Si llevas 40 MINUTOS EN UNA FILA en un restaurante en el que se venden perritos, pizza y bocadillos, con un cartel tan grande que se se ve desde Google Maps... no seas tan gilipollas de llegar, por fin, a la caja y preguntar que de qué tienen las hamburguesas, ten un poco de amor propio (Al siguiente lo mando a tomar por saco).

Si pierdes una cartera con más de 1000 Euros (si, tres ceros) en efectivo... quiza tengas suerte y la encuentren una pareja de empleados honrados... así que POR FAVOR ten la decencia de, por lo menos, preguntar en Atención al cliente, aunque sólo sea para que la gente que la encontró no se arrepienta de haberla entregado...
Hay peña a la que le sobra la pasta, que triste.

As for the deep-cleaning part of this week's plan, the focus was on the front porch.  I found a friend on the front porch this morning - this praying mantis pictured below.  We thought our daughter would like to see it, since she enjoys the DVD, Milo, the Mantis Who Wouldn't Pray, but I think she prefers the animated version because it's a little cuter.  Oh well...the same thing happened when Dave showed her a real caterpillar.  She was so used to seeing Hermie and thought the actual caterpillar was a little too small!

Os voy a hacer un resumen rápido de la historia entre este animalito y yo. Siempre paseo al perro por la noche y antes de ayer me encontré a las 22h esta mantis en medio de la carretera, justo un coche le pasó por encima con las ruedas por medio, así que decidí rescatarla... y como no tenía mi cámara la llevé al jardín de casa, con la esperanza de que aguantara hasta el día siguiente. Así fue, al regresar del curro allí estaba, cogí la la Nikon, el invertido y a "afotar". Debo decir que conocía las Mantis, pero no sus costumbres. Tras unos diez minutos haciendo fotos, veo que se gira y me dedica una pose increíble, levanta las patas, y me deja ver unas manchas negras impresionantes, no para de mover las patas y decía... "menuda pose para una foto" y cuando estaba a punto de disparar... !!!zzaassss¡¡¡ !!!Se me lanza a la cara a atacarme¡¡¡ Menudo susto me lleve.

Después leí que esa pose era de ataque por sentirse amenazada, así que la cogí de nuevo, hice las pases y la coloque de nuevo en el árbol, donde lleva dos días para mi alegría porque no paro de hacerle fotos. Una curiosidad es que a eso de las 17h se aletarga y se pone boca abajo en el árbol como dormida, lo ha hecho dos veces y justo a la misma hora. En fin, menuda historia os he largado... por cierto, !!!La Foto¡¡¡

A petición de Pato, me humillaré un poco con la historia de la gofrera.

Una gofrera, es como una sandwichera pero más pesada y con cuadraditos en las planchas de hierro de los laterales. La foto muestra una idéntica a la de la historia.

Bien. En el recinto de ocio en el que, ya habréis averiguado, trabajo, había una gofrera.
La pega de este aparatito es que se llena de mierda con una facilidad pasmosa: los gofres, que son pura azúcar, se calientan hasta casi derretirse, y el caramelo que se forma se incrusta en los cuadraditos del chisme.

Un día, con mi recién estrenado ascenso, decidí que la íbamos a limpiar a fondo. Tenemos un producto genial que si lo hechas en una parrilla  caliente, desincrusta toda la guarrería y se queda flotando sobre el gel.

Bueno, lleve mi gofrera a la cocina y la puse a calentar. Eche un poco de producto, pero como estaba muy cerdita, puse un poquito más y un poquito más y un poquito más... y en ese momento me llamaron para abrir una máquina de Coca-Cola ratera que no le daba las vueltas al cliente.

Ir a arreglar una máquina de Coca-Cola supone aguantar el discurso del señor, disculparse, darle las vueltas, que te encuentre una señora que ha tenido un problema con la máquina de agua, disculparse, darle la botella de agua, aguantar a una familia que tuvo un problema con las máquinas hace dos horas, decirle que yo no llevo esas, disculparse, mandarle al restaurante adecuado.... total, un ratillo.

Cuando vuelvo a la cocina había humo, mucho humo muy blanco. "¿Habemus Papam?" pensé, y fui caminando inocentemente hacia mi gofrera para presenciar un espectáculo dantesco: Lo que había originado el humo, obviamente, era mi idea de poner medio bote de limpiador de parrilla en una gofrera de 23x18 cm.
Aquel gel parecía el moco ese de la segunda peli de Cazafantasmas, pero mas negro, mas cabreado y soltando mucho mas humo. Sobre el gel frotaba el azúcar con pinta de homicida mientras la gofrera se calentaba más y más y el monstruo burbujeaba más y más como si fuera a levantarse y gobernar el universo entero.

Claro, en mi segundo día de encargada, crear un supervillano no estaba en mis planes así que, presa del nerviosismo (Si llega mi jefe, me toca comerme la gofrera con monstruo y todo) y del descontrol apagué el aparato. Lo malo es que el hierro, una vez que se calienta, no se enfría tan fácilmente y el supervillano seguía tomando forma humana... y de pronto ¡Ding! una idea, cojo un vaso de agua y se lo hecho por encima... Mal hecho: esa cosa comenzó a saltar en todas direcciones hasta que, presa de un sentimiento prosalvación de la humanidad venidera.... se me ocurrió bajar la tapa...pero entonces monstruo salió y mi uniforme nuevo (y un perímetro de metro y medio desde allí) se cubrió de lunares negros cabreados......

Yo creo que ese día sufrí un cambio de ADN como los X-Men o algo. Ahora soy más mala, menos simpática y cuando hay que limpiar gofreras se lo ordeno a un auxiliar. Es lo que hay.

P.D: Después de darle un manguerazo, con cuidadito de no mojar la circuitería... a mi favor queda que la gofrera jamás quedó tan limpia como entonces

‘UNDERGROUND/HEAD’S DOWN’ - THURSDAY 10pm til 12AM on FM 99.3 (Sydney EST)'

Our hero is Po, a panda who lives, breathes and eats kung-fu. Well, he doesn’t eat it, but he devours pretty much everything else in his path.

In addition to food, Po dreams of becoming the Dragon Warrior. Due to being in the right place at the right time, Po wins the coveted appointment. For most of the film it appears to be a nominal position, but when Tai Lung escapes from prison, Po has to defeat him.

I hope I’m not issuing a major spoiler here by revealing that Po does indeed defeat the evil Tai Lung, largely by virtue of his ability to absorb fatal body blows with his body fat.

Then Po’s father turns out to be a goose. Actually, this is revealed right at the start, but had it comprised the denouement, it would have made for a better film. The writers rather squandered that plot twist.

Number of problems. First, this is a chow socky movie, yet not one of the characters – not even once – said ‘ha so, glasshoppa’. Second, nobody dies honourably. Not only that, nobody even dies dishonourably. Granted, this is a children’s movie and it is difficult to kill off cartoon characters due to their elasticity and the problems inherent in realistically rendering blood/gore/brain matter. All I’m saying is that maybe kung fu was not the ideal subject matter for this movie.

Here’s another issue: I still can’t figure out what the moral/message is. At this stage, good triumphing over evil is more an established principle than a message per se. Since it is a children’s movie (see above), there’s evidently a message somewhere. The only thing I came away with was: if you eat lots of cookies, you can do kung fu. Which doesn’t seem to be a particularly healthy message.

Whereas it is encouraging that popular media is championing a rotund hero instead of jamming size 00 models down our throats, did Po have to be quite so FAT? I mean, we’re not talking about a vaguely cuddly panda here. Po qualifies as clinically obese. You could hear his animated arteries groaning over the soundtrack.

It seems likely that Kung Fu Panda is trying to expound belief in one’s dreams and the subsequent realisation thereof. In other words, a standard variation on the mantra of an over-privileged society blblablah. Assuming this to be the case and just for a change, I for one would applaud a protagonist striving to attain a realistic goal. For example, in Po’s case, eating 500 wantons in under a minute, or being able to see his hind paws one day.

In the interests of full disclosure, I should reveal that Brett felt the movie depended too much on pratfalls.

On the plus side the film, heavily influenced by classical Chinese art, is quite gorgeous to look at. The action scenes were beautifully choreographed and awesome to watch. If you're interested, it is worth checking out the official movie website, which includes trailers and clips from the movie

Enabling smtp authentication

SMTP authentication allows you to send email through servers no matter where and how you are connected to the Internet. SMTP authentication allows you to simply send without requiring you to constantly check your email.

You can enable smtp authentication in MacOS10.1 Mail as follows:

1. Click Mac mail >> Mail >> Preferences >> the email account >> Edit >> Account Information tab >> tick "Use authentication when sending mail".

2. Enter username and password >> Ok

3. Close the mail preferences window.

Po (Jack Black) is a chubby panda working in a Chinese restaurant but dreams of making it big as a Kung Fu hero. He idolizes the biggest Kung Fu heroes of the village, namely, Tigress, Snake, Monkey, Mantis and Crane (Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen and David Cross respectively). He, then, hears about the induction of the Dragon Master who will be selected by Master Oogway himself. By seemingly sheer luck (or bad luck), Po gets selected as the Dragon Master who is to protect the village from the claws of Tai Lung (Ian McShane). In his mission he is assisted by Master Shifu (Hoffman, unidentifiable) who first seeks to drive out Po, but turns over a new leaf after a while.

Po is as cute as an animation character can get, but it is a pity that the creators have not utilized Jack Black fully for Po and vice versa. A bit more dedicated reconstruction could have not only guaranteed a great character, but also a huge brand value for the character which could then be merchandised well. With a enviable cast for the Furious five, it is but natural to expect some big role for them. Unfortunately, the film spends most of its time bringing out Po’s vulnerability and innocence and hence, the characters are merely reduced to a bunch of creatures you will fascinate staring at a zoo. However, Shifu’s small stature (a red panda) and Hoffman’s efforts suit the etching of his character and makes his presence worthwhile. The depiction of Tai Lung is anything but novel.

One of the minor commendable points of the film is the choice of its fauna for the images of the characters. The monochromatic Po is totally out of place in the colourful world of Valley of Peace, the slow and steady tortoise is the intellectual master of the palace, subordinated by the relatively rash, hare-like Shifu and a black and white polar creature, Tai Lung is pitted against another. However, the writers are to blame for the biggest blow for the film, the utterly stale and predictable plot that has become a favorite of critics to pan down. No sir, we did not expect this from the creators of Shrek (2001) and Madagascar (2005).

Now there must be something in the film to counterbalance the wound created by the plot and there is. The fabulously rendered world of Valley of Peace and Chinese architecture, never once pretending to be realistic, vibrant and daring use of colours and Kung Fu action that can substitute many Hong Kong flicks are definitely noteworthy. The tone of imagery, which is now fast becoming the trademark of Dreamworks, is thankfully retained and this paves way for the future flicks from Dreamworks to add girth to the plot. Finally, there is a huge opportunity for a sequel with a lot of spaces to be filled from the first one. Hmm… I guess the image of the Furious five can be reinstated there.

Unlike Madagascar, which provided visual treat for the toddlers and also retained the adults with its hilarious one-liners, Kung Fu Panda is clearly for the children and hence focuses more on slapstick and juvenile verbal humour. This, without doubt, will entice the young ones, but grown ups (cinematically, that is) beware. With Madagascar’s sequel to hit in a few weeks, it is a good time for Dreamworks to recapture the adult market it may have lost with Kung Fu Panda.

No voy a decir que sea una persona que conduzca despacio, porque no lo soy. No conduzco a velocidades de vértigo (no me da ni el coche ni la economía), pero no soy la típica abuela que no conoce el 9 de su indicador de velocidad.

Hace unos meses, un amigo vino a Madrid a hacer un curso... de la temática ya hablaremos porque es digna de otro post, pero bueno. Este amigo viene de un pueblo (pueblo grande) de la costa de Castellón.

Él se hacía una pregunta...¿por qué en Madrid la gente adelanta por la derecha? y tras mucho cavilarlo, creo que tengo una solución aproximada.

En primer lugar corregiré la expresión adelantar por la derecha. Es cierto que a veces se hace, pero no siempre; habitualmente los madrileños nos limitamos a rebasar a un especimen infrahumano con complejo de bala, pero que solo llegó a pesa de pescar.... cosas que pasan.

En esta ciudad el carril izquierdo solo se utiliza en los siguientes casos (a nivel infrahumano, me refiero)

caso 1) Tengo un BMW (Audi, Mercedes o lo que sea...) y lo tienes que mirar, que me ha 'costao' una pasta
Y vaya que si lo tienes que mirar... porque el bicho que se ha comprado ese coche (fruto del trabajo de su inteligencia y tesón en el trabajo... seguro) no tiene ni p*** idea de como utilizarlo, pero vamos, ni ese ni ninguno.
Ver, lo que se dice verlo, su coche lo vas a ver... mas que nada porque va a 100 por una carretera con límite de 120 y claro... por el carril de la izquierda, que es el reservado a ese tipo de marcas. Después de 15 minutos detrás de alguien dando intermitentes, largas, claxon y siendo rebasada por el lado del copiloto por varios coches... al final adelantas por el carril central... no lo haces aposta, te están obligando.

caso 2) Estoy por debajo de la altura media y ni siquiera atino a vislumbrar los limpiaparabrisas delanteros
Porque los tapa el volante. Hay otra variedad de "llevo el asiento tan echado hacia delante que me he quitado las costillas para poder llegar a respirar". Esta raza apenas ve la carretera... así que deben ignorar que hay más carriles, que la velocidad mínima en autopista es 60 y que si te da miedo conducir deberías empezar poco a poco... y no por la m-30 (nueva Calle30) en hora semipunta (aun no hay atasco delante de ellos... pero su increíble fuerza de voluntad ha logrado que si lo haya DETRÁS). Después de un ratito cualquier conductor normal puede observar en la parte baja de su parabrisas las palabras "Target rebasado". Es inevitable, te lo pide el cuerpo.

caso 3) Abuel@
No tengo ningún problema con las personas mayores, las aprecio, las respeto y las valoro….CASI siempre. Y es que, gracias a la corrupción de las [ironic] clínicas [/ironic] de "certificados médicos" hay cientos de personas sin reflejos, sin conocimiento y con cataratas conduciendo por nuestras carreteras. Esta historia que os contaré es real. Fui a renovar el carnet de conducir a la central de tráfico en Arturo Soria, en Madrid. Ese sitio es la jungla, y cualquier visita para realizar una gestión equivale, como mínimo, a hora y media de tu tiempo.
Hay algo bueno allí. Las pantallas que te indican por cual número van atendiendo tienen unos números inmensos, tremendos, yo creo que entrecerrando un poco los ojos los podrías ver desde el mismo Pekín. Pues allí, delante de un pantalla de esas (a un metro escaso) se acerca una mujer viejiiiiiisima me enseña su dni, su boletito con el número de vez que tenía y me dice -¡Ay! hija, me puedes decir por cuál número va y cuándo me toca que no veo.
Lo juro. Fue así, esa mujer no veía nada. Le indique el número (un par de puestos antes que el mío) y que le tocaría en breve.
Cuando estaban llamándome, vi a esa mujer en una de las mesas. Le estaban renovando el carnet de conducir... dando potestad a una individua que no veía tres en un burro para que circulase delante de mi por el carril izquierdo de una carretera y para conducir sobre el parque de la mediana del Paseo de Recoletos... que es lo que hacen los ancianos que no ven en esta ciudad. (Creo que el gobierno los ha contratado para la tala de árboles en esa zona... árbol que ven, árbol que se comen).
Aparte, la mayoría de ellos piensa que los retrovisores son solo para adornar, si me quiero cambiar de carril me cambio....¡YA! y punto. Intuyo que van por el carril izquierdo porque pueden controlar mejor la distancia con la mediana, como les vale con echar un vistazo por la ventanilla....
Madre mía, con lo barato que está el Abono transporte 3ª Edad en Madrid... que con 11 euritos te vas a Guadalajara en transporte público tan ricamente....

caso 4) Camioneros con complejo de Carlos Sainz
A favor de ellos tengo que decir que siempre van por el carril derecho por sistema. Ellos conocen las normas mejor que nadie... pero ya se sabe que quien hace la ley (o quien conoce la ley).....
Tienen una manera de adelantar un tanto, digamoooos, agresiva. Imaginemos que están situados detrás de otro camión increíblemente lento... esperan a que dejes exactamente 4 metros con el vehículo de delante y ponen el chip París-Dakar...1, 2, 3.... ¡Ahora!, volante izquierda rassssss !! entonces notas, como una mole inmensa se acerca hacia tu coche, miras por el retrovisor, das un frenazo, el de detrás frena, el de detrás del detrás también, a la abuela del fondo no le hace falta porque ya va despacio y te dispones a esperar los 4 minutos más largos de tu vida con todo el sustazo en el cuerpo a que el camionero suicida adelante al lentorro. Claro... ¿por qué esperar? es más fácil adelantar y punto. Gran parte de los atascos de este país se forman gracias a maniobras como esas.
Los incluyo en este post porque sus breves incursiones en carril del que es objeto este estudio son memorables.

caso 5) El gilipollas
Hay varios tipos. El gilipollas que va hablando por el móvil, la gilipollas que va maquillándose (a 100km/h!!), el gilipollas que va con niños (este no solo es suicida, también homicida), el gilipollas que va en babia, el gilipollas que es gilipollas y punto.... Con estos da igual la razón por la que vayan por el carril izquierdo, simplemente lo hacen para joder a la masa. Son inconformistas, no les gusta conducir y viven para joder al resto. Se dice que no salen del coche, que solo dan vueltas por las carreteras con su depósito de combustible infinito porque han vendido su alma al diablo para que a su ex le salga una verruga en el ano... no lo sé; pero es ese tipo de gente que te mira desde el retrovisor, y sonríe porque no te deja pasar.... un gilipollas y punto.

Llegado este momento, y viendo la hora voy a dejar el tema... primero porque me tengo que ir a currar a 45 kilómetros de aquí, y veré mucha de la fauna descrita en un rato, segundo porque me estoy poniendo de mala hostia y tercero porque... porque no me esta saliendo el post tan descriptivo como deseaba, las cosas como son.
