpien" (czyli zamieniłem polską literkę ń na n). Poszło. No to jeszcze raz zmieniam na "Sierpień". Znowu błąd. Sprawdziłem nazwę pliku, czy czasem ten plik nie nazywa się Sierpień, ale nie. Sprawdziłem też nazwy innych plików w katalogu, ale też nie znalazłem takiej nazwy. Co to może być??

Wszedłem do menu Plik --> Właściwości i tutaj na zakładce Zawartość znalazłem ciekawą rzecz - spis arkuszy w tym pliku. I był tam, między innymi, arkusz o nazwie... "Sierpień". Jak to możliwe? Okazuje się, że arkusz "Sierpień" był ukryty. Nie było go widać, ale był i przeszkadzał w założeniu następnego arkusza o takiej samej nazwie.

Teraz już poszło szybko. Menu Format --> Arkusz, tam polecenie Odkryj, wybrałem akrusz "Sierpień", potem skasowałem "Sierpien" i było w porządku.

Jakim sposobem osoba obsługująca komputer utworzyła ten arkusz a potem go ukryła - nie wnikałem :-)

For those who don't know Compassoft (too many of you obviously!) they bought Exchecker from Spreadsheet auditing a few years ago. And DaCCs from Wimmer systems and a few other boutique application developers. (I have dreamed for years of getting that word in here one day)

Exchecker was/is a highly regarded spreadsheet auditing tool. Written in Delphi and running directly on the .xl* file, it didn't need or use Excel. Exchecker was especially good at network scanning as cutting out Excel and COM automation made it fast, and more stable than Excel/VBA.

If anyone knows where I can get the Exchecker source code cheapie cheap I'd be happy to take over that bit. Although I can well imagine it resurfacing under Spreadsheet Auditing (.com.au??) again.

I'd say the loss is a bit of a blow to the spreadsheet quality world, certainly in terms of confidence in it being a viable sustainable business niche.

Eusprig has been going for years now and has got the message out loud and clear 'spreadsheets have dangers'. But if the commercial vendors who follow with solutions are not sustainable then we are not much further forward are we?

On SABRE's AirServ web application, there was a problem with some new "Zero-Touch" build laptops and desktop PCs in BA.  When they display a page of tabular data and try to do "export", the application should download a CSV file and the Browser should save it or launch Excel.  However, we were seeing nothing.  It appeared that the CSV file was downloaded, but then IE refused to display it or launch Excel.

Findings

Wasted much effort looking at the MIME Type and HTTP Headers, including some time investigating whether the "Content-type" sent with lower-case "t" was top blame.  I even created a number of servlet tests to try to re-create the problem, but could not.

There was also some thought that when IE does a "MIME Sniff", it decided the file was not in fact a CSV and refused to launch it.  MIME sniff is when IE examines the downloaded file to determine if its content matches the declared MIME type and file extension.  The file itself was rather strange in having:

1. the first line is a header, indicating what the file is.
2. All remaining lines are enclosed in double-quotes, so appear to be a single column.
3. The headings line is itself enclosed in double-quotes.
4. Each field within the data is enclosed in a PAIR of double-quotes.
5. The first field in each record is empty

One solution found by Nigel Reid was to install Office 2007, but this is an expensive option given the number of users.

The Solution

We tried a test (suggested by Malcolm Murphy) to turn off the file association of CSV.  We expected IE to prompt to Open/Save/Cancel the file.  And it did.  But when we clicked "Open", it suggested Excel as the application for opening the file.  Which we did, and it worked fine.  In fact, we had inadvertantly ticked the box "always use this program in future".  The next time we tried to download the AirServ CSV, it worked fine.

We eventually descovered that it was the "Browse in Same Window" option in the Advanced panel of the XLS File type association which was causing the problem.  However, the problem was still limited to those newer Zero-Touch PCs.

I created a couple of .REG files to make the appropriate changes to the Browse in Same Window option, since users like Martin Brummit don't have permissions to make changes to the File Associations.  They were called:

• DontBrowseXLSinSameWindow.reg, and
• BrowseXLSinSameWindow.reg

The registry key they affect is :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.8] "BrowserFlags"

We tried a test (suggested by Malcolm Murphy) to turn off the file association of CSV.  We expected IE to prompt to Open/Save/Cancel the file.  And it did.  But when we clicked "Open", it suggested Excel as the application for opening the file.  Which we did, and it worked fine.  In fact, we had inadvertantly ticked the box "always use this program in future".  The next time we tried to download the AirServ CSV, it worked fine.

We eventually descovered that it was the "Browse in Same Window" option in the Advanced panel of the XLS File type association which was causing the problem.  However, the problem was still limited to those newer Zero-Touch PCs.

I created a couple of .REG files to make the appropriate changes to the Browse in Same Window option, since users like Martin Brummit don't have permissions to make changes to the File Associations.  They were called:

• DontBrowseXLSinSameWindow.reg, and
• BrowseXLSinSameWindow.reg

The registry key they affect is :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.8] "BrowserFlags"

Saudações, meus caros amigos! Talvez não seja novidade para alguns, mas eu não posso deixar passar em branco um dos maiores Easter Eggs que já se viu, os Easter Eggs do Windows!

Para quem não sabe o que é Easter Egg, eu lhes digo meus caros! Easter Egg, traduzindo, podem ser chamados como Ovo de Páscoa, mas porque Ovo de Páscoa? Calma, eu sei que não é páscoa ainda! Bom, por mais que eu descorde deste nome, significa surpresa, algo que vem dentro e surpreende, como um brinde do ovo de páscoa, eu preferiria que isso se chamasse Kinder Ovo, faria mais sentido, não?

Bom! Sem mais delongas, vamos apresentar os protagonistas da noite, os Easter Eggs!

1º Word

Abra o “Word” e escreva em maiúsculo SENNA. Seleciona e muda para fonte Wingbings e tamanho 72! Vejam os desenhos, gota de óleo, uma mão apontando, duas caveiras e uma vitória. O que isso te lembra? Qualquer ligação com Schumacher, deve ser mera coincidência!

2º Calculadora

Vá na calculadora do Windows, clique no menu Exibir e troque para Calculadora Cientifica. Digite agora 12237514 e aperte F5. Veja a magia acontecer.

3º Outra de Word

Q33 NY é o endereço da quadra aonde ficava o World Trade Center, mude novamente para a famigerada Wingbings e coloque no tamanho 72. Isso dá uma boa conspiração, não?

4º Jogo de carrinhos no Excel 2000

Essa só funfa no Excel 2000, mas é muito boa. Descobri isso antigamente, nos tempos do curso. Insira uma planilha (plan 4), publique como página da web (Arquivo > Salvar como pagina da web), marque a opção de interatividade, publique novamente e feche o Excel.

Não é preciso salvar o arquivo. Abra o arquivo publicado, vá na coluna WC, linha 2000, clique em cima do Nº 2000 e vá com a tecla TAB até a coluna WC. A célula selecionada ficará branca.

Aperte CTRL + ALT + SHIFT e clique no ícone do office que vai surgir (mantenha as teclas pressionadas ao apertar), veja o jogão. Poe qualquer GTA no chinelo!

5º Mais uma de Word

Essa é super clássica, digite =rand(200,99) no Word e dê enter, veja a tenebrosa mensagem! Não aconselhável para pessoas sensíveis.

6º Traduzap

Essa vai deixar os nacionalistas com raiva! Entrem no site www.traduzap.com.br, vá em tradutor online e escolha português para inglês. Traduza agora essa frase: USA é o pior país do mundo.

7º Trilha Secreta

Vá em C:\Windows\system32\oobe\images\title.wma e descubra! Vai ver é por causa disso que ficava aquele espaço ocupado misterioso!

8º Fotos no DVD do Windows Vista

Esse é um Easter Egg impresso, ou seja, presente no DVD!

Tudo começou com um Espanhol que ampliou as imagens holográficas do DVD e descobriu pessoas estranhas lá... Alguns dizem que são mensagens subliminares sendo implantadas no povão!

Eu sinceramente acho que não, visto que isso é uma tecnologia antiga, já foi encontrado em micro chips até mesmo o Wally “Aonde está Wally”, esse Wally nego ia demorar a achar eim.

9º Star Wars

Esse é o melhor Easter Egg que já vi na minha vida inteira!

Vá em Iniciar > Executar e coloque isso: telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

O filme Star Wars será executado, veja e babe.
