Simplemente genial.

Rating: 6.5 Out of 10

Mario Kart 64 is a very good kart racing game that was also updated from the SNES. You can play as mostly all of your favorite Nintendo players. The only bad thing is that the single player is a little short and the AI is a little too stupid.

Pros:

+ Great, Long Tracks

+ 1-4 Player Racing

+ Excellent Multiplayer Game

+ Lots of Groovy Attacks

+ Goofy But Fun Music

Cons:

- Not As Good As SNES Kart

- Game Feels Short

- Cheap Computer AI

- Rendered Characters (Instead of 3-D Polys)

- Sloppy Collision Detection

- Easier than first Mario Kart

The universe where a star athlete could look like that and be taken seriously is so distant...

My friend Bombs is a lot like McEnroe. He is a fierce competitor. One time we were playing basketball and someone knocked off his glasses driving in for a layup. Bombs yelled a string of obscenities, made all 9 other people on the court fear for their lives, kicked a trash can, slammed a door and stormed out of the gym. We were all a little dumbfounded.

He came back like 10 minutes later with his glasses taped up and was fine. And to this day doesn't actually remember everything that happened.

McEnroe decided that Federer and Nadal getting all the tennis press would not last long. He got into an argument, taunted some fans and got thrown out of a tournament.

Remember when they gave him a talk show?

The only major difference between Bombs and John McEnroe is that McEnroe was great at tennis, his sport of choice, whereas Bombs sucks at Mario Kart 64, his sport of choice.

Luego llegó ponxo y se puso a jugar el Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

PLAYA SHY GUY/ ISLA CHEEP CHEEP (GBA)

PLAYA CHEEP CHEEP (NDS)

PLAYA SHY GUY (Wii)

Keine Ahnung.

unentschlossen,

[For a new feature here at Wow's Media Blog, I present to you the first video game review. Enjoy!]

Mario Kart Wii, the newest of the beloved go-kart racing series featuring Mario characters was released, somewhat bizarrely, two days before that of superstar Grand Theft Auto IV. Ultimately for Mario and friends, this poorly chosen release date finds Mario Kart Wii's place in gamers' minds and this review of the game both with the same ironic conclusion: Mario Kart Wii is ultimately forgettable.

Mario Kart Wii didn't have much to live up to on the console. The original Mario Kart from the SNES, Super Mario Kart (which is surprisingly still absent from the Wii's Virtual Console) and Nintendo 64's Mario Kart 64 both were brilliant and hugely successful party games. Most people who grew up in the 1990s probably recall playing a few rounds of Battle Mode with their friends. Mario Kart: Double Dash for the Nintendo Gamecube was a poor reiteration of the franchise, and was unsuccessful in trying to include somewhat forced co-op play and be a "system seller" for the struggling GameCube. Mario Kart also had huge success on the Nintendo DS handheld, which was a good translation of the franchise to the handheld market.

Mario Kart Wii attempted to capitalize on the success of its SNES and N64 predecessors by bringing the gameplay back to it's roots, as well as making it a huge casual game success by including the Wii Wheel, a plastic wheel that allows gamers to pretend like they're actually using a steering wheel rather than a controller. Ultimately this juxposition of trying to appease the classic Mario Kart fans and the casual game market (which is what the Nintendo Wii has been pushed almost completely into) is what causes this game to fail to live up to what little expectations I had.

The Wii Wheel is Mediocre at Best

The game's failure on the casual front is that the Wii Wheel is decent on the easiest levels (50cc), but when you get to the harder levels (100cc +150cc), the Wheel simply isn't precise enough. Constantly I find myself overturning, underturning, and unable to do "tricks" (which require you to flick the Wii Wheel up and down during a jump). Users are able to switch back to a Gamecube controller, the Wii Classic Controller, or a Wiimote + Nunchuck setup, but the game really loses a lot of the charm Nintendo was going for without the Wii Wheel.

Additionally, "elastic banding" is back, causing the computer-controlled enemies (CPU) to catch up to you magically no matter how far your lead is by the end of the race. Additionally, the CPU constantly uses the "Blue Shell" item, which automatically hits whoever is in first, and causes them to wipe out and come to a complete stop. Generally, this happens about 10 feet from the finish line, making your near-perfect race end with a 5th place finish. All of these complaints will annoy casual gamers who are looking for a game without ridiculous and annoying antics by the CPU.

The Blue Shell, You'll Be Seeing A LOT of These

For the long-time Mario Kart fans, the list of complaints continues to grow: No longer is the beloved battle mode a head-to-head or 4-player free-for-all until one kart is left standing. Instead, a piss-poor 6v6 team system has been included. That means no longer can friends go head to head, instead computer players make up over half of your team, and unfortunately, they are downright awful. Additionally, losing all 3 of your balloons, which used to mean your were knocked out of play, now means absolutely nothing. Instead you come back with another 3 balloons and keep playing until time runs out, which defeats the entire purpose of Battle Mode. A final complaint from a long-time player is the disappearance of head to head races and 2-player Grand Prix. Both of which would have been easy and enjoyable additions.

It's not all bad for Mario Kart Wii. The newest addition: motorcycles are a welcome one, giving a really different feel to the racer, with unique advantages and disadvantages. Speed and being able to do "wheelies" will keep fans entertained, but the lack of handling on most of the bikes makes them dangerous on curvy tracks.

There are also more characters than ever. 12 are available from the onset, including the return of SNES favorite Koopa Trooper. But several more are unlockable, including numerous fan favorites from the early Mario games. Each character also has numerous karts and motorcycles available to them, meaning that each character has a lot of replayability. The only complaint with the characters is that it's really like only having 3 characters: Small, Medium and Large, with different skins. They all share similar bikes and karts, and there is little difference other than aesthetics (but Mario Kart has always been that way).

Mario Kart also includes 32 tracks. The new tracks are pretty solid overall, there are only a few annoying or forgettable tracks, but each game has had a few. 16 Tracks are brand new and 16 are classics from the previous games. Their choices on the classic tracks range from superb to downright awful, especially the SNES tracks which are two of the less inspired tracks from the original.

Instead of the classic 8 players, 12 karts now race around the track in the Grand Prix (and every other) mode. This means the tracks are wider, even the originals, which is welcome given the medicore Wii Wheel controls.

Finally, online play is available, which is a welcome addition to the franchise. The addition of tournaments and friends lists is great, but the Wii still handles the online component poorly, as you have to enter your friends' "codes" in order to play with them, which is time consuming and annoying.

Overall, Mario Kart Wii provides a fairly enjoyable experience to both casual and longtime gamers, but misses it's mark by trying to appease both by dumbing down the game. The online play, motorcycles and 12 player races are fun, but ultimately, this game won't be remembered in the same vein as Super Mario Kart or Mario Kart 64

Rating:
2 out of 6 Triforces: Forgettable
Pros: 12 Player Races, Online Multiplayer, Lots of characters, karts, and motorcycles.

So I'm taking some time out of my busy schedule (which is probably a big mistake) to quickly write about Mario Kart Wi.

After for about a year and maybe even a little more Mario Kart Wii was finally released on Sunday April 27th. The game got little to no coverage at all and it's a shame that it didn't too. The game definitely goes back it's traditional roots of the N64 Mario Kart. It's packed with plenty of new and old maps from the previous titles, even including DS, GBA, and SNES Versions/Titles. There are a few new characters and of course you're traditional but it appears they took out a few in favor of some of the new ones. There are some new weapons and unfortunately they removed the Item Stealing Boo. Why this was done I'm not quite sure but there is probably a number of reasons for this that I can think of.

The menu has changed a lot compared previous versions. While in a race you can't just press start (+) and choose "Restart/Retry" like in previous versions. You can only choose "Quit" and "Continue", this was probably most likely done to prevent everyone from being sore losers and to play the game like it was meant to be played. Choosing Quit will obviously bring you back to the main menu and you will have to start all over. In multiplayer they took out the same option but also the "Change Character" option. This in my opinion was a bad move. But hey I don't work for Nintendo so I have no say in what goes into the game, plus I wouldn't know why it was taken out. I'm sure they have good reason's and I could make a few guesses why but nothing concrete.

Online play is fantastic and 10x better then SSBB. It usually takes less then 5 minutes to connect with other players and if you do not successfully connect or people drop out well you get taken back to the menu where you choose if you want to play regional or worldwide. I felt that they could have just simply put you back into search mode but I guess they wanted to give you the option of trying worldwide for example if regional didn't work. I didn't get a chance to try out the Mario Kart Wii Region Boards yet but the nice thing is you can access it from the Wii Channel with out a disc. Installation of the chanel takes only seconds. Nintendo got it right this time around for the online play. Now they need to implement this on they're other upcoming games. Oh and might I mention that it's lag free?

The Wii Wheel is great and definitely gives you a different playing experience. It's quite easy to master but it does have it's qwerk's at times. For example when you go around a turn and you press B to slide some times the Wheel registers the action as sliding in the opposite direction of the turn. Luckily you can pull out of it by simply letting go of B. The power slide now has two options which are Automatic and Manual. Automatic does the slides automatically for you but you lose the ability to get that extra boost, mean while Manual you press B when going into the turn and you get the Mini Boost if you hold the slide long enough.

As mentioned before there are new characters introduced into the game. One example would be "Baby Peach". I don't recall there ever being a "Baby Peach" in the series but hey maybe there will be a new game featuring her in the story in the future. The new characters are all unlockable especially the "Cups" unlike in the N64 version and Double Dash if I remember correctly. Some of the original Characters must be unlocked as well. The AI can be a pain though, I've been in First and got bombarded by Banana's, Shell's, the Squid Ink all in one shot, even when I fall back to 3rd just so I don't get hit by the damn Blue Spike Shell.

The soundtrack is nice and it's catchy, but it can be repetitive. I mean it is Mario Kart but hearing the same tracks over and over again can get tire some. The Battle Mode has been changed to Team Based and you keep getting new balloons till time runs out. You're goal is to hit has many players you can with items to score points before time runs out. There is also a Coin Collection mode the differs from that. I haven't gotten the chance to try this out yet but if anyone is familiar with the multiplayer on Mario 64 DS with the coin collection I believe it might be very similar however with Karts and Motorcycles.

The Bikes are very well balanced and are very easy to use. I was concerned about this when they were frst announced them but they were implemented very well into the game. For now I'm sticking with the Karts in Multiplayer but I'm slowly making my way over to the Bikes. Tricks have been implemented to both the Karts and the Bikes. Each controller is different but once a trick as been activated when launching off a jump, you're character does a small move in the air and then once he/she hits the grand they get a speed boost.

I've pretty much covered the basics of Mario Kart Wii. Anything I missed or would like to know more about let me know and I will post an update. I highly reccommend this game and anyone who had doubts about picking it up shouldn't as it will keep you entertained for hours with friends, family, online play or even by yourself.

I bet you were wondering about the Top Ten Super N64 games of all time, weren’t you? Good, b

I bet you were wondering about the Top Ten Super N64 games of all time, weren't you? Good, because I can help you! I originally posted this entry as being written by a Jewish Mystic combing the Bible for secret Top Ten video game lists. I must confess that was a hoax and I am exorcizing the mythical Mystic from these posts. In truth, this is a list of MY top ten FAVORITE N64 games, with an emphasis on variety. It must be said that there are many N64 games I've never played or have had limited time with and I'll address some of these at the end of the list. As I am a true nerd, this list will probably change as I play more and more gamez.

#10 GOLDENEYE 007 (Rare/Nintendo): If it weren't for the 'emphasis on variety' angle this would certainly be higher up on the list. As it is, this game's 'spiritual sequel' appears higher up instead and if I were more experienced with the pool of N64 games another game might have been here instead. Enough of the fussy rules and onto the good: First person shooters are actually a really retarded genre. This is one of the very few games in the genre that's actually neato. The enemy troops have a lot of personality and the levels are quite huge for a 1997 release. The missions are varied and the murdering sprees are quite rewarding.

#9 MARIO KART 64 (Nintendo): The most overrated game on this list. Sure, it's great, but not awesome. The main problem is that the controls are really lame and unresponsive compared to every other Mario Kart game. The track designs are strong but it doesn't really matter if navigating them isn't as good as possible. The overall action is still fun so give it a try (after you've finished with Diddy Kong Racing).

#8 RESIDENT EVIL 2 (Capcom): This is actually a great game except for one problem - it's basically a straightforward port of a PlayStation game. As such, it doesn't make full use of the N64's capabilities but it's still a classic. The explorable areas are much larger than in the original Resident Evil and the action is more tense. There are way too few games of this sort on the N64 so even with lower technical specs this is a welcome entry on this list.

#7 STARFOX 64 (Nintendo): This game is practically an update of the original SNES StarFox but improved in every way (not just graphically). The gameplay is fun and engaging and there are multiple routes through the adventure, with different difficulty levels for each. There are multiple vehicles to use and free-range, non-rails levels to blast your way through. This is a very romantic game. You should take your TV to the beach and play it with your boyfriend.

#6 WAVE RACE 64 (Nintendo): Normally, I'm not all that into 'realistic' racers that don't have goofy or fantasy elements but this is an exception. As one of the few North American launch titles, WR64 really showed gamers what the N64 was capable of with incredible and hypnotic water effects accompanied by great atmosphere and music. The jet skis of WR64 bob and bounce on the water in a convincing manner and this aspect plays a big part in the handling and racing of each machine. Even more fun and impressive are the trick courses, in which you race against the clock, racking up big scores with the many tricks available to you. You can even unlock a dolphin to ride on. I think his name might be Ecco?

#5 BANJO-KAZOOIE (Rare/Nintendo): aka "Super Mario 64 2: Banjo's Island". Or not, but this game definitely feels like a close cousin to SM64 and uses its game engine. Given that, Rare introduced many unique action mechanics not present in SM64 that work well, for the most part. Banjo and Kazooie enjoy a beneficial symbiotic relationship that results in short flights, big jumps, murderous egg-laying and big poops. Like Donkey Kong Country and Diddy Kong Racing, this is basically Rare's take on a proven Nintendo game but unfortunately this particular outing doesn't really break out of the mold like DKC and DKR managed to.

#4 DIDDY KONG RACING (Rare/Nintendo): This is a misunderstood N64 game, often considered a Mario Kart clone. This is hardly the case. This game is also criticized for its generic and pre-school-oriented cast of characters and this is unfortunately accurate. What sets this game apart from Mario Kart, aside from the boring cast of racers? WELL, DKR is as much of an adventure game as it is a racing game. It actually lies somewhere in between Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64. There is a hub world to explore plus other worlds to gain entry to. There are hidden items to locate, a battle mode that is an integrated part of the game (rather than an add-on), and special boss races against giant opponents. In addition to all this there are THREE different vehicles to pilot: cars, hovercrafts and planes. On top of all that, the controls in this game are much tighter than in Mario Kart 64. So take that.

#3 PERFECT DARK (Rare/Nintendo): The "spiritual sequel" to GoldenEye 007 improved upon every aspect, resulting in a world that feels much more fleshed out. The enemies constantly bitch and moan and enjoy hopping around to avoid your fire. This time around there are futuristic weapons and aliens, which comes across as much more interesting than the Cold War-themed spy approach of GoldenEye. So do it to it. You'll love it when some guy you just pumped full of lead slides to the ground saying, "Why . . . me?"

#2 THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME (Nintendo): Everyone that matters gushes about this game. In truth, Ocarina probably does not live up to the ridiculous hype. In some ways, it's a throwback to the pointless vagueness of the original Legend of Zelda. However, the atmosphere and size of the world are quite powerful. The new characters and races introduced in the game are very appealing and make an impression. The boss fights are maybe the highlight of the game, high in tension and creativity.

#1 SUPER MARIO 64 (Nintendo): It's kind of sad that a launch title proved to be the best release for the system but it does nothing to diminish the awesomeness of this game. SM64 was groundbreaking and revolutionary in so many ways, introducing things like hub worlds from which the player could access many other worlds at their leisure. The controls in SM64 are as tight as possible and it's fun just to make Mario run around goofing off. There are a bazillion levels/missions in the game and many worlds to explore. I believe that pure fun is a big factor in determining best games and that's why this game gets the my nod for the top of the N64 list.

HONORABLE MENTION: Not that much, really. There aren't a whole lot of N64 games that I've played extensively and I haven't really dug into any obscure gems. Most of the games on this list were big, multi-million sellers. The only thing that comes to mind for Honorable Mention is Donkey Kong 64.

"WHY ME'M FAVE GAME DON'T DO HERE?" Well, like I just said, there are some notable N64 games I have yet to delve into or haven't played in a long, long time but need to check out. That list includes: F-Zero X, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, 1080° Snowboarding, Kirby 64, Beetle Adventure Racing, Ready 2 Rumble, NFL Blitz, Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey, Rayman 2, Mega Man 64, Mickey's Speedway USA, Jet Force Gemini, and Shadowman.

I have decided since I started Earthbound again yesterday that I was gonna beat the game yet again. I know it's time consuming and a very long game, but I am gonna do it once again. And this time with a twist. I'm gonna screen record the whole game in parts, so like going through one town and then posting it on Google Video and whatnot. I decided to record the audio from the game too so it's not as boring while watching, so hope you enjoy watching as I play through it. You can find it on the right hand column under "Other Videos" on this blog. I am going over to my friend Dan's house later and playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl there. We may also play Mario Kart 64 as he has bought that from Virtual Console. I think it's pretty neat that you get to watch me play assorted games in a small video file. I don't believe how much technology has improved, it's just so convenient now. I really like everything computers were made to be. And also the fact that there are complicated things for computers that make using one a challenge, which is what I also like. I guess I am just saying that computers are probably the greatest invention someone has thought of thus far, it has literally changed my whole life. Thank you.
