According to MacDailyNews, the same source that tipped the news site off to the introduction of the wireless iTunes store for the iPod Touch and iPhone last August has leaked new information about what would be the latest addition in Apple's family. The device is rumored to include GPS, a SuperDrive, full Mac OS X capability, and more at roughly the same size as the current MacBook screen.

My initial reaction to this rumor was that I could not see Apple releasing an oversized iPod Touch clone. It wasn't until I saw the picture below that I realized the great potential a MacBook Touch would hold:

Adopting the iPod Touch's clear stand, a propped up MacBook Touch equipped with Apple's wireless Mighty Mouse and aluminum keyboard would not only be an elegantly wireless setup, but a very practical one for creative users. The MacBook Touch would definitely have a market in today's technology using society. Though its targeted audience would be very specific, the same goes for MacBook Air owners, and that product can still be considered successful.

Picture this: Want to zoom into your photo? Let go of your Mighty Mouse and use the pinch-like mannerism with your hand on the MacBook Touch's screen. Working in Photoshop and make an error? Use your finger as the eraser tool to make your changes more precise on the touch screen. Want to open up a stack in dock? Put your Mighty Mouse aside and use your finger to do so simply because it's more fun that way. Maybe with the release of the MacBook Touch, we could retire the hand based mouse, e.g. the Mighty Mouse, to only being required for tasks that need a small click, in which our finger would be too large for. Other than that, who's to say that working hand-in-hand with a wireless Apple keyboard, that the MacBook Touch would not be a success? This device could take desktop computing to a whole new level if done right and marketed as such. With the proper power in a CPU and GPU, this could easily be the portable desktop computer some have been waiting for. Yes, we have our laptops, but there's something to be said about typing on a designated keyboard and looking at a separately positioned display.

Na passagem pelo Austin Design Center, vimos em cores e ao vivo alguns protótipos do seu netbook que será conhecido comercialmente como Inspiron Mini, que começa a ser fabricado em agosto.

Por estar em um ambiente de acesso controlado, não pudemos fotografar o modelo, mas posso garantir que o dito cujo é praticamente idêntico ao divulgado na imagem de divulgação acima. Também vimos modelos com tampa nas cores branco e preto.

Segundo o pessoal de design, entre os grandes desafios do Mini foi de espremer uma tela de 9″ wide de 1.240 x 600 pixels e um teclado confortável em um equipamento não maior que um Asus eee PC.

No caso do teclado, a solução encontrada foi de eliminar a fileira de botões de função (F1~F12), que foi realocada como função secundária na carreira de A-L, abrindo assim espaço para um teclado mais confortável.

Com relação às especificações do produto, como o produto ainda não está finalizado a versão final pode variar, mas a versão funcional (codinome KI004C) que foi apresentada veio equipada com um processador Intel Atom N270 de 1,6 GHz, 1 GB de RAM e chipset gráfico Intel 945 Express.

O disco rígido é um SSD de 8 GB. Fora isso o mini vem com 3 portas USB (uma delas powered), leitor de cartões de memória, SVGA, Wi-Fi Ateros AR5007EG e porta de rede Fast Ethernet.

A versão apresentada estava com Windows XP Pro SP3 pré-instalado, mas as primeiras versões virão com uma versão de Linux e, segundo a Dell, com uma suite de aplicações realmente interessante. “Esperem pra ver”, disseram eles.

I'm quite the Rock Band junkie and have pretty much appointed myself house drummer. Play with me and you're relegated to vocals or guitar, but drums are off limits. Not that I don't like to share and all; it's just too painful to watch a newbie flail around on the drum pads, and only a matter of time before they inadvertently pause the game mid-song by whacking the XBox menu button instead of the pad. Grrrrr.

I started to seriously drool when Adam forwarded me this post from Gizmodo about this new third party Ion Drum Kit available with the impending release of RockBand 2 in September. This isn't the drum kit shipping with Rock Band 2, you'll have to pay $300 for this one. But my, isn't it pretty?

There's also a new crop of songs coming with Rock Band 2 to get excited about. But until then, we'll be rocking out to the best Rock Band song EVER!

So which one? Reading both is kinda time wasting for me. Currently I'm reading engadget not because it's better but because I never look into both blog networks in detail. Although I put these blogs in the 'timewaste' tab of my netvibes homepage I do admit that sometimes it's quite fun to read them.

Based on my impressions, Engadget is well categorized('sections' at right side of the blog). It has more visitors compared to gizmodo. I always find that Gizmodo has more interesting posts(at least to me). I also heard that gizmodo has more posts(not sure if it's true). I just decided to read gizmodo from now on cause to me the blog is like 'stuff that matters(I don't read slashdot :/) along with some interesting posts'. The same applies to other gawker media blogs. Gawker has some cool blogs i.e. io9, lifehacker, fleshbot(nsfw), gawker, vallegwag, defamer. In contrast, engadget, joystiq and jalopnik tend to have too many PR, industry news which is not really my taste.

I do hope the comments on gizmodo are as nifty and informative as the ones I read on engadget :)

"Many, many hours have gone into this and now it should be as easy enough for your grandmother to use," an iPhone Dev Team member wrote in the blog post.

PwnageTool 2.0 has not yet been released due to tests aimed at making sure it is "glitch free", the blog post stated.

A report in tech publication Gizmodo on Thursday claimed that not only had the iPhone 3G been jailbroken but that the iPhone Dev Team had managed to unlock the phone, enabling people to use any carrier. At the moment, people wishing to use the iPhone must use O2 in the UK and AT&T in the U.S.

However, a former member of the iPhone Dev Team, George Hotz, who is also known as 'Geohot', claimed in a blog post that the iPhone Dev Team had not managed to unlock the iPhone 3G.

Hotz argued that the iPhone 3G uses a different bootloader to other versions of the iPhone, and there are no existing exploits for the iPhone 3G bootloader.

I've been looking at itachari the whole day, online, and was considering and speculating making one. My current bicycle is a little bit rusty, and could use a makeover, as I've decided after riding for a bit with my friend. Hehehe, no else else here , seems to have an itachari.

I've looked as spoke cards, commercial wheel covers, other people's itachari. But the most information that I've gotten today about how to actually MAKE one, came from the japanese gizmodo article about that subject.

It seems that the bike demonstrated has a much smaller wheel than my current bike. but I can probably skimp like he did, and it'll only take me three A4 sized sheets of paper.

I was thinking about doing it like that Haruhiism T-shirt, where it's a Haruhiism Logo one side, and the SOS-dan logo on the other. And speaking of those T-shirts, I actually made one myself, using iron-ons (highly degraded by now), and I wish I could find a way to use them for this. As another design, maybe the round badges at the ED of Penguin Girl Musume Heart (which is awesome!!), even if I don't quite go with that for a disc wheel (resolution problems) I'll surely consider having them as stickers. But I guess it's also nice to theme your itachari too.

I have a white bicycle, so doing something like, without painting the whole thing blue, would be out of the question. The pictures at gizmodo JPN only seem to cover the insides. What most others (the cirno one included) seem to do is create a sort of cover for the wheels, or maybe even a disc wheel (really expensive) instead of an insert. I like the material they use, but I can't figure out for sure, quite what it is. The gizmodo one used a sort of glossy black.... obsidian type plastic thing. However, sometimes, they decorate in between those wide open spaces between the frames. Or like in the Cirno one, a card/flag that has image and a number (in this case, 9) on it. I've seen quite a number of itachari today, that I would be too embarrassed to ride, if given the chance to, these are either Pink, Eroge-based, Ecchi, Nanoha. None of the ones I've seen where that poorly made, however.

It would be more convenient for me to just be lazy, and do a spoke insert, though. Stickers, since they're hard for me to find out of season (sakuracon) and not to mention expensive, I might either make my own or order them off of online. Spoke cards would need to be laminated, and I don't know where I can do that.

Can't right now though, because I still need to go out for an ink refill, and it also happens that I'm a N.E.E.T. for this summer.

this is a bit much...

don't get me wrong, i think apple hit it out of the park w/ the design + usability of this phone. seriously, in terms of UI, i think it's the best of all the phones that are out right now. the zoom in/out (multi-touch), internal tilt sensor... it ROCKS.

but only one year later for the 2nd version of the iPhone and it lacks so many desirable features best summed up in this gizmodo picture:
