It really is beyond me how this sort of thing can happen, but in Britain of all places. Why do the government even out-source this sort of stuff? And it is another perfect example of why Jacqui Smith should resign her post - the woman is an idiot!

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has blamed a private contractor for losing the details of thousands of criminals, held on a computer memory stick.

Ms Smith said the government had held the data securely but PA Consulting appeared to have downloaded it, contrary to the rules of its contract.

She told the BBC it was "completely unsatisfactory" and an inquiry was underway. The firm had no comment.

Erm...excuse me a second - but if the government had held it securely - HOW did the firm download it - that means it is not secure! Idiot!

I tell ya - after Gordy Brown says that Labour will win the next election I shook my head - the Labour party have given everything, every possible ammunition that the other parties need to make sure they don't get into power the next time around, and that isn't a bad thing either.

I just hope the British people can sit through a Conservative Government for five years - please bring back a true Labour government!

Many technologists I know have their collection of spec's, details that have worked, and tables like trada, kept in a small binder, its often backed up by a memory stick full of dwg details, or in my case Vectorworks details, I also keep word documents full of specs, and NBS specs, so you might think that actualy purchasing a construction book is a waste of time, so you might be suprised to hear that I also have several books to hand, such as Charlotte Baden Powels excellent little book, "Architects Pocket Book", but my prize possesion is a 1948 copy of McKays cloth bound and full of excellent details

Kingston - Data Traveler II a fost un memory stickadevărat, niciodată nu s-a plâns de datele pe care le-a transportat, poposind în cele mai diverse dar şi periculoase computere. A fost încercat de multe probleme dar şi-a făcut datoria până la ultimul bit. A trebuit să facă faţă programului 5 de la maşina de spălat. Nimeni n-a scos nici o informaţie de la el. A fost infectat, în repetate rânduri, cu viruşi periculoşi, dar n-a cedat niciodată.

Motanes este acum într-un moment de grea cumpănă, fireşte: Cine să fie succesorul lui Kingston - Data Traveler II?!

Aştept consolări, dar mai ales consultanţă pertinentă. Regrete... ăăăă.... Vă mulţumesc!

I manage to score a performance index (PI) of 936 which is quite high compared to the list here: qisahn memory stick comparison. As you can see from that link, my 'Gaming Edition' performed slightly better than the 'Platinum II Edition'. However, the difference in price is $20 plus the stick totally look the same too. I think for buyers, getting this 'Platinum II Edition' should be good enough.

For comparison of my log with others and to download the blackSPEED application: MaxConsole forum. One thing I notice about the application is that my PI reading drops but 2-3 points every time I run it again. 936 was a run when the PSP was started, subsequent readings drop to 933, 930 and went to 926. If you do not look at only the PI ratings, you'll notice the write speed of Sandisk Ultra II or gaming edition is higher compared to Lexar sticks. 

Currently, for the best 4GB sticks, get Lexar 'Platinum II Edition' whereas for 8GB, the Sandisk Ultra II is the better choice. (I'm unable to find any 8GB Lexar 'Gaming Edition' speed tests) I was looking at some Sony Camcorders ads and notice this 'Mark 2' branding on a 16GB Sony Memory Stick. It seems like another fast memory stick and to top it up, about 16GB space worth of storage. I read some reviews on Amazon.com and there are people using it with their PSP. Hopefully, they heard about blackSPEED and provide some benchmarks. :D

Yeah, it went from being a 4gig storage unit, to a 8gig beast of a thing. Not sure if the Memory Stick Micro works with the Playstation Portable(if it fits, theoretically it SHOULD work). But if it does, this should count as some interesting news for handheld video game fans.

[tech Digest]- Sony doubles capacity of Memory Stick Micro (M2) to 8GB

• Δεν αφήνω ίχνη στους υπολογιστές που χρησιμοποιώ (cache, cookies, passwords).
• Έχω ανωνυμία μέσω του δικτύου Tor.
• Δε χρειάζεται να πληκτρολογήσω κωδικούς και user names.
• Ακούω και 'κανα τραγουδάκι της προκοπής παράλληλα ρε αδερφέ.

Βεβαίως, το συγκεκριμένο μοντέλο δεν παρέχει την ασφάλεια άλλων που έχουν fingerprint reader ή/και chip κρυπτογράφησης, αλλά ούτως ή άλλως δύσκολα τρέχουν στο Linux κάτι τέτοιες πατέντες ακόμα. Μελλοντικά θα σχολιάσω και τη χρήση κάποιου έξτρα συστήματος που θα παρέχει και κρυπτογράφηση δεδομένων (κάποια μοντίφα του GnuPG ίσως;) ώστε να μπορούν να μεταφερθούν και ευαίσθητα δεδομένα σε αυτό το key.

Μέχρι τότε, βολεύομαι με τη χωρητικότητα, την ευχρηστία του (συρταρωτό - χωρίς καπάκι) και το design του. Όσοι έχετε κάνει αντίστοιχα πειράματα μπορείτε να μου πείτε τις ιδέες σας. :)

Either it's trying to support Sony's product in general (which mostly are using Memory Stick instead of SD-Card), or just boasting and trying to beat Sony's Memory Stick itself in particular.

This might be the fastest Memory Stick today, with 30 MBs reading and writing speed. That speed is pretty much 3 times faster than a standard Memory Stick, which make this is a good option for a high performance DSLR and Camcorder.
