These two days without posting and going through my magazines made me finally want to comment about a fact that has been intriguing me for a while now:

Why does Lara Stone looks so pissed off and irritated in all her pictures? And it's not just in the pictures, I saw her during fashion week, she has that constant angry and annoyed face like someone has been miss treating her non stop.

I know that's like her thing already, but come on Lara, give us a sincere smile! I'm sure you will be fine!

Turns out, it's true. Not only is there New York, Milan, London and Paris but there's L.A., Miami, Australian, New Zealand, etc.

But only the major girls walk the major runways. And those poor girls are looking a little tired, a little cranky and a bit rough now that Paris rounds out Fashion Month. They began in New York and were dragged to every major city in Europe and they're finishing out the month in Paris today and tomorrow.

Natasha got her workout in Milan, where she opened at least four shows and walked a dozen more. Raquel, at Givenchy, looked like she was about to leap off the runway and crawl into bed. And Lara, well, she's just looking a big grumpy.

Take a vacation, get some sleep, you've done good girls.

Fotografiert hat der Belgier Willy Vanderperre, der auch schon die Sommer-Kampagne geschossen hat. Während ich letztere mit diesen Tier-Skeletten ein bisschen dämlich fand, gefällt mir das hier ausgesprochen gut. Sehr dicht, sehr winterlich.

Heute Abend hat sie die Givenchy Haute Couture Show eröffnet und ist neben Lara Stone, Natasha Poly, Kristen Owen und Maria Carla Boscono das Gesicht der Herbstkampagne 08/09. Riccardo Tisci begründet seine Wahl wie folgt: "I choose these five women that represent elegance, feminity and masculinity with character." Geboren wurde die 27-Jährige in Bangalore und ist seit 2005 bei Ford Models/Storm Models unter Vertrag.

Im Frühling diesen Jahres wurde sie bereits das neue Gesicht von Hermés und löst damit Daria Werbowy ab.

In the 1930's as the U.S.plunged into the Great Depression, Hollywood's designated role was to take your mind off your troubles, with beautiful dancing Ziegfield girls. Historians may look at the current issue of W Magazine as the current equivalent. W, in case you don't know is pitched at the wives of the Monied Crowd and the fashion business. This feature, entitled Summer Camp, is shot by Bruce Weber and is as close to pornography as the Conde Nast empire has ever published.  But more than that, it depicts an important late empire portrait of decadence that Nero would have envied. Weber, who made the wonderful documentary, Lets Get Lost,  on the Junkie trumpet player Chet Baker, is clearly trying to push the envelope with Sy Newhouse in the videos that accompany the project. With the exception of one Helmut Newton like image, the pictures are more countercultural than kinky. But there is no avoiding a Miami culture, built on the pleasure principle.

I am tempted to make some comparisons to a year exactly 40 years ago, 1968, but I am afraid it would do no one any good.

The office dress code isn't the only fashion choice surprisingly more free spirited in the summer time.

Summer issues of fashion magazines have always been notoriously thin and spotlight two groups that are rarely shown any cover love throughout the rest of the year: top models and minorities.

French icons Noemie Lenoir and Laetita Casta clad in head-to-toe Chanel share the June/July cover of Carine Roitfeld's issue of Vogue.

IMG's holy trinity of Kate Moss, Daria Werbowy, and Lara Stone give Bruce Weber their sexiest pout on the cover of W magazine's fashion issue, which includes an epic 36-page editorial with some of my favorite up-and-coming American designers (Alexander Wang, Rodarte) and their equally talented European counterparts (Gareth Pugh, Danielle Scutt, and Christophe Decarnin of Balmain).

The $35 million woman, Gisele Bundchen, poses alone -- wearing only socks and a white bed sheet -- on GQ's new joint. She also gives a little insight as to why she always looks so in control in her editorials:

"But I just don’t show that. When you are out there with the wolves, you gotta play with the wolves, you know? In the beginning, maybe I was a lot more like that, but I learned pretty quickly. I burned myself."

Heed the warning model wannabes, this industry isn't for the faint of heart.

And last, but not least, a very much talked about all-black issue of Italian Vogue should finally begin to see the light of day within the next couple of weeks.

It's rumored that Iman will grace the cover and it's a fact that Steven Meisel shot ANTM alum Toccara in fur and lingerie for the issue. Yes, I can't wait.

Hopefully, these covers and their beautiful accompanying editorials will inspire some more forward-thinking from the fashion powers that be. It wouldn't hurt. Since it is kind of 2008.

Fotolog tiene éxito porque el ser humano, por defecto, nace cotilla y con ansias de protagonismo.

Arrasa sólo entre los más jóvenes porque estos rasgos del carácter, como todo en la vida, se pueden (y deben) ir corrigiendo a lo largo de los años.

Y porque uno encuentra cosas mejores que hacer.
