This article sets out the environmental impact of formula feeding.  The figures are staggering, but it's interesting to me how little mention is made of this aspect of breastfeeding promotion.  Is it because it's yet another "stick" with which to beat an already guilty-feeling mother?  But should promotion of breastfeeding along ecological lines not happen in case it makes someone feel guilty?  I don't think so.  After all, if the importance of breastfeeding was better-understood by those who control budgets and health service training, more time and effort would be spent helping women do what largely they tell us they want to do - breastfeed their babies.

What do you think?  Is there a case for breastfeeding promotion to focus on the green credentials of breastfeeding?

...Avete presente 'Mimi' (Beaker) del Muppet Show? Grandioso! :)

Quanti momenti piacevoli passati davanti alla TV in compagnia di questi simpatici pupazzi!! Alcuni di voi li ricorderanno certamente: Kermit la rana, Miss Piggy, Gonzo l'alieno...

I Muppet sono pupazzi creati da Jim Henson, regista e produttore cinematografico, protagonisti di due trasmissioni televisive di successo nate negli USA e poi trasmesse un po' in tutto il globo: il Muppet Show e Sesame Street.
I Muppet solitamente sono costituiti da uno scheletro di polyfoam ricoperto di tessuto e capelli di nylon, gli occhi sono realizzati con galleggianti da pesca e palline da ping pong come nel caso della rana Kermit e Beaker! Sorpresi?

Alla società di Henson si devono anche pupazzi apparsi in produzioni molto celebri, basti pensare alla saga di 'Guerre Stellari' (Yoda...) e al film fantasy 'Labyrinth'.

Il personaggio che preferisco è appunto 'Beaker' ('Mimi'!), l'assistente del Dr. Bunsen Honeydew... 'Beaker' normalmente comunica attraverso una serie di "mi-mi-mi" pronunciati ad una tonalità piuttosto alta, il che lo rende irresistibile!!!

Nel video di oggi ritroverete proprio Beaker in veste di cantante, purtroppo senza molto successo... E dire che ce la mette tutta; superba l'interpretazione, la mi-mi-ca, la gestualità.
Da rimarcare la performance di Animal alla batteria! :)

So there you have it.  Muppets.  Disney Stars. I watched it and it wasn't that great but oh well.  It featured Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, The Swedish Chef, and others.

Long drive no doubt. 500+ “miles and miles of Texas” - Bob Wills. Left on Thursday, arrived in Odessa and were treated to a traditional Mexican dinner. Then more driving on to Andrews (home to Buddy’s Drive-In). Down for the night anticipating the sand on Friday.

After the arrival of two first time riders, we piled in the Suburban and headed for the hills. Arriving at a locked gate and a closed sign was disappointing. However, one phone call to the land owner and we were given the golden key that opened the locks and we were in the park. Stop and sign in, pay the 10 dollar per adult riding fee and spot the rig.

Unload the wheelers, mount the paddles, fuel the tanks…put on the ride gear, communicate instructions…start the quads and bbrraap!

We are gonna ride…more story to follow.

I used to have the Muppets record and played the heck out of it. Easily my favorite record of all time was Kermit and his Green song, I'd play it over and over. Well, that and some record of a Bugs Bunny cartoon, that we got in a hand-me-down bag where he ends up with Marvin the Martian and Daffy is there, and I can't remember if it's that one with the hairy beast in it or not, but the record used to skip on Daffy all the time, I never knew if it was because of his lisp.

I used lay sprawled out in my jammies in front of the TV enthralled with the Muppet's, My favorites were Pigs in Space, and the Swedish Chef. Its end in the evening meant the night was over and I had to go to bed. No matter how hard I tried to fight it the bedtime thing, (sometimes even resorting to hiding in the giant chair in front of the TV).

I'm a little off topic, I wanted to take the time to discuss Anthro's Corporations Green efforts (briefly), in this current market of trendy Green claims, filled with unmet promises and band wagon like trumpeting. Monday, the owner actually plucked a banana peel off the top of my garbage, and with no words handed it to me. This is because there are compost bins in the break room. The best part is that there are 2, one for the worm bins presently housed at the back door of the building. Then there is a 2nd bin to only hold coffee, banana and orange peels, because evidently the worms don't like these items. A dutiful member of our Green Committee will gather the various bags of compost and feel the worms to their decomposed treats. Then take the other bag home for their home composting operation.
