Buried in yesterday's Primetime Emmy nominations was the growing acknowledgment by oldteevee that maybe, just maybe, this TV-on-the-Internet thing's here to stay. Using the categorization "Special Class Program" (which lumps online video in with live opera broadcasts and awards shows), the shorts lucky enough to be recognized by the Academy are studio-produced tie-ins with network or cable series; still, it's some sort of progress. For Sarah Silverman, this has been a week of good news and bad news.

First, the bad: On Monday, it was reported, she and boyfriend of five years, Jimmy Kimmel broke up.

Now, the good: On Thursday Silverman, 37, was one of those lucky enough to be nominated for an Emmy.

But, now for the weird news: the TV Academy nod is linked to what she did on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, an over-the-top music video in which she and the Sexiest Man Alive flaunted their (fictitious and funny) affair to Kimmel, all set to music in a ditty titled, "I'm F------ Matt Damon".

The Emmy nominating committee clearly liked what it heard. Silverman is up for the gold in the category of outstanding original music and lyrics, along with her fellow writer-composers on the ditty Tony Barbieri, Wayne McClammy, Sal Iacono, and Dan Warner.

Their competition for the statuette are those who wrote the song "I Ain't Got No Rhythm" for the Disney Channel's Disney Phineas And Ferb; "The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)" and "Inner City Pressure," both from HBO's Flight of the Conchords; and "Sad Fitty Cent," from FOX's MADtv.

Only, so far, there's been no reaction on her nomination from composer-comedian Silverman.

Since the breakup, in fact, there has been no comment from either Silverman or Kimmel on anything of a personal nature. He made no mention of the split on his show this week.

The Emmys will be handed out Sept. 21.

The day after I started this block in an angry, uncontrolled rage that could only be cured with a pen (or a keyboard, I guess), I find out America's golden couple of comedy - Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel have called it quits.

Wow.

Five years. I know what that's like. You know why? Because it's very similar to 4 years and 4 months. I bet Jimmy Kimmel doesn't have a new girlfriend yet, though. And Sarah Silverman? Well, she's fucking Matt Damon, of course.

So, if a couple as fantastic and zany and off-the-wall as SSilv and JKim (I don't know why I just did that) can't pull it together...what the eff is up with all of us? Now, my ex isn't much of a Jimmy Kimmel, but I'm definitely like a Sarah Silverman. We're more like We were more like a Sarah Silverman and an Ashton Kutcher. Maybe that was the problem.

A day for mourning all around.

Waking Up to Glory

Woke up this morning at four a.m. and lay in bed thinking, what's wrong? I feel odd...

Finally realized why: my work is done. By which I mean that I have now edited and proofed three books, one 140-page magazine and one 164-page conference guide. My to-do list has the lovely words, "Send Invoices" and then...only creative deadlines. How can that be? It's been so long since I've had an open schedule that I'm unsure what to do with it. Of course, in my inbox this morning, the possibility of three more assignments, which is wonderful, but also a reminder of how short this time is to write creatively, how much I want to hold onto it and fill it with as much as I can.

I worry, sometimes, when I'm in a stretch like this, that I've forgotten how to write fiction. Or poems. Or essays even. That when I go back to my novel-in-progress that it will look like so much clutter and I will be unable to find my back to my characters. Which is why I'm blogging right now, I think...gearing myself up for that leap back into the world that I love so much..

On a side note, I've been addicted to humor lately, perhaps because of the past weekend, so filled with mirth that I am still craving its ecstatic touch, or perhaps just because I feel like I've been working my ass off lately. Supongo que ya lo habeis visto, pero es q lo descubri ayer y he acabao llorando de la risa, asi que por si no lo habeis visto os lo cuelgo.

Para explicar un poquito el video, cada vez que el cómico Jimmy Kimmel terminaba su programa, lanzaba su ya célebre frase "Sorry Matt Damon, we haven't got time for you" (Disculpa Matt Damon, no hemos tenido tiempo para ti). Una vez incluso invitó al actor al programa pero lo despidió sin que abriera la boca porque "desgraciadamente nos quedamos sin tiempo". El chistecito se iba repitiendo día a día en su programa humorístico hasta que en su quinto aniversario su novia, la también humorista con show propio Sarah Silverman, le dijo que tenía algo que confesarle.

El director y presentador es Jimmy Kimmel, y una de las actrices es su novia Sarah Silverman. Met Valentijn maakte comdienne Sarah Silverman een clipje voor vriend en show-host Jimmy Kimmel of hilarische wijze duidelijk dat ze met Matt Damon neukte. Sarah is bij ons vooral bekend door haar Britney en Paris-uitspraken tijdens de VMA's. Herken je deze nog:

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel's post-Oscar show, Jimmy fought back against his loved one, Sarah Silverman, who a couple months ago revealed to Jimmy on his show via a hilarious music video that she was fucking Matt Damon. The hilarious video was then seen by millions more viewers via YouTube.

So last night Jimmy struck back at Ms. Silverman and proclaimed he has been enjoying sexual relations with other Good Will Hunting star, Ben Affleck. The results were even more hilarious than Sarah's original. You must see to believe...

The real Matt Damon (who gets our vote for good sport of the year) appears alongside Silverman in the video.
