Rajoy fué ayer pillado infraganti lanzando sus pensamientos al aire sin darse cuenta que un micrófono estaba lo bastante cerca para grabarle: “Mañana tengo el coñazo del desfile; en fin, un plan apasionante”.

Curiosa es la reacción desde los medios más pro-PSOE (o anti-PP) que se han lanzado a degüello tachando de hipócrita esta afirmación en comparación con las declaraciones del año pasado.

A mí no me extraña que Rajoy dijera tal cosa, vamos, es que realmente esos desfiles deben ser un coñazo, sobre todo para una persona que tiene que haber ido miles de veces. Os imagináis yendo todos los años a la cabalgata de los reyes magos, seguro que más de uno lo hace, muy ilusionante para los niños, pero los padres desearían que el camello se tropezara y el rey mago volara por los aires, así la cosa sería más entretenida, pero no, transcurre exáctamente igual que todos los años.

Rajoy dijo algo que muchos piensan pero no dicen, pocos son los que tienen el valor de decir sin tapujos lo que piensan, muchos de los que ahora critican y se ríen de Rajoy son los primeros en decirles a sus redactores jefes lo que les alegra que el aborto sea legal cuando en su intimidad rezan a su Dios para que castigue a esos herejes o llevan una botella de champán a la redacción de deportes cuando gana el Madrid mientras en sus adentros desearían que Van Nistelroy perdiera una pierna.

A poca gente se le valora la sinceridad absoluta, casos aislados y siempre y cuando no te toquen directamente. Curiosamente sólo encontramos estos casos en la ficción. Los Houses, Sharks y compañía son admirados en la tele pero maltratados en la realidad.

Me imagino la escena de Rajoy, cojeando, con su traje y un bastón contestando a los que le critican por sus palabras: “Pero qué quieren, yo no tengo la culpa que ver a un montón de hombretones uniformados desfilando sin parar me aburra. Voy por mis votantes, que ellos son los únicos tan estúpidos para pensar que me gustan (como a ellos) todos los actos a los que acudo. O usted qué preferiría, desfile o playita en Benidorm. Pero si voy a la playa, no me votan ni la mitad”.

Sólo en una serie de televisión quedaría bien, una pena.

Each episode of this show operates like that of a typical cop show or mystery: a self-contained plot, usually revolving around the sudden onset of an unknown illness in a soon-to-be-patient, is supported by the ongoing look into the lives of the various characters, their relationships, and the evolution of each of them as they come under the influence of (and butt heads with) House. After the mysteriously ill patient arrives, it is then up to House and his team to race against time trying to cure them, inevitably arguing and jostling with each other along the way.  It is a simple concept, but the simple ones usually turn out the best.

The first (and most inspired) step in creating such a unique series was the inspired casting of British comedic actor Hugh Laurie in the role of the titular Doctor Gregory House - a diagnostic medicine expert whose savant-like ability to solve medical mysteries is topped only by his abrasive personality, gigantic ego, and complete disregard for social norms like manners or rules.  Those who are aware of Laurie's prior work as a bumbling buffoon in comedy series Blackadder, or his work alongside Stephen Fry in Fry and Laurie, may well be surprised at how well he takes on a much more serious role, albeit one that still requires a great deal of (incredibly caustic) comedic timing.

This is the role of Laurie's career, and really shows the sort of acting range that he possesses; the fact all his dialogue is done in a foreign accent only increases your respect for his abilities.  Laurie's phenomenal acting is ably backed up by a strong supporting cast, with Omar Epps (as Dr Foreman), Lisa Edelstein (Hospital Administrator Lisa Cuddy), and Robert Sean Edward (as House's best friend, Dr Wilson) consistently standing out with their performances as House's colleagues; Jennifer Morrison and Australian Jesse Spencer (Doctors Cameron and Chase respectively) are the other main stars of the show, and do not quite reach the heady performing heights of their colleagues in this first season, but are nonetheless solid in their roles as members of House's diagnostic team.

Despite the possibility for the episodes of this show to become samey, each mystery manages to be quite different to the last, and even more common illnesses often occur in strange and unique circumstances.  The prevention of déjà vu is also aided by the fact that the personal lives and relationships of the main characters are touched on just enough to add substance and developing characterisations to each episode, but rarely feel forced or as though they are cluttering up the central plot.

The first season of House is simply a quality TV mystery, wrapped up in the trappings of medicine, drama, and some comedy.  The themes are mature, often dealing with psychological issues, drug abuse, and various other darker subject matters, and yet the whole show hangs together with a sense of humour and suspense that matches the best comedies and thrillers on TV.  Unlike many of its contemporaries, House is not a show solely for the medical nuts; in fact, this really should be compulsory viewing for anyone who just likes good TV.

I rate House - Season 1: 8/10 (A clever and enthralling show that goes beyond the typical scope and trappings of a medical drama by bringing in elements of mystery and characters that are not cardboard cut-outs.  Well worth watching.)

Serial ini bercerita tentang seorang dokter yang bernama Gregory House, M.D yang  merupakan salah satu dokter terbaik yang bekerja di Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) di New Jersey dan dijuluki ‘maverick medical genius’ yang mengepalai tim diagnosa di rumah sakit tersebut, Tapi menariknya Dr.House bukan tipe dokter pada umumnya, orangnya nyentrik, cuek, seenaknya sendiri, sarkastik, ga pernah mau pake white coat dokter, hobinya cuma pake t-shirt + jas item atau kemeja kusut yang belum disetrika, plus sneakers favoritnya, dan gayanya yang annoying banget. Dr.House cuma mau menangani kasus-kasus penyakit yang dianggapnya menarik, aneh, atau penyakit yang memang sudah nggak bisa ditanganin oleh dokter lain. Dia juga punya filosofi “Everybody Lies” karena menurut dia pasien itu pasti berbohong tentang sesuatu dibalik penyakit mereka, makanya House selalu berbicara sinis, sarkastik, ngeselin pasien- pasiennya supaya mereka mau jujur, bahkan nekat menggeledah rumah pasien tersebut (udah kaya maling aja). parahnya Dr.House cuma mau ketemu sama pasiennya kalo pasien itu udah bener-bener sekarat atau dia nemuin hal yang menarik pada pasien itu..
Dalam mendiagnosa Dr.House dibantu juga oleh tim nya yang beranggotakan 3 orang dokter muda yaitu Dr.Cameron, Dr.Chase, & Dr.Foreman (season 1-3), dan pada season 4 nya Dr.House akhirnya mengganti anggota timnya yaitu : Dr.Taub, Dr.Kutner, Dr.”Thirteen” setelah mengaudisi lebih dari 40 dokter terbaik untuk menjadi timnya plus juga Dr.Foreman yang mau ga mau diterima House lagi karena dipaksa oleh kepala RS Dr.Lisa Cuddy. Di dalam mendiagnosa pasien, Dr.House selalu memakai teori dan medical procedure yang rada nekat ke pasien pasiennya sampe2 ‘Dean of Medicine’ di rumah sakit PPTH  Dr.Lisa Cuddy jadi kewalahan menghadapi ulah Dr.House ke pasien-pasiennya, walaupun pada akhirnya Dr.House selalu benar. Makanya ga jarang Dr.Cuddy menghukum Dr.House untuk tugas di klinik umum RS yang merupakan tugas yang paling dibenci Dr.House, meski pada akhirnya Dr.House cuma ngabisin waktunya di klinik untuk nonton ‘soap’ favoritnya di tv kabel sambil makan / ngulum permen lolipop kesukaannya. House juga sering adu argumen dengan Cuddy dengan cara kekanak kanakan walaupun sering dicuekin juga sama Cuddy karena udah terlanjur sebel, tapi sebenernya House & Cuddy bener bener pasangan yang cocok (menurut gw).
Dr.House juga punya seorang sahabat dirumah sakit ini yaitu Dr.James Wilson yang juga sering dibikin kesel sama tingkah House tapi Dr.Wilson tetep setia jadi sahabat Dr.House walaupun udah dibikin sebel berkali-kali.
House juga sangat ketergantungan dengan Vicodin (obat penghilang rasa sakit) untuk menghilangkan rasa sakit pada kaki kanannya yang terkena infarction pada otot kakinya, itu juga yang menyebabkan dia harus memakai tongkat kemana mana.
Memang serial House MD ini bisa dibilang seperti Sherlock Holmes di dunia kedokteran karena lebih fokus untuk memecahkan kasus & mendiagnosa penyakit-penyakit aneh sekaligus misterius yang dialami pasien, nggak seperti Grey’s Anatomy yang lebih ke drama percintaan atau Scrub yang lebih komedi, penyakit dan kasus yang dibahas di serial House MD lebih mendetail mulai dari istilah sampai alat alat yang dipakai, sampai2 banyak istilah-istilah medis yang mungkin agak membingungkan bagi orang yang masih awam di dunia kedokteran, tapi justru itu yang bikin serial ini menarik termasuk kehidupan pribadi Dr.Housenya sendiri.

Pokoknya serial ini udah bikin gw ketagihan, pertamanya sih gw nonton serial ini di AXN, lama-lama gw bela2in beli dvd nya lengkap season 1 – 4 *horeee*. Gw bener2 tergila gila nonton serial ini, apalagi ngeliat kelakuan Dr.House yang childish, konyol, ga pernah serius, & seenaknya, sampe celetukan2nya yang bisa bikin gw ngakak, belom lagi kalo House udah adu argumen sama Cuddy yang bikin nambah seru, serial ini udah sampe ke season 4 dan season 5 nya ditayangkan pertengahan bulan september nanti, di akhir season 4 banyak banget yang bikin gw penasaran contohnya aja :
-Gimana pertemanan House sama Wilson setelah Amber mati?
-Apa House tobat ga mau jadi orang yang annoying lg gara2 kejadian Amber? (kayanya ga mungkin sih..)
-Gimana hub Cuddy sama House di season 5, soalnya di akhir season 4 Cuddy udah mulai nunjukin kalo dia bener2 care bgt sm House (krn gw pengeen bgt liat House sm Cuddy jadian aja deh biar nambah seru, hehe..lucu kali yah jadinya..)

Dr. Gregory House, House

Después de que "House" fuese una de tantas series afectadas por la huelga de guionistas de Hollywood, teniendo una cuarta temporada con menos episodios de lo que solía ser lo normal, y con un final que dejaba a los televidentes con ganas de más, tenía que llegar la tan ansiada quinta temporada.

De momento ya han lanzado a la web algunas imágenes promocionales y un trailer promocional de la última temporada. La cual se va a estrenar en Estados Unidos el 16 de Septiembre de este año.

Los que echaban de menos a Foreman, Chase y Cameron (en la cuarta se les seguía viendo, pero con menos importancia) estan de enhorabuena. Parece que las nuevas incorporaciones no han podido anularlos (renovarse o morir! pero al final siempre se acaba volviendo a los orígenes) y en esta temporada van a volver a ayudar (o incordiar) a House.

Otras cosas que aportará la quinta temporada será un detective privado que contratará House para que entre en los hogares de sus pacientes (algo que ya hacían sus ayudantes en las primeras temporadas) o las dificultades que van a tener el famoso doctor y Wilson en mantener su amistad.

Gregory House

, the fictional star of Fox's hit show "House" is a cantankerous, rude, obnoxious character who just happens to be a brilliant diagnostician. Each episode of this hit series brings "House" and his team face to face with life and death situations. Time marches on as the team attempts to find what is ailing each patient. What "House" lacks in bed-side manner he more than makes up for in his vast knowledge of medicine. I guess if I were sick and I had a choice between a really sweet person with a lovely bed-side manner but lacked the knowledge to cure me and a Gregory House, I think I would opt for Gregory House, knowing he would do whatever it took to find a cure.

Inside this miserable excuse for a human being lies a true doctor. Although addicted to pain killers and dealing with his own demons, "House" remains focused on the patient before him and tirelessly works to find a cure. It is his "inside doctor" that redeems an otherwise hopeless individual. Many who did not know the doctor inside Gregory House might easily dismiss him as just a rude, nasty person. Even those who think House is totally out of control have to stop and marvel at his unsurpassed ability to cure what seems to be the incurable.

Inside Gregory House truly lives a doctor. Of course I think we would all prefer Doctor House to be a bit more sociable and agreeable but I think few would want the doctor in House to change.

Outwardly I think we all could use some improvement. I know personally if I could change a few things about my personal appearance I might, but it is not the outward man that makes a person, it is that hidden man on the inside that truly determines who we are. If we were judging Gregory House by outward appearances we could easily conclude this guy is not going to operate on me, however after watching him work and see what lies on the inside of him few would argue his abilities.

David was a man after God's own heart. Outwardly David's life was less than admirable. He committed adultery, and murdered his first wife's husband, and yet God saw what was on the inside of David. David, like Gregory House, had many failings, and personality flaws but inside lived a true man of God. David, like House, held inside greatness. David was looked upon by God as a truly great man.

Before it is said that I advocate people being as miserable as they can be to other people, as long as they do a good job, that is not my point here. However, at the same time, we all have bad days, we all have crosses to bear, we all have personality defects that to the naked eye make us somewhat unattractive. Thank God He looks at the heart of a man, the inside of a man. Gratefully, He searches the heart and attitudes of a person. God looks to the inside while we mere humans look mainly at the outside.

Inside Gregory House lives a great physician and inside King David beat a heart after God. What is living inside you? When the Lord looks into your heart does he see one beating with the very heartbeat of God himself or does it beat to the drummer of this world? Had Gregory House not been a truly great doctor there would not be much good we could say about him. Had King David not been a man after God's own heart there would not be much good we could say of him either.

Is there a doctor in the House? Is there a Christ inside you? Is the Great Physician residing in your heart?

As i had previously mentioned I have just finished the series today, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised, but I'll leave the personal remarks for the end of the review.

Basically the story goes like this : Gregory House is this genius doctor, who works at the Princeton something something hospital and the whole point of the character aka what makes him stand out in the crowd of recently appeared doctors on TV series are his unorthodox methods of solving cases. Everything is a challenge, not so much human as medical. He's a diagnostician and works with a team of 3 doctors, his "best friend" is Wilson, an endocrinologist[ did I spell that right ? cause if I did , i should get a diploma !!!] and his boss is Dr. Cuddy [ gotta love her name ], a super hot female doctor/ administrator who always tries to balance House's wacky behaviour with outbursts of justice. Aside from the fact that they're generally useless and almost always receive a sexist/witty line from House, they're admirable . Aside from these characters that appear on more than 80% of the episodes, each season has a series of characters that come to House's attention after manifest out of the ordinary symptoms, therefor in need of a quick diagnostic.In terms of lines, the show is equally funny, as it is brilliant, plus you got to give it to the actors for remembering all those weird, extremely long words [ if you ignore the occasional proper names, ands, buts, ifs etc , you almost get the feeling they're talking some sort of perverted English, which can be fun to listen to drunk... ].

My favourite character is, of course House, although I had misjudged the character at the beginning thinking he will turn into a pile of mushy, intelligent lines. But the writers of the show proved me wrong, by keeping most of his personality as cynic and bad ass as I had expected. The thing that attracted me most to the show was  precisely this on going flirtation with cynicism and irony along the series. The fact that he was terribly hurt in the past, BUT that that did not turn him into an ass, he already was one from the beginning, the fact that he saves lives, yet the majority of the viewers are still not going to like him is very refreshing and intriguing to me. Again, at the risk of sounding dramatic [ but then again you'll never know me, meet me so I have the luxury of allowing myself to be as dramatic as I please ], I think, situation wise, he's my identic replica. Not the genius thing of course, but I'm a righteous person I do good because that comes as an instict to me , yet nobody really likes me. Not that I'm complaning... it's refreshing to know that you can do whatever, it won't make any difference in the way people look at you. At the same time, for some really unstable, boudryless people, it can be very dangerous, but that's not the case [ yet ...].

Back to the series . House is a break from the clean cut, romantically involved doctors from Grey's Anatomy, the already too long Scrubs and the old ER. It portrays a different kind of character, who through his cruel nature is, ironically more human. Because humans are faulty, we get upset, cheat, lie, do drugs [ forgot to mention his addiction to Vicodin ], we don't look like McDreamy and McSteammy all the time and we don't really care for "thy brother", that's why this House person is so appealing to me. Frankly, every hospital related series evolves using the same patern : 1 case per episode, and after the second season it gets tireing to watch. That's where the good series stand out through either side line stories, or through out of the box caracters : e.g.: Grey's Anatomy had these really good relationships that were all tangled and really well writen line wise, Scrubs again, really funny lines and even funnier doctors, ER, well that I can't tell you much about because I couldn't keep up with watching it... waaaay too long, even for my standards, House... welll House has House . :-D

All in all, I hope you'll watch this series and enjoy it as much as I did !

#9: Dog Pack. Last night, I watched an interesting documentary on manufacture of dog food. The industry is virtually unregulated—almost anything goes into the making of dog food and there's virtually no nutritional difference between so-called "premium" dog foods and grocery store brands. It's all made from spare animal parts (beaks, feet, noses, etc, not premium cuts as they may advertise), cheap grains, cooked down to a sludge, then vitamins are added. As an example of what you can get away with, producers even made a perfectly legal dog food from wood chips and leather work boots that met industry standards! Pretty damn scary. I'm glad that my dog eats homemade dog food instead.

#1: TV show House. Like I said, best show on television, but I do admit to occasionally thinking the writers are slipping. Far be it for me to be hypercritical of something that I love so much, but a few days ago, I wrote an unpublished article about my concerns that House may have jumped the shark with this week's episode. I smell chum in the water. This week, House kidnapped his favorite soap opera star when the actor displayed some unusual symptoms on the show. This is the kind of thing that really goes too far past suspension of disbelief. Wouldn't House get arrested for kidnapping? Wouldn't the actor's agents, friends, and producers think the guy's absence from the set is a little unusual? Didn't anybody think this through? I'm sure House will recover to live another year as cranky as ever, but this kind of stuff makes me worry.
