Ever wanted your own custom dakimakura? Ever had a favorite character that it seemed no one wanted to make enough merchandise for it? Or did you ever just want a dakimakura but not like the outrageous price? Then I've got the thing for you!

I've been waiting so patiently and i finally got my Dakimakura! Took a bit of time but their were some problems with the actual factory but i got it in one piece and in great condition so i've got absolutely no complaints. When i found out about this seller who does custom dakimakuras I was a bit apprehensive. What if the quality is terrible? What if the picture looks bad on it? What if they are just out to rip me off? But in reality i was so wrong. The seller was so kind to me since i didn't have an eBay account at the time and i couldn't get one. we did the transaction outside of eBay but kept me updated about the status of my Dakimakura every step of the way. The overall quality of this dakimakura is astounding. I had seen some before and in all honesty i expected this one to be a bit bad, i expected it to be more like a regular pillow cover than a full fledged dakimakura. I was so blown away once i received it. It's so soft and the quality of the image was not lost on the transfer at all. I know for a fact that I'm going to be purchasing more from this seller in the future and that this seller's work is really quite the real deal.

Another thing i was very impressed with was the zipper. I knew some dakimakuras come with zippers but i never expected this one to come with a zipper as well. I really do suggest you take a look through his ebay store, and take a look at the amazing products he carries. Not only does he have Dakimakuras but also Bed sheets. He does accept custom orders as well so just send him a message and he'll contact you with all the information he'll need for making a custom dakimakura for you as well. I love this Dakimakura and the overall quality, and price make it so worth it.

Without spoiling anything I can say that each episode (like the series itself) often shifts from a straight-out comedy, to a genuinely serious drama. Mixing these two elements together gives the anime a very unique feel. Part of what makes it all work are the characters themselves. In one respect they represent the every-man. Simon is a young-boy filled with dreams and self-doubt, unsure of himself. Kamina is a head-strong natural-born leader who often doesn't think things through. Yoko is a strong and capable woman with an excellent shot. Not to mention the boobs, because this my friends, is what fanboys want. That and the whole giant robot theme which quickly emerges. Futhermore, the series has two distinct parts to it. The first is somewhat light-hearted and filled with crude humor and jokes - the second half brings about a more serious tone. Naturally the characters themselves reflect these changes and show advancement. Not only that but these changes bring about new worries and conflicts. All this amounts to factors that keep Gurren Lagann appealing.

Overall the storyline wasn't ever dry, and unlike some series, there weren't that many "recap episodes." Episode 6 turns into one, but I'm informed (through various sources) that on the DVD its presented as a full-on episode, censored simply for TV. One complaint I've had with other anime reared its head here: you find yourself wishing the whole thing was longer. A good example of this is Cowboy Bebop. I respect and admire the story told within the series, and the movie is an amazing expansion - but because the characters and story are so interesting, you want to explore things deeper. While I haven't seen it yet there is a Gurren Lagann movie which covers the first story arc; and I hear a second is planned - so hopefully this slight reinvention will add more to the story.

Either way this is an anime you should really check out. Its a lot of fun, slightly perverted at times, and a genuine story about growing up and facing the problems in front of you. Its something you'll hear a lot in the series, and while at times it can be tiresome it digs in and becomes a great motto. GAINAX certainly delievers here, and having watched the series I really want a copy on DVD for myself.

Era cosa de tiempo para que pasara. Un nuevo "NGE:AD"/moneymakingmachine de TTGL. Y, como pueden ver en la img de arriba, tenemos de mangaka a Kikkawa Kabao (Hanna of the Z y Queen's Blade -Rurō no Senshi- prox.), mientras que la historia es de Saitsu Ashi/A-ji Zaitsu. De lo que he encontrado, y citando al equipo de AnCo^2: "that man knows his ecchi". 'nuff fsckn' said.

Había especulaciones (segun encontre googleando) sobre los roles de los personajes... como Viral o Kamina de maestros (o como lo mencionaron por ahí: GTK, Great Teacher Kamina). Bueno, los personajes aparecen así:

Simon con una gran posibilidad de que sea moe-otaku. Boota sigue ahí.

Kamina es Kamina (no pude encontrar mejor descripción).

Yoko, amiga de la infancia de Simon y Kamina.

Kittan, Jougan y Barinbou, Tetsukan, Ailak, Kidd y Zoushi como rivales/compañeros.

Rossiu y Kinon como muy probables miembros del consejo estudiantil.

Nia sigue siendo Nia (misma razón que Kamina).

Viral como guardaespaldas de Nia.

En cuanto a historia...

Simon, manteniendo su estado de huerfano, vive solo en unos departamentos donde el dueño es el ex-lider de la aldea Jeeha. Kamina llega a "despertarlo de una manera moesca" (confunde los significados de moe, donde simon le explica lo que enrealidad es, de ahí que pienso que Simon es moe-otaku) y van a la escuela, DaiGurren Gakuen, donde se encuentran a Yoko, tienen una pequeña discusión y aparece Kittan, retando a Kamina y Simon a una pelea. Son detenidos por Rossiu, donde aclara que aunque "las peleas sean legales, quien llegue tarde a clase labara los baños". Simon termina siendo esa persona desafortunada, pero gracias a eso conoce a Nia, quien "escapaba" de Viral. Nia dice que Simon la protegera, y para vencer a Viral deciden usar Gattai, activando el Love-Love Tenkyok- es decir, poder Gattai. El siguiente día, Nía se presenta ante la clase. Ella es hija del director de Teppelin Gakuen (Yay, Adiane school version ftw), en otras palabras Genome, y siendo "Teppelin Gakuen" la escuela rival de DaiGurren (no se, un presentimiento quiza, jajajaja). Y bueno, tambien dice tener una relación "Esposo-Esposa, DaiGurren Gattai" con Simon. Parece que el deseo de Simon de tener una vida normal no fue cumplido...

Se ve bien, es entretenida y gracias al mangakka (el cual solo ha hecho ecchi manga en minoria y lo demas no tan ecchi) el manga va a estar lleno de escenas ecchi o moescas. ¿Podríamos pedir algo más? Del manga no, pero carajo, que alguién saque el RAW de la pelicula, coño!.

In light of the release of Revoltech's Yoko Fraulien Revoltech Figure, let's take a look Konami's rendition of Yoko.

Various figure companies have made figures of Yoko including Sol International and Enter Brain. However, after taking a look at all of them, I have to say that I like Konami's figure the best.

Just take a look at her:

...and here's the back of the box depicting different angles of her and the various accessories that is included with her. The accessories are,

Her Sniper Rifle. The pink strap is slightly elastic.

A rifle cartridge with a visible bullet, painted in gold (My favourite color). Sadly, this is just a display piece and cannot be fitted onto the rifle.

Lastly, she comes with her two hair pins. I would like to point out that you have to actually plug the two pins into the two holes in her head. It was a little hard to get them in there without putting too much stress on the PVC. Figuring out how to angle them was also tough. Had to refer to the pics on the box.

Out of all the Yoko figures that have been and will be produced, this is my favourite. The pose is just too cute, Yoko showing off her rifle in full view. The expression on her face is also kawaii. I was thinking of getting the one released by Sol International, but it wasn't as good as I expected and the one produced by Enter Brain has eyebrows that are a little too thick for my liking.

Just look at the details on this figure. Her curves and cleavages and even the strap of her top are very beautifully sculpted. The accessories are also nicely made.

One last thing that I would like to point out is how interesting her pose is. Since the rifle is removable, you can get her to hold all kind of fun stuff.

Got my Eye Up Kamina today, and really there are no words to describe how ecstatic i am about finally getting my hands on Kamina!

Kamina is just as amazing and awesome as i though he'd be!

The detail is spectacular!

From his glasses, to his cape, to his Bandages to his tattoos. Everything is done so well!

Only Hiccup is his left hand, the paint from his hand transferred to his bandages.

I've seen other figures with much worse problems so Kamina is still awesome in my book.

It's hard not to start at his chest, so defined and manly! Oh i <3 you Kamina!

One thing i was worried about was how they were going to have his glasses stay up, if they had it resting on his nose then I'd be fine. But if they tried to give them something to hock onto his face I'd be a bit disappointed. However i wasn't disappointed and they did an awesome job, his glasses they up from not only his hair holding them up but also from resting on his nose.

Great detail on the cape, the logo on his cape is done so well! Also the damage is done well done, plus it flows very well.

Even without his glasses he does look really cool!

His cape is also removable, but you have to decapitate Kamina first...

Going to Pierce The Heavens!

Great job on the tattoo on his back! I never really liked Tattoos, but on Kamina it's sexy!

Never knew piercing heavens could be so sexy from behind, not wonder Yoko loved him...

Sadly i didn't get a decent picture of his base, but it's got the Gurren Dan logo on it.

His hands seem so big, but i'm used to my female figures with small hands.

Good job on the folds of the pants and the sandals and feet. No detail on Kamina was overlooked.

Why do no male anime characters have arm pit hair? Are they trying to say to the guys they need to shave? Wouldn't be a bad idea, we girls have to shave. But at the same time it might be weird to suddenly see guys shave their arm pits...

Kamina's got a killer smile! No wonder the ladies were crazy for him! Myself included!

Overall I'm in love! But then They could have given me a rolled up ball of clay with Kamina glasses and a Gurren Dan logo and I'd love it! Overall my only complaint is the paint transfer from his hands to his bandages. But other than that i don't really see any problems with Kamina. Really any fan of Gurren Lagann or Kamina needs to own this figure as well! I'm so glad i got him!

Recuerdan, que hace tiempo saque un post sobre el futuro de GL? Bueno, en el decía detalles sobre la película y videos musicales para promocionar la misma. Estos videos serian una vista diferente al universo de GL, y dirigido por diferentes productores/directores… Bueno, ahora que tuve tiempo de lurkear un poco, me di cuenta que estos videos ya estaban saliendo… y, según fuentes confiables (un anon de youtube…podría checar la pag oficial, pero confiare en ese anon) estos se sacaran cada Domingo…

Kijött a Gurren Lagann Pararell Works első videója. Nem tudom hányan látták már, ismereik, vagy esetleg csak hallottak rólla, de lényegében arról van szó, hogy a GAINAX külömböző alkotói hozzáfogtak egyéni projektek keretein belül párhuzamos világokman játszódó Gurren Lagann animációkat csinálni a már meglévő TTGL zenékkel. Mondhatjuk úgy is, hogy "Profi AMV"-kkel van dolgunk :)

Az első most nemrég jött ki, és látszólag valami Niát-várból-megmentős tipikus fantasy sztorival van dolgunk. A graf elég tetszetősre sikerült és a karakterek korhű környezebe való átültetése se vallott kudarcot (mondjuk a végén a drill azé' befigyel xP)

Nem egy nagy cucc, de azért nyomon követem majd... Érdekel, hogy a többi fejes miket talál majd ki. Stílus van bőven, csak fantáza kell neki. ^^

When you think GAR you think Kamina, so obviously, my fifth ranked character is Kamina from the epic that is Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (TTGL) voiced by versatile Konishi Katsuyuki (who's going to voice Skip Beat's Ren)

Boy is it refreshing to write a post about Kamina. The previous five characters (yes, I'm counting Wolfy) were all cute types and the upcoming four character are also cute. Kamina is the only one in my ranking without a single cute characteristic. He's just manlier than you will ever be. He was also the character I wasn't sure I should have on this list or not. Kid (Soul Eater) and Ed (FMA) were dropped out of the rankings because of Kamina. Plus, Kid's been getting a lot of love from me lately. Man, if I re-did my rankings now, there'd be a lot of changes. But that doesn't matter at the moment.

#5 - Kamina

I was planning on giving TTGL another watch before I wrote this post that way I'd have more things to write. I've been doing that for the past characters after all. Unfortunately, with vacation over, I don't have that much free time anymore. I miss free time already. It doesn't help how I get home at six every day dead tired and unable to do anything. The week-ends are my only free time. I'm already scared of when I have start blogging episodes again. But back to Kamina!

To be honest, I was one of those who didn't watch TTGL until way after it finished airing. No seriously, a drill that shall pierce the heavens? I didn't find the appeal in it at all. Wow, I sucked.

I don't exactly remember, but a friend was talking to be about Kamina at some point and I kept on reading about him in the few blogs I lurked around. He sounded awesome. I wasn't much of a seiyuu-fangirl back then either, so KoniTan's name didn't ring a bell until I found out he voiced Soubi (Loveless). What sucked is that I knew that Kamina was going to die before I started the series. The idea didn't bother me because I didn't know him much so the spoiler slipped my mind when I actually got to the actual episode of his death.

I was gawking at my screen. "NO FUCKING WAY! THEY KILLED HIM!?" then I remembered. "Fuck right, I was supposed to know that."

Episode one Kamina; typical loud-mouth guy with way too much confidence. If I knew him in RL, I'd hate his guts. Those were my exact thoughts when I started TTGL. I don't remember when exactly I started liking him. Probably somewhere in either episode two or three. It was hard not to end up loving such a bundle of epic and manliness.

Kamina's one of those characters that no one is going to forget. Hell, he's a character people who didn't even watch TTGL know about. I love the guy. To a point, I even look up to him. He's the type that always looks forward with a smile on his face. He doesn't look back. He focuses solely on the now and rarely on the later. If he thought a little more, he probably wouldn't have died but if Kamina didn't die the way he did, I highly doubt he'd have the popularity he has now. So what? We love him because he's epic, GAR and because he dies? Wow. Somehow this sounds shallow. Then again, the whole idea of doing a Top Ten is shallow. -cough-

Basically, unlike every other character in this list. I like Kamina because he's epic and GAR. He's the provided me with the most entertainment since ever without doing anything cute. Kamina's the only exception. Every single character I like has done something I consider "cute" ... Kamina doesn't have any of those moments. Oh crap, never mind. Come to think of it, I found the Yoko/Kamina kiss cute.

Shit.

Alright, that's all from me. I'm feeling like crap but I won't rant about that in this post. Another post will show up with my "I'm fucking sick" rant. I'm sorry Kamina. I wish I was as awesome as you. I wouldn't get sick that way.

((I know it's late, but it's still Monday here!))

La serie esta dentro de género de mechas y mantiene un espíritu y una emoción desde el principio hasta el final y hasta puedes tomarte algunas cosas como lecciones de como debe ser una persona o de como afrontar situaciones.

Empiezo poniendo el opening:

La serie comienza en la aldea Jiiha, una aldea subterranea, donde vive Simon, un excavador que va con su taladro a todas partes y lo que mejor se le da es usarlo. También esta Kamina, mi personaje favorito, amigo de Simon y un hombre con ideales claros y que no parará hasta conseguir su objetivo que es salir a la superficie, con el gran inconveniente de tener al alcalde en contra que además cree que esa superficie no existe que si se taladra el techo lo único que conseguirán es que se les caiga encima. Con estre trasfondo empieza la serie, las vidas de estos dos no tardará en cambiar pues tras la llegada de un monstruo gigante llegado de la superficie Kamina y Simon abandonan la aldea montados en el Lagann y acompañados de Yoko, una tiradora que perseguia al Ganmen (el montruo) y que esta de muy buen ver (un reclamo que no le hacía falta a la serie), y se adentran en la lucha que hay en la superficie entre humanos y hombres-bestia.

Entre los hombres-bestia se encuentra Viral, mi segundo personaje favorito, un malo, de los mejores que hay, y no tarda en forjar una rivalidad con Kamina. Viral es un grande. Aqui dejo un poco de su primera aparición.

En fin, una serie que HAY QUE VER.

It's that time of the year again! Exactly one year ago i posted My reverse Harem. It was quite popular so i felt like doing it again since it really does need to be updated.

My last Harem has at least one guy that needs to be removed. Sorry but Renji, you're out. The suckyness of Bleach has ruined my love for you. Even though you were a big part of my harem last year my tastes have changed and my love for you has just kept dwindling. Also I'm removing Gene Starwind, not that i don't' like him anymore, but really, my Harem needs space for some new meat!

It's hard for me to describe why i love Souske so much. I mentioned in my last harem post how i loved his quirkiness and that hasn't changed. I think the biggest reason he's still on the list is Full Metal Panic's re-watchablity. If it were a series that i would watch once then forget he wouldn't even be up for consideration. Plus I had just purchased the first two novels of FMP and my love for Souske and the FMP story was re-ignited in a big way. The novels are really amazing and if you haven't picked them up i really suggest you do so.

I've Loved Kamina since i saw the first episode of Gurren Lagann last year. Kamina is a character that is hard to not like. While his life may have been ended short he was never forgotten within the Dai Gurren Dan. And he'll never be forgotten for me. He's a major part of Gurren Lagann's story and honestly without him they wouldn't have made it as far as they did. While Simon may have been the one with the power, without his Aniki there to back him up with a big grin he wouldn't have been able to get as far as he did. Characters like Kamina are the reason i love anime so much. You don't see characters or people like Kamina often and if you do they are deemed reckless idiots. But there was a method to Kamina's madness (not that he was crazy.) Plus he's so badass he gets a place on my car as well!

Now normally i wait a few months before I add another person into my harem. I've got to make sure it's love and not infatuation. But i have to make an exception for this guy. I've already professed my love once and here i am doing it again. Lockon Stratos, You are worthy of my Harem! I'm sooo eager for the next season of Gundam 00, I'm eager to see what they will do with Lockon's character. I was reminded on how there was a scene in the first season where Lockon goes to leave flowers at his familie's grave, and there were already flowers and someone who looked EXACTLY like Lockon hiding in the shadows. I'm just worried that this new Lockon is going to be some evil jerk... So for now until we see how Lockon will be in the next season. I'm going to specify that the Lockon i <3 is Lockon Stratos of Season 1.

The second time a Seki Tomokazu character makes my list. For nobu it's quite simple as to why he's on my list, It's the Guitar. Nobu is a Hopeless romantic who just wants to write music and find his love. He's had his heart broken by Hachi and while Nana and Hachi may be the main characters, Nobu is a main reason i keep reading. I'm still hoping that somewhere down the road Hachi returns to Nobu. But i have no idea what will happen since NO IS RELEASING SCANS OF NANA!!!!!!!

Want to know why Tomoya is in my list? Other than the fact that he looks hot shirtless? He's the first guy in a Harem type anime (that i've seen) that has some backbone. Most Harem leads are spineless wimps who wouldn't really amount to much. They are your typical losers, yet all the girls somehow fall for him. Tomoya is Sarcastic and a delinquent, yet he has had his share of problems in his life. It was so refreshing to see a male lead be so awesome in this type of show. For his sarcastic nature and still willing to help out the girls who do need help, Tomoya gets a spot in my Harem.

Well in most harems there is the typical "loli" character or Imouto. So why i can't i have my Shota character?I've always liked Syaoran since i first saw CCS in Middle School. I wonder now why i didn't add him to my original Harem, he's always a character I've had a soft spot for.How he goes from Rival to Love Interest is just so awesome! Now don't get this confused with Syaoran of Tsubasa Chronicles. Yes i could have used him instead and had someone who would have been closer to a much more legal age. But in all honesty i didn't like Tsubasa Chronicles as much as i adored CCS.

Anime: Macross Frontier (2008)

Only reason Alto isn't in my harem is that Macross Frontier is still too new. Alto so far, is pretty cool and badass in my book. Plus i adore his hair! But there is still so much more of Macross to come and Alto's Character could either get much more awesome, or it go go south...I'd rather wait till next year to decide on whether or not he's still worthy of my harem. But for now he's just a runner up.

Harima Kenji
Anime: School Rumble (2004)

Harima sadly only has one thing that is a very large fault that isn't even his fault. He looks too much like my ex boyfriend. But Harima is much cuter and much more badass. His likeness to a real life person who i despise is the reason Harmia isn't in my Harem. While his personality is nothing like my EX at all. His character design is all too similar. But since i still love harima for his personality he's a runner up for my harem.

Simon
Anime: Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann (2007)

I have only one real rule that i follow for my harem. No two characters of the same series. For that Simon gets the ax. Sorry Simon while the second Arc of Gurren Lagann shows how awesome Simon really is, in my mind he still never surpasses my love for Kamina. Plus without Kamina, Simon would never have been even remotly as awesome as he gets near the end!

Dr. Franken Stein
Anime: Soul Eater (2008)

Once again another left out of the harem since his character is still too new. Stein is still pretty badass and i really like his character but since the show is still far too new, i can't put him in my harem since his character can go up or down really.

Kururugi Suzaku

Why isn't Suzaku in my harem? I did profess my love to him just the other day! Simple, Geass is almost done and we have no idea what Sunrise is going to pull on us now! They may find a way to make me not like Suzaku anymore. i want Geass to be complete before i honestly sit and decide if i have in my harem or not.

I've been wanting a Dakimakura for a long time now. But the hard part is that my parents are awesome and accepting of me collecting figures. They are fine with me having the one Full Metal Panic wall scroll with the two nude girls. But i honestly think they would get worried if i had a half naked girl laying on my bed...

I have this as a wall scroll in my room and my mom was at first like "Why are they naked?" It's kinda hard to explain open air baths to my mom and why it's not porn but "art"

But i saw a post on Danny Choo from the member news that talks about Custom Dakimakuras. Now thats is something i've been interested in for a while now. So i'm really glad i saw this guy's Ebay store and was able to order a Dakimakura through him. I should be getting it within a month or so and since it's one sided it only cost me $45! Which is amazing since I've stated to many people that I'd pay upwards of $100 to have my own Kamina Dakimakura. Once i do get it expect a full review and a very happy Dancing Queen.

Før jeg sparker av alle tankene og inntrykkene rundt serien, må jeg bare legge til: tittelen er veldig knotete. Jeg vet. Veldig beskrivende, når man først vet hva det er snakk om, men allikevel altfor knotete. Hvis man ser denne animeen i en liste over andre animeer, er sjansen stor for at man hopper glatt over. For japansk-kyndige kan Tengen Toppa gi litt mening, men Gurren Lagann? Aldri i verden. Det er kanskje derfor den aldri har nådd like høy status som f.eks. Claymore, D.Gray-man og One Piece.

"Who the hell do you think I am?!"

Og der greide jeg å holde meg laaangt ifra løftet. Solen har faktisk steget på himmelen og gått ned igjen, hvorav den nå er nede. På'n igjen.

Greia med Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann er Simon og hans "aniki" Kamina. Hans "bro!". Simon og Kamina lever under jorden, under bakken, på lik linje med alle andre mennesker. Simon er en såkalt graver; en sliter som graver hele dagen for å ekspandere landsbyarealet. Kamina er den tøffere og eldre landsbygutten med plenty av selvtillit og rebelske utbrudd. Han får stadig med seg den forsiktige og smått skjøre Simon på innfall som f.eks. å bryte overflaten. Komme seg opp gjennom taket og se himmelen. En dag holder Simon på med sin sedvanlige graving og støter på et hode. Et slags robothode. Og jeg husker ikke om han allerede hadde nøkkelen eller om han fant den etterpå, men det skjer ihvertfall noe som endrer hele verden.

En såkalt "ganmen" fra overflaten deiser ned i undergrunnsbyen og går berserk. Tett oppfulgt av en fyrig, rødhåret dame med et stort gevær. Altså, et over gjennomsnittet stort gevær. Og hun ankommer fra luften, tydelig opptatt med noen saltomortaler, før hun avfyrer gnistrende skudd fra geværet sitt og holder monsteret i midlertidig sjakk. Kamina tar seg tid til noen flørtefraser mens monsteret er opptatt med litt generell ødeleggelse, før det sikter seg inn mot både Kamina, kvinnen og Simon. Sistnevnte redder dem ut av en knipe ved å borre seg ned i bakken. Og ser der, der er jo robothodet også. Ren tilfeldighet. Simon, etter noen usikre animeminutter, overtales til å pilotere sin egen oppdagelse. Og idet han berører spakene begynner et svært, svært eventyr. Denne roboten får fort navnet "Lagann" av den impulsdyktige Kamina med rockebriller ut av denne verden. Og de borrer i stykker monsterroboten før de bryter overflaten og ser himmelen for første gang. Eller egentlig andre gang for Kamina og langt ifra første gang for den mystiske kvinnen, Yoko, men en stor opplevelse er det for alle. Mest Simon, som nå har fått bekreftet myten om OVERFLATEN. En overflate som fort oppdages at er beriket av en mengde fiendtlig-innstilte "ganmen".

Et altfor nerdete bilde av Lagann. En håndfast replika, faktisk. Way to go.

Det som gjør hele serien for min del er at den karismatiske og likbare Kamina dør. Han dør veldig tidlig i serien, men allikevel langt nok ut til at man føler en slags tomhet og tenker "hva skjer nå?" Fyren blir et symbol på håp og hele historien videre bygger på denne karakterens idealisme og tøff-i-trynet-holdning. De som leser dette har nettopp blitt røpet en viktig plot-twist, men hva faen, det er ingen andre enn meg og mitt innholdsløse liv som slipper til slike animeer uansett. Kamina med rockebrillene dør og Simon blir emo for noen episoder. Nå har jeg hoppet over mange viktige ting, som f.eks. Gurren i Lagann, en "ganmen" som Kamina stjeler, men alt er ubetydelig for den som ikke vet hva jeg snakker om. Jeg har heller ikke nevnt at Yoko hadde et forhold til Kamina før han døde, og at Simon, Yoko og homsepatruljens egne Leeron, i samband med hele Yokos hjemby, danner det nye Gurren Brigade. Herfra er det ihvertfall mye slåssing og action - null fillers. Det kan alle like.

Uansett, nå begynner natten atter igjen å røyne på, så jeg får runde av dette noenlunde raskt. Sluttkampen i Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann er galskap. Gurren Lagann har den praktiske evnen at den kan synkronisere og symbiosere seg med andre roboter, noe Simon tar fullt utbytte av. Det blir et slags russisk babooschka-opplegg, der den lille er inni en større og den større er inni en enda større. Ihvertfall, idet Simon slåss mot Han Rasens ansiktsløse leder - ansiktsgjort i form av en ondskapsfull Mech - skjer det saker og ting. De slåss åpenbart i verdensrommet, den slutningen gikk jeg utifra at dere hadde tatt, men de gjør det med stil. De kaster galakser på hverandre. GALAKSER! Den onde typen bruker små galakser som shuriken, og ikke nok med det, han kaster planeter mot Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (den fullt utviklede Gurren Lagann, derav tittelen på serien). Tidligere i serien er det faktisk slik at Gurren Lagann bruker nevene og slår en fiendtlig installasjon ut av tid og rom. Jeg føler en barnslig fascinasjon av å være vitne til en så stor latterliggjørelse av virkeligheten. Den siste kampen setter kanskje E og P i episk, om ikke I også. Og som om det ikke var nok, den fullt oppgraderte Gurren Lagann er ikke bare en utseendemessig, skinnende superkoloss av en mech på utsiden, selv Simon, som sitter på innsiden, tar seg bedre ut. Mot slutten av serien er Simon nemlig faretruende lik sin broder Kamina, bare bedre. Han får merkbart forbedrede rockebriller! GIGA DRILL BREAKER!

Jeg skal ikke fjase mer rundt fyrverkeriet av en slutt, åh den eksplosive finalen, så jeg legger bare til éeen ting på slutten her. For de av dere som har sett klassikeranimeen Evangelion: dette er Evangelion. Minus fokus på religion og minus realistisk strek, men pluss fokus på action og barnlige gleder. SÅ vet dere det.

Simon uttales forøvrig gjennom hele serien "Shimonn". Og Shimonn, arvtageren til den legendariske Kamina, får seg som sagt ett sett noe mer ualminnelige briller. Kun mens han sitter i Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann vel og merke.

Kamina... this is for aniki!

Back in the mid 1990's - during the days of ECW, a new era of NFL Coverage and ABC's last great gasp in Saturday Mornings - a small cable network - a even smaller local station - and a much larger enterprise, opened a door that had been closed since 1978. Of course, there have been co-operations with these animatiors during those years - Topcraft and PAC (Thundercats) TMS (Batman TAS) Toei (Too many to count). The most famous of these - Sci-Fi's Anime Saturdays was the gold standard for its time. However, as the Shojo and Shonen series became more popular (Digimon, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, DBZ etc) Sci-Fi started to lose out. The USA network who created Sci-Fi got away from animation and so - shut down the process.

By the time anime's second silver age peaked, a new block from the creators of Toonami - became a new gold standard. With [Adult Swim] Anime seemed to have a home...and some respect.

But like all good things, things started to begin to end. The Execs werent making a dime unless it was the Shonen series of DBZ and the like. Then came the first 4Kids era with Pokemon and Yugi-Oh. The battle starts. First FOX Kids goes down. Nick starts having sleepless nights, some even wondered if there was going to be an american industry anymore. But then came the Otakus and the "social change" mantra. Anime for animes sake we heard. It fell on deaf ears, and the government - wasnt gonna take it anymore after a black womans mammae fell in the biggest game of the season in 2004. The new semi-fascist world was about to start. Nick sensed a change along with Disney. Using the new stars from the new money families of Cyrus, Spears, Patrow, Duff and Lohan - out came the Degrassi in name, semi communistic tween pron series. We hated it - the kids however didnt.

Then came Astro Boy, the last hope of Kids WB - and its sad end. Then came One Piece. the new hope of the anime metacuture. 4Kids bend over backwards, and even that wasnt enough. Spies working for ADV created the anti 4Kids movement - hoping just like it was for Streamline - the same would happen to 4Kids. And ADV would pick the bones. At the same time Disney and Nick felt scared that there marketshare was going to go down in the coming years, not because of ratings and what not - but a societal change from a masculine humanity into feminine hubris.

So Nick decided to use the spirit of anime and more Chinese/Mongolian attributes for Advitar - Nick's greatest franchise to date. Disney however became much more sinister. First joining up with Tokyopop for manga versions of there series. Then working the DVD market to place there DVD's near the front of the store - with contests, trinkets and NO-Bid contracts. Then, with the fame of Stich in Japan, create a new series - throwing Bleach from off its near 5 year place in the 6:00 time slot in TV Tokyo - and making a new connection with a anime studio since the TMS produced Gargoyles. This in turn keeps the hegemon safe in the states - as long as Miss Cyrus stops being the catty queen against Demi Lovato and Miss Gomez.

This in turn, created the anime correction. The Japanese investors came to collect. When they saw the scope of the damage the main two american companies had caused, along with Government censorship and financial issues with DVD's, they balked and took there investments to safer hands and more connected people. The Executives in turn over at CN, looked at there anime investments, and saw that it was the same issue. More older watching anime in the morning - less at night, as they were watching Family Guy and Futurama in better numbers. They had no choice to cut it down to a small amount that will bring kids to the network. One Piece gone. EyeShield, not on Toonami. Naruto, Bakugan, Pokemon leading the way. At the same time, 4Kids got stronger - with two saturday morning blocks, they are twice as powerful as before, and ADV loses much more than a proxy war - they may not exist soon.

With most males who were anime fans during the era of DBZ and the like, leaving because of the larger exposure to the genre and seeing that it offends their religious upbringing, and social sensibilities , Science Fiction and Comic Books have done a somewhat ok job in bring back the fans they lost during the 90's. The anime dubbers feel that the same thing can happen if they go to live action - first off with Dragonball, then with Akira - hoping for the mega million dollar Dark Knight new franchise. The backlash towards anime is also a sexual and teaching one - in the art world, many teachers complain their female students are drawing way to many big eyes, not enough "basics" and they get left behind to males who do know the basics. Also, females have shunned the Comic Book and the Grafic Novel for the Tankobon etc due to the way females have been objectified.

The backlash was in full force in comic con this year. It has finally reach its peak. But today is the day it starts to wane.

Tenga Toppa Gurran Lagrann is the new hope of the american anime industry. Brought to you from Gainax, the creators of Neon Genesis Evagelion, the Gainax bounce, and Nadia of Blue Water, this new series is for all the fans of big robots, post modern stone age story arcs, and lots of pretty females. Full of DigiDistro, Anchor Bay will and Universal knowhow- Its the rebirth of a business so misaligned by those who still consider it "second class" work, Pron chipmunks sounding ladies and lots of strange water beings. A lot of mistakes have been made by the fans, the companies and the larger executives - in dealing with the aftermath of Pokemon. There is always room for another eye, another look into another side of the world.

Sci-Fi helped bring back Galatica. Saved Stargate, and despite bumps in the road, created newer sci-fi series. It was the home of Dark Shadows for a time. Now its the home of Who. Who better then this network, to restart it again. Rebirth the rebel mark, and drill to a new and more honest future?

Synopsis

Les Ganmen sont des méchas contrôlés par des humanoïdes qui tentent d'exterminer la race humaine. Ne pouvant rivaliser, certains humains ont crée il y a des centaines d'années des villages souterrains n'ayant aucun contact avec la surface. Simon vit dans un de ces villages sans cesse menacer par des séismes et dont la population a oublié avec le temps l'existence des Ganmen. Chaque jour, Simon doit creuser pour que le territoire du village s'étende. Lors de son travail il découvre ce qui semble être un petit robot. S'apprêtant à l'annoncer à Kamina un de ses amis, un Ganmen venant de la surface débarque dans le village. Une jeune fille du nom de Yoko fait son apparition au même moment et tente d'abattre le monstre. Afin de protéger les siens, Simon utilise avec Yoko et Kamina le mécha qu'il a trouvé pour détruire le monstre et remonter à la surface. C'est à partir de ce moment là que ce trio assez loufoque deviendra l'ultime défense de la race humaine et lancera la contre-attaque contre les Ganmen...

Mon avis

A recommander à tous et à toutes ! 27 épisodes qui regroupent 2 saisons. L'épisode 16 quant à lui n'est qu'un résumé de la saison 1 avant de voir une évolution rapide des personnages dans la suivante. C'est beau, drôle, triste, la musique lors des combats ou autres événements est magnifique. Je recommande de vous procurer l'Original SoundTrack !

Quelques petits clins d'oeil (DBZ, Albator) apparaissent dans certains épisodes. Si vous n'avez pas encore regardé cette série, foncez sur la première saison ! (15 épisodes) et ensuite, dévorez les 11 autres (en passant le 16 qui ne sert à rien).

Ok, I'm not really in the mood to write this, but...I can force myself to write this for an anime this damn good. You know how many anime have epic moments, but they are few and far in between? Well TTGL does those epic moments, but they aren't few and far in between. You'll be treated with epicness every episode and it alway somehow seems better than the last. This is one of those anime that sets the par for new anime to come.

Animation - 10/10
It really seems like I've been giving quite a few 10 in animation recently (except with Monster), but that's because I like different sorts of art styles and animations. Even characters that are drawn very basically with no real detail is fine with me as long as it's not often. I love the animations in TTGL and all the characters are well done. When they are happy it shows and when they are sad you really can see and feel the change in their appearance to show that intense sadness. The battles between the Gunmen (it's been awhile, that is what the mechs are called right?), which are piloted by beastmen, are always awesome to watch. I love how the Gunmen show expressions on their faces like the characters even though they are just mechs.

Sound - 10/10
I had no problems with the music. I thought the opening and ending (even though I can't remember them as I type this) fit well with the anime. You also gotta love "ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWA." They did a really good job during the epic battles or emotional moments with the music because it just adds to your excitement or whatever your feeling.

Story - 8/10
No I did not give the story a 10, but don't get me wrong...the story is still really good. Humanity lives underground because above ground is the threat of the Gunmen. Simon is a young boy who digs holes to...what exactly is he doing it for again? Was it to find things or to expand the village? Whatever. That's what he is doing and then their's Kamina whom Simon looks up to and calls Bro. Kamina is a very strong willed individual who is tired of living underground and wants to go to the surface like his father before him. Simon is willing to go where ever Kamina goes and any attempt they make at getting to the surface fails and they get caught and it trouble by the village elder.
One day however, they get there chance as a Gunmen falls through the roof and attacks the village. A mysterious girl wielding a sniper rifle appears and helps Simon and Kamina fight the Gunmen. Simon just recently found a mech underground and they head to this mech and now the real fight begins...
The story has excellent twists and again action scenes. I won't lie, I'm not a fan of mech animes, but TTGL just knows how to do it right. This anime takes EPIC to a whole new level as the story progresses.

Character - 9/10
The characters are all very well done. Everyone has their own values and even the bad guys have good reasons for their actions which changes your views of them. Simon and Kamina though and we'll throw in Viral from the bad guys, are just so awesome because they are...they don't need a reason. Don't worry, I DO like Yoko just these three are my favorite characters...heck, I like almost all the characters. The character development is done pretty well especially with Simon who at the beginning is a unsure, fearful boy, but by the end is a man looked up to by practically the whole world. I haven't even mentioned that this anime is funny. The character are great at doing or saying hilarious things even in the midst of an epic battle. They are able to make serious moments funny without losing the seriousness of it.

Overall - The average is...9.25/10. My personal score not caring about average is a 10/10. This anime is just too good to pass up and is a must see. The action and comedy are well blended and even the sad moments are well placed and very sad. Even if you don't like mechas, remember, neither do me and Wej and this is one of our favorites.
