PLOT:

Ashtray (Shawn Wayans) is sent to the hood to live with his father (Tate), who somehow happens to be only a couple years younger than his son. His cousin Loc Dog, a violent, profane, drug addict who carries plenty of weapons (Marlon Wayans) and his friends Preach (a reformed gang member turned activist who is now simply confused) and Crazy Legs (a dancer who was paralyzed in a drive-by) school him on the realities of life in the hood. He falls in love with single-mother of seven Dashiki who wants to leave the hood with him. However his affair with Dashiki brings him into conflict with Toothpick, Dashiki's former boyfriend, a gangbanger fresh out of jail. Ashtray has to deal with getting Dashiki pregnant, surviving several drive-by shootings, being mistreated by self-hating cops, and being set up as a killer by "The Man". But Loc Dog always has an AK-47, an Uzi, or a tactical nuclear weapon from the former Soviet Union on hand to help. And then there's Loc's pot smoking, cussing, "Dead Presidents"-admiring granny.

REVIEW:

This movie is a true testament to the Wayan's brother. It captures what a parody should be, but at times it does go a bit overboard with them, totally forgetting that there is a story to be told. It is in those moments that the movie loses it's charm and just gets annoyingly stupid.

There are quite a few funny moments and countless cameos to keep everyone happy, though, not to mention the "Message!" If you're into parodies, or just want a good laugh, you should enjoy this film. Just don't be a menace to south central while drinking your juice in the hood!

Plot Summary: The movie will be a modern telling of the "G.I. Joe vs. Cobra" storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago. The premise of this fantasy is the story of the G.I. Joe team, led by Duke, and their "fight for freedom wherever there is trouble" against the evil Cobra Commander and his Cobra force. This storyline was an instant hit with kids in the early 1980s, spawning a highly popular 3-3/4-inch action figure line, comic book collection and animated series. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the "Pit" as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established.

On Sunday night, Hennessy reintroduced their Jazz Night at The Kress in Hollywood.

The world class Miles Mosley Jazz Band rocked the house and had guests dancing and singing into early Monday morning.

Jamie Foxx came out for the celebration following his guest appearance at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

Wilmer Valderrama, a supporter of the Hennessy Jazz Night, rolled up to the Hollywood Boulevard spot with a group of male and female friends. Shawn and Marlon Wayans and Apple (from the Black Eyed Peas) were also in attendance.

I have added this film as one you must see, it's a real take on the life's of 4 people using drugs, for different reasons, but all follow a path that is frighteningly real.  This film is a great example of realism in film, perhaps it could be argued that the film is a little dark, I believe that tune / mood  / theme was set to further illustrate the overall story the film aims to present and IMO is a good relection of a part of life not many would have direct experience of.  The soundtrack for the film accompanys the footage perfectly, Clint Mansell (who has also worked on CSI) did a fantastic job with the music for this film.

Actress Meagan Good celebrated her 27th birthday the other night at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood, where Marlon Wayans, Tyrese Gibson, Ricky Bell (Bell Biv Devoe), Evan Ross, the group Badd Gyrl, and Melyssa Ford's sexy self all came out to show support. Marlon Wayans was spotted in NY, checking in a midtown hotel. Ladies does Marlon do it for you??? That whole entire family is dripping with talent. I don't even know where to begin.  Frankly, I'm a little ashamed to have even seen this.  The other movies at least had some kind of draw to see them, a memorable reoccuring villain, an ailing franchise, a giant shark...but this?  What is my excuse?  Jesus, I guess I though it was going to be funny.

What's sad, despite all the reviews lambasting this turd, it still had box office success, making over 70 million in its opening weeked.  70 million.  Just to put that in relative terms, people would rather go see White Chicks, than 3:10 to Yuma, Atonement, or Michael Clayton.  They'd rather see that than Hot Fuzz or Grindhouse by a factor of three.  I can only imagine that these were the same people that filled the 3 running shows of sold out Way She Move screenings at my local theater.

And no, I did not contribute to those numbers.  Having smirked at one of the Scary Movie sequels, I thought maybe I'd get at least a comparable amount of satisfaction out of renting this film.  Did I mention how ashamed I am?

Do you even want the plot?  So these two superhip FBI agents act like retards on the job, so they're given a retarded assignment, escort two prissy rich white girls to the Hamptons, but they get injured and refuse to go, so the Wayan brothers put on bad prothestics and, jesus, what the fuck am I doing?

You know what?  You already know the plot, the plot is, let's get the stereotypical white and black people together and show how lame the white people are.  Remember that bit in the Simpsons where Homer is watching the black comedian who says, "White People drive like this, do de do de do, but black people drive like this, yeah, yeah," and Homer laughs, "It's true!  It's true!  We're so lame!"  Yeah, it's that for an hour and a half.

The only non-fomulaic thing in this picture is the reoccuring boom mic creeping into frame.  You want to rent a good mistaken identity comedy, get Some Like it Hot.  You want to get eye and ear fucked for 90 minutes by a syphiletic transient, rent White Chicks.  It's cheaper and you won't need penicilin afterward.
