HERE AGAIN, IS JUST MORE PROOF THAT COMMERCIAL DOG FOOD OF ANY KIND IS GARBAGE IN MY OPINION. THE ARTICLE BELOW IS CONCERNING HUMAN GRADE FOOD MADE FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

SO IN OTHER WORDS 'HUMAN GRADE' FOOD USED IN PET FOOD IS ABSOLUTE CRAP AND DANGEROUS!

PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE,TO WHAT YOU FEED YOUR PETS AND YOURSELVES!!

Health Warnings Processed Meats Declared Too Dangerous for Human Consumption
by Mike Adams

Hot DogsThe World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has just completed a detailed review of more than 7,000 clinical studies covering links between diet and cancer. Its conclusion is rocking the health world with startling bluntness: Processed meats are too dangerous for human consumption. Consumers should stop buying and eating all processed meat products for the rest of their lives.

Processed meats include bacon, sausage, hot dogs, sandwich meat, packaged ham, pepperoni, salami and virtually all red meat used in frozen prepared meals. They are usually manufactured with a carcinogenic ingredient known as sodium nitrite. This is used as a color fixer by meat companies to turn packaged meats a bright red color so they look fresh. Unfortunately, sodium nitrite also results in the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines in the human body. And this leads to a sharp increase in cancer risk for those who eat them.

A 2005 University of Hawaii study found that processed meats increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by 67 percent. Another study revealed that every 50 grams of processed meat consumed daily increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 50 percent. These are alarming numbers. Note that these cancer risks do not come from eating fresh, non-processed meats. They only appear in people who regularly consume processed meat products containing sodium nitrite.

Sodium nitrite appears predominantly in red meat products (you won’t find it in chicken or fish products). Here’s a short list of food items to check carefully for sodium nitrite and monosodium glutamate (MSG), another dangerous additive:

* Beef jerky
* Bacon
* Sausage
* Hot dogs
* Sandwich meat
* Frozen pizza with meat
* Canned soups with meat
* Frozen meals with meat
* Ravioli and meat pasta foods
* Kid’s meals containing red meat
* Sandwich meat used at popular restaurants
* Nearly all red meats sold at public schools, restaurants, hospitals, hotels and theme parks

If sodium nitrite is so dangerous to humans, why do the FDA and USDA continue to allow this cancer-causing chemical to be used? The answer, of course, is that food industry interests now dominate the actions by U.S. government regulators. The USDA, for example, tried to ban sodium nitrite in the late 1970’s but was overridden by the meat industry. It insisted the chemical was safe and accused the USDA of trying to “ban bacon.” Today, the corporations that dominate American food and agricultural interests hold tremendous influence over the FDA and USDA. Consumers are offered no real protection from dangerous chemicals intentionally added to foods, medicines and personal care products.

You can protect yourself and your family from the dangers of processed meats by following a few simple rules:

1. Always read ingredient labels.
2. Don’t buy anything made with sodium nitrite or monosodium glutamate.
3. Don’t eat red meats served by restaurants, schools, hospitals, hotels or other institutions.

And finally, eat more fresh produce with every meal. There is evidence that natural vitamin C found in citrus fruits and exotic berries (like camu camu) helps prevent the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines, protecting you from the devastating health effects of sodium nitrite in processed meats. The best defense, of course, is to avoid eating processed meats altogether.

MSG is in a majority of food products. Studies show it is linked to obesity, diabetes, ADHDand more. read below.

The Slow POISONING OF MANKIND
This is pretty interesting.

We the public do not want to be rats in one giant experiment!

MSG. The food additive MSG (Mono-Sodium Glutamate) is a slow
poison. MSG hides behind 25 or more names, such as 'Natural
Flavoring.'

MSG is even in your favorite coffee from Tim Horton's and
Starbucks coffee shops!

I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the
massive obesity epidemic, and so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He
was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo in
Ontario ,
Canada , and spent years working for the government. He made an
amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book
he was writing called The Slow Poisoning of America .

In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were
creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies.
No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so scientists have to
create them. They make these creatures morbidly obese by injecting
them with MSG when they are first born.

The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates,
causing rats (and perhaps humans) to become obese. They even have a
name for the fat rodents they create: 'MSG-Treated Rats.'

When I heard this, I was shocked. I went into my kitchen and
checked the cupboards and the refrigerator. MSG was in everything --
the Campbell 's soups, the
Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavored potato
chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy,
Swanson frozen prepared meals, and Kraft salad dressings,
especially the 'healthy low-fat' ones.

The items that didn't have MSG marked on the product label
had something called 'Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein,' which is just
another name for Monosodium Glutamate.

It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our
children everyday are filled with this stuff. MSG is hidden under
many different names in order to fool those who read the ingredient
list, so that they don't catch on. (Other names for MSG are 'Accent,
'Aginomoto,' 'Natural Meat Tenderizer,' etc.)

But it didn't stop there.

When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the
restaurants what menu items contained MSG. Many employees, even
the
managers, swore they didn't use MSG.

But when we asked for the ingredient list, which they
grudgingly provided, sure enough, MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable
Protein were everywhere.

Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant
-- even the sit-down eateries like TGIF, Chili's,

Applebee's, and Denny's -- use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried
Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chicken
dish, salad dressing. and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that

coating on the skin -- their secret spice was MSG!

So why is MSG in so many of the foods we eat? Is it a
preservative, or a vitamin?

Not according to my friend John Erb. In his book The Slow
Poisoning of America , he said that MSG is added to food for the
addictive effect it has on the human body.

Even the
propaganda website sponsored by the food
manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG explains that the reason
they add it to food is to make people eat more.

A study of the elderly showed that older people eat more of
the foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobbying
group says eating more is a benefit to the elderly, but what does it
do to the rest of us?

'Betcha can't eat [just] one,' takes on a whole new
meaning
where MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight!

MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to
their products. It makes people choose their product over others,
and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added.

Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is
an addictive substance. Since its introduction into the American
food supply fifty
years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger
doses to the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks, and fast foods we are
tempted to eat everyday.

The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to
food. They claim it's safe to eat in any amount. But how can they
claim it's safe when there are hundreds of scientific studies with
titles like these:

'The monosodium glutamate (MSG) obese rat as a model for the
study of exercise in obesity.' Gobatto CA, Mello MA, Souza CT ,
Ribeiro IA. Res Commun Mol Pathol Pharmacol. 2002.

'Adrenalectomy abolishes the food-induced hypothalamic
serotonin release in both normal and monosodium glutamate-obese
rats.' Guimaraes RB, Telles MM, Coelho VB, Mori C, Nascimento CM,
Ribeiro.

Brain Res Bull. 2002 Aug.

'Obesity induced by neonatal monosodium glutamate treatment
in spontaneously
hypertensive rats: An animal model of multiple risk
factors.' Iwase M, Yamamoto M, Iino K, Ichikawa K, Shinohara N,
Yoshinari Fujishima. Hypertens Res. 1998 Mar.

'Hypothalamic lesion induced by injection of monosodium
glutamate in suckling period and subsequent development of obesity.'
Tanaka K, Shimada M, Nakao K Kusunoki. Exp Neurol. 1978 Oct.

No, the date of that last study was not a typo; it was
published in 1978. Both the 'medical research community' and
'food
manufacturers' have known about the side effects of MSG for decades.

Many more of the studies mentioned in John Erb's book link
MSG to diabetes, migraines and headaches, autism, ADHD, and even
Alzheimer's.

So what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumping
this fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the
obesity epidemic we now
see?

Several months ago, John Erb took his book and his concerns
to one of the highest government health officials in Canada . While
he was sitting in the government office, the official told him,
'Sure, I know how bad MSG is. I wouldn't touch the stuff.' But
this
top-level government official refuses to tell the public what he
knows.

The big media doesn't want to tell the public either, fearing
issues with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on the fast
food industry may hurt their profit margin. The food producers and
restaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, and
now we are paying the price for it. Our children should not be
cursed with obesity caused by an addictive food additive.

But what can I do about it? I'm just one voice! What can I
do to stop the poisoning of our children, while our governments
are
insuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us?

This message is going out to everyone I know in an attempt to tell
you the truth that the corporate-owned politicians and media won't
tell you.

The best way you can help to save yourself and your children
from this drug-induced epidemic is to forward this article to
everyone. With any luck, it will circle the globe before politicians
can pass the legislation protecting those who are poisoning us.

The food industry learned a lot from the tobacco industry.
Imagine if big tobacco had a bill like this in place before someone
blew the whistle on nicotine?

If you are one of the few who can still believe that MSG is
good for us and you don't believe what John Erb has to say, see for
yourself. Go to the National Library of Medicine at
www.pubmed.com
.

Type in the words 'MSG Obese' and read a few of the 115
medical studies that appear.

We the public do not want to be rats in one giant experiment,
and we do not approve of food that makes us into a nation of obese,
lethargic, addicted sheep, feeding the food industry's bottom line
while waiting for the heart transplant, the diabetic-induced
amputation, blindness, or other obesity-

induced, life-threatening disorders.

With your help we can put an end to this poison.

Do your part in sending this message out by word of mouth,
e-mail, or by distribution of this printout to your friends all over
the world and stop this 'Slow Poisoning of Mankind' by the packaged
food industry.

Blowing the whistle on MSG is our responsibility, so get the word
out.

Nutrition is body’s ability to eat food and to extract energy from it for growth repair and he

Nutrition is body's ability to eat food and to extract energy from it for growth repair and health. As it is aptly said - 'We are what we eat'. So it is very important to get enough calories and proper nutrients from what we eat. That is, our body requires a balanced diet which must include all five major nutrients – Carbohydrates, Fats, Proteins, Vitamins and Minerals.

Diet is something closely related to our health. If our body fails to get all the essential nutrients, then it suffers from malnutrition. Malnourished person is more susceptible to diseases. Lack of balanced diet also leads to eating disorders like Anorexia, Bulimia and compulsive eating.

If we focus our attention to the affluent western nations, we find many people suffering from illness due to over nutrition. Obesity is the directly linked disease due to over nutrition. But it indirectly raises blood pressure, blood sugar, leads to heart ailments and predisposes to arthritis and back aches.

Over the years there has been an alarming increase in diseases such as Arthritis, Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart disease, Stroke, Depression, Schizophrenia and Cancer. This is a Red signal for us to adopt a healthy dietary habit. Dietary habits are the outcome of cultural and individual dietary choices. But these may or may not give proper nutrition to the body of an individual..

In developed and industrialized countries people have developed a taste for 'junk' and processed food. Junk food is the creation of modern food science. It includes additives like Aspartame (sweetener), Benzoates (preservative), BHA,BHT (antidetoxidants), MSG (flavoring agents), Nitrates or Nitrites (preservative),Parabens & Sulfites(preservative), which are all hazardous to human health. Junk food has high fat content which leads to high cholesterol level. Cholestrol and salt set off BP, Stroke and Heart disease in a chain. Excessive salt can affect function of kidneys too. So a healthy diet plan says no to junk food.

On the other hand researchers are designing genetically engineered plants which contain adequate amount of all nutrients to prevent malnutrition in third world countries. These are called genetically modified organisms (GMO), e.g. Genetically modified strain of rice called 'Golden rice' has high content of Beta-Carotene and Iron to meet Vitamin A deficiency which leads to blindness.

Change in Dietary habits is important for healthy living. Eating our daily diet that includes adequate amounts of bread, cereals, grain, rice, vegetables, fruit and limits high fat food can promote health and reduce risk of developing certain chronic diseases e.g. Asthma is believed to be caused by contaminants and pollutants. But there is a link between disease and diet. Consumption of vegetables and fruits as Grapes, Orange, Tomato and Apple defend from wheeze and Nasal Allergies. Vitamin A, C, E and Phytosterols reduce airway stress. Calcium and Magnesium from milk, cheese, fish and nuts help reduce Asthma risk. Selenium protects from respiratory diseases. Omega- 3 and Omega- 6- fatty acids reduce inflammation and irritation in air passage.

According to the estimates given by World Health organization (WHO), 80% of cardiovascular disease, 90% of type II Diabetes and 30% of all cancers could be prevented by a healthy diet, adequate amount of physical exercise and by stopping smoking. Based on these estimates it is quite important to change ones diet plan from unhealthy eating to a more appropriate balanced diet. One should try to follow the dietary recommendations produced by public health agencies. These include- dietary allowance (known as RDIs or RDAs), dietary goals and dietary guidelines. Moreover the food guide pyramid given by USDA is of great help in following up the balanced diet plan.

Case study
A study investigated the behavior of breast cancer patients and their attitudes to dietary changes and the need of dietary advice during their disease.. A questionnaire was given to a total of 123 subjects. Results: The majority, 65%, were attending the clinic for treatment, 35% for follow-up. Ninety-seven patients (86%) consumed a normal Finnish diet, six (5.3%) were vegetarians and 10 (8.1%) vegetarians consuming fish and chicken occasionally. Eleven patients (8.9%) considered diet a factor contributing to their breast cancer and 38 (31.9%) had changed their dietary habits after the diagnosis of breast cancer. The main reason for change in diet was the desire to be cured of cancer (52.9% of those patients who had changed their dietary habits), in 11.8% to alleviate the symptoms of nausea and 11.8% were advised by health care professionals. The main changes reported included a reduction in the consumption of animal fat, sugar and red meat and increased consumption of fruit, berries and vegetables. Forty-nine patients (39.8%) used vitamin and mineral supplements and 27 (21.9%) consumed dietary supplements including natural products and probiotics. (European journal of clinical nutrition (Eur. j. clin. nutr.) ISSN 0954-3007 ).

In the above case it was the 'fear factor' that led people to change their dietary habit and adopt a natural healthy diet without much of fuss. But generally people continue consuming harmful junk foods even when knowing their detrimental health effects. One reason is that they don't believe the information, because they probably haven't seen enough evidence. The most likely reason is that they feel that they cannot break the pattern of behavior in their life e.g. It is difficult to give up soft drinks for some person who has been consuming them for years. Although it is known that it might be a catalyst in causing osteoporosis and impair calcification of bones in children.

So far so good, but deciding what is good and what is bad is not easy as it seems. Knowing different types of foods which are good for health is not enough. The idea is not just to gain knowledge but to apply it in the right manner. Because there's nothing such as a perfect diet. A so called 'balanced diet' may differ from person to person depending upon culture, climate, age, body constitution, medical history etc.

Based on research it can be concluded that changing dietary habit along with physical activity can in a way give new life to an individual. Not only it could lower down the risk of chronic diseases but also opens a gateway for healthy living. Implementing a balanced diet plan as recommended by USDA and including GMOs can lead to an escape from the ill effects of over and under nutrition. Lastly it can be said 'A balanced diet leads to healthy living' therefore people need to be more aware of their diet plan and should make an effort to change their eating patterns.

I have to admit when I decided to keep the blog going through the off-season I knew there would be d

I have to admit when I decided to keep the blog going through the off-season I knew there would be days like this. Not much is going on to be completely honest. But I have continued to find ways to stay busy. I am hopefully I am in the home strech of the big feature I have been putting together on Nathan Jawai. Also I have a few other things lined up that you folks should enjoy as well.

Spain will be taking on Argentina today that should be an interesting game as we head towards the olympics. I haven't got a report from my Spanish friend on the game yet but when I do it will be up for you to check out.

As kind of a follow up to the points made yesterday. Primoz Brezec and Bostjan Nachbar are both signed up for euro basketball next season and not the NBA. To this point there have not been "Big Names" heading to euro leagues. No offense to the Gangster Brezec but he is not a star. Still the numbers of players going over to Europe is growing. Like I said yesterday this is a growing issue and something the NBA will need to look at going forward.

Remember This?

Chris Bosh and Team U.S.A are getting ready for the Olympics in China. Bosh will look to be the first American gold medal winner on the roster since Vince Carter. We all remember Carter jumping over that french guy for a dunk. It may be the greatest highlight reel play I have ever seen. Carter despite all the hate of Raptor Fans in his glory days was very exciting to watch. That dunk may have been the peak of Vinsanity. It was shown all around the world. On the biggest stage the Olympic Games. It marked the end of the United States being an unbeatable force at the games as well. The most talented U.S team since that one is the odds on favourite to win this year. But if they lost a game along the way no one would be shocked or surprised. That is proof that the global game has improved just as much as it is to say the Americans have not. The U.S is having a warm-up game vs Team Canada this Friday. Be afraid!!!

I have to admit that I am very interested to get this season under way and will be interested to see the NBA Schedule when it comes out. The Atlantic Division is shaping up to be a pretty interesting place. The Sixers and Raptors have made major changes. Boston to this point is a little weaker but still the favourite heading into next year. The Knicks and Nets both have made major changes as well but do not look to have enough to stay with the top 3 teams. The Eastern Conference as a whole is slowly closing the gap on the Western Conference and it should lead to much more entertaining games.

If you ever have some questions or comments send them to me. On a day like today it could have been helpful to have a question or comment to talk about. So remember the Mail Room never closes here. Your mail is always welcomed at dinonationblogger@hotmail.com

Nate Is Retired...In Summer League

I saw something that I just thought was totally silly out of Vegas Summer League. Nate Robinson had his number retired at the Vegas Summer League. I won't lie I am not a fan of this guy. He just to me is not as good as advertised. Robinson has an ego that far overshadows his small size. I can safely say that Robinson should enjoy the fact he has his jersey retired in Vegas Summer League because it will be the only time it ever happens.

Summer League Hype

This also makes me remember that summer league is not as big a deal as we may build it up to be. The fact it gets on T.V is a big reason fans pay attention to it. Speaking of which, Raps TV is showing the games for the Raptors now. Last night they had the opener vs the Kings and tonight you can see that game again at 5pm and it will be followed by the Raptors vs Nuggets at 6pm.

This all reminds me of my childhood. Long before there was pay per view. Wrestling made it's money in Video release of events like Wrestlemania. You would wait for the videos to be released even though you already knew the results of the match-ups. That is kind of the feeling I have when waiting to watch Raps summer league games. I tried watching them live on the computer but in the end followed them watching the boxscores. I love what the New York Knicks and MSG do for summer league. They really do a good job turning it into something that they give a lot importance too. Raptors should look into doing that and sending down a crew to do up summer league big time. It would be fun.

Missade då tändningen av "the Pyre of Metal".

I was hoping to be a more frequent poster on this blog and I still hope to be but work has been very

I was hoping to be a more frequent poster on this blog and I still hope to be but work has been very busy of late and I have been spending my time at home with my totally amazing 3 month old son so I haven't had time (nor energy) to post. However, that does not mean nothing has happened. Here are my thoughts on the last few weeks.

After the two great REM shows I saw in June, I was lucky enough to have won a pair of tickets to see the free Coldplay show at MSG. Our tickets were back of the floor but I had a GREAT time at this show. This was my first time seeing Coldplay and I was totally blown away by Chris Martin's energy onstage and the tightness of this great band. Thise who know me know that my favorite band is U2. They are also my favorite live band because you walk away froM their shows with a feeling of hope and uplifting that you don't get from most bands. I walked away from this show with a little bit of that feeling. The NY Post had a very good review of the show. The Daily News had a not so good review but since my wife and I had a great time, I wont link the Daily News review. I am now really excited about seeing them in Hartford on August 2.

Spain wins Euro 2008. This is a rare time I think that football fans can clearly say that the best team of the tournament ended up winning. Well deserved.

As far as signings go, all the rumors we have heard so far (Ronaldo to Real Madrid, Kaka to Chelsea, Adebayor to Milan, Ronaldinho to Milan or LA or Man City) have NOT happened. I must admit that I LOVE Arsenal's signing of Samir Nasri. He is young and while not a good fit for many other teams right now he will fit in perfectly with Wenger's style at Arsenal.

The team I truly support, Panathinaikos, is on the verge of signing Arsenal's Gilberto Silva (that is if you believe the more often than not unreliable Greek press). However, i think this will happen and it will be good. Panathinaikos have done everything right this summer. They locked up Austrian captain Andreas Ivanschitz and with Gilberto him, Giorgios Karagounis and Helder Postiga, Panathinaikos should be well placed to make a run for the title in the Greek league as well as advance to the group stages of the Champions League.

Finally, in reality TV world, my prediction of Petrozza winning Hell's Kitchen did not come true. Chritina was the winner after what looked like an even final dinner service. Ramsay says he did it with an eye towards future potential. I don't agree with this view as it seems to take away from the purpose of having a reality show now but it is his show and restaurant.

Project Runway starts this upcoming week so that will take up my reality show viewing slot. I'll comment on this once the show begins.

Kumbaga parang home tv shopping right in front of your face.

Nakakaasiwa kasi.

There's more!". No reaction ang iba.

Eto na ang ma-ala "But wait! there's more!" na eksena.

Kailangang may bilhin raw kami from a list of products na super expensive naman.

"Ah ganun ba miss??? Sorry ha? Hindi ko kasi alam ang binibili ko. Maraming salamat at tinuruan mo ako!". My gosh! Kailangan ng ibang mga taga-SM Bacoor ng Customer Service Training! Paging management!!!

The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health.
Cara yang baik untuk

The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health.

Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then it's ready to eat.

This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.

By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic.
Jika demikian, ketika kita mendidihkan bumbu, biasanya MSG, akan merubah struktur molekul MSG menjadi bersifat racun.

The other thing that you may or may not realize is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.

CORRECT METHOD :
Cara yang benar:

1. Boil the noodles in a pot with water.
Rebus mi hingga mendidih
2. Once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
3. Boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.
4. Only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
5. However, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles and add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.

Just share this info and help save a life.

Disalah satu tayangan TV, saya melihat tatkala satu pemerintah bagian di AS terkena sanksi hukum gara-gara mengabaikan rekomendasi seorang peneliti yang selalu memperingatkannya hingga kemudian setelah sebuah gunung meletus dan mengakibatkan banyak korban kematian di sekitar gunung tersebut, baik wisatawan maupun penduduk lokal, mengingatkan saya begitu pentingnya nilai peringatan peneliti itu di mata HUKUM di negara sana.

Bagaimana di Indonesia ?? Mari kita melihat contoh, betapa kenyalnya sebuah proses pembuatan kebijakan.

Maka dimanakah pemerintah berdiri ???

Kata seorang peneliti, Dr. Iwan T. Budiarso , DVM, MSc, Phd, APU

tekanan darah tinggi (hipertensi). Dan golongan penduduk dengan kelebihan
berat badan (kekegemukan atau obes) maka risikonya naik menjadi 50%.
Hipertensi memang bukan penyakit pembunuh sejati, tetapi ia digolongkan
sebagai The Silent Killer (pembunuh diam diam).

It’s past time to blog a little. So much to say - so little time. Other “priorities

It's past time to blog a little. So much to say - so little time. Other "priorities" keep coming up, so please bear with me. Maybe I should just plan on a post every ten days - that's probably a reasonable goal and hopefully one I can meet.

I've reactivated my flicker account and will again attempt to attach some photos to this blog. If this works today, watch out, cause this site might just rock. Hope I haven't over-hyped this now.

Plenty has happened since my post on the Wednesday the 18th. I'll try to hit the high points:

Matt & Madeline were in the Twin Cities, so we had a few opportunities to spend some time with them. If you recall from my first blog, Matt inspired my blogging with his blog site www.mattlogelin.com - some day I hope to make website links the slick way instead of the 'old fashioned' way above. You may recall that Matt's wife, Liz, my wife's sister's daughter died on March 25th after giving birth to her daughter Madeline on the 24th. So trajic at a young 30 years of age. Matt's blog is a daily journal of his and Madeline's lives since the week of Liz's passing.

So now back to the M&M visit here: they were here about two weeks. Matt was catching up with folks here in his homeland including his family and Liz's family. We even experienced Madeline's 1st pool party on Father's Day. Later Matt and his brothers/friends went fishing at a family connected cabin on Mille Lacs, then on Saturday the 21st Matt's cousin Josh got married. Penny and I were invited to the wedding and really enjoyed our time there - thanks Josh and Jane! Madeline was at the wedding for a while and later headed to Candee & Toms, previous site of the pool party where we were able to join them in sharing some time with Madeline while Matt partied at the wedding. Later still, we had one last visit with Matt & Madeline on the eve before their return to the LA. Madeline was every bit as special as she appears on Matt's blog. It's so easy to love her. She's great to hold as well as she gets along with everyone.

I also had a gathering with some retired friends from my USAR career. Our breakfast meeting at the Pannekoeken Restaurant in Maplewood was most enjoyable on the morning of the 21st. Here's our group less yours truly.

Gardening and landscaping work around home has occupied a lot of my time of late. We shrunk the garden a bit and transplanted strawberries and some peonie plants as part of the shrinking process. Reducing the garden size also prompted the installation of a new gate for the garden.

Meanwhile inside the house our son, Jeff, is doing all he can to help us get better organized at home. Hopefully, we'll get there before he ships out to return to Marquette near the end of August.

Then there's my brother Dwain and his situation. It's been a tough go for him for the past few months. His weak state has forced him to move in to a nursing home in Bismarck. We're happy that he's in Bismarck after initially being in a Garrison nursing home - that home was about 75 miles from his home and his wife Elizabeth. Now she can visit him frequently. It's tough on all of us to see Dwain in this weak state, we're more used to seeing him bowling, golfing, and yes smoking. Unfortunately, Dwain has Emphazema, sleep apnea, and now an infection of his bladder or kidney. We're hoping and praying for his healing so that he can be with us as many years as possible. Dwain is 86.

Ok, I've used up my blogging time and the garden is calling. I think I'll close with a photo of our newest and wonderful great-niece, Madeline.

And one more of sleepy Madeline deep in thought!

Well I dont really have it in me to write a “review” of this show per se but write my ow

Well I dont really have it in me to write a "review" of this show per se but write my own opinion of it.

The 2nd night had tremendous energy, some crowd favorites and rarities and it had its special guests (CJ Ramone and Ace Frehley). However, after the first night at MSG, the second night was not able to top it and had too much similar in the setlist (11 of the 30 songs were the same). If I had only gone to one of the shows, I would have chosen the first, but the second did no wrong.

I did think at first Pearl Jam would be playing more newer songs because they played 3 off of their last album early on. But they didn't. As it was my last show of this tour I was a little disappointed. And not to mention that no one went with me and the person I sold my extra 10C ticket to chose to sit with his friends in a worse seat leaving me with empty space next to me and that I waited an hour and a half to get a show poster which I was not able to since they sold out. At the end I stuck around thinking I might be able to get a leftover poster even and didnt. Ah well.

I am happy with my Camden I poster however and look forward to possibly seeing Eddie Vedders solo tour at the end of summer/early autumn, as the rumours have it.

When Eddie Vedder indicated early on that the band had permission to play later than curfew, there was already a tremendous energy in the crowd. It turned out that Pearl Jam’s first night at Madison Square Garden was a real rocking evening, clocking in at nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes. With a setlist composed of mostly older songs, b-sides and several covers thrown in for good measure, Pearl Jam masterfully engaged the sizable arena audience. Whether a person only knew songs from the first albums or had been a diehard fan club member for over 10 years, there was something for everyone.

Beginning the night with “Hard to Imagine”, an old rarity, the band followed up tightly with a couple more aggressive songs before pausing to speak to the crowd. Ed prefaced the next song (“All Night”) as a song they hadn’t played live until recently and tonight wanted to try an experiment with. So he invited out three members of the crew as backup singers; they stood swinging their arms and hips like a soul group. Later they came back out to support two more songs, including “Who You Are” an eastern inflected song with raga touches that rejoined the setlist this tour after a ten-year hiatus. The unique take or the one song they might not have heard even after seeing Pearl Jam a dozen times over are the moments that diehards crave.

Even with a few other downtempo songs, like “Faithfull” and “Elderly Woman”, nothing broke the momentum as the band tore through the night. Whether it was the bands intensity fueling the crowd or vice versa there seemed no end to the energy. People shook their hands in encouragement, raised them in defiance and outstretched them in fervent passion. Songs like “Even Flow”, “Given to Fly” and “Do the Evolution” were unrelenting and only lead the crowd into the first break. They returned to play more, including a few covers like The Ramones "I Believe in Miracles" with C.J. Ramone guesting on bass, before leaving the stage one more time after the rousing "Alive". Even then people moved toward the stage; no one presumed that was the finale.

They returned for "All Along the Watchtower" and closed with "Indifference" as the house lights shone bright, allowing every attendee to feel like part of the moment. Pearl Jam is undeniably among the premier live rock acts around and their first night set the bar very high for the second night at MSG. Before "Corduroy", Ed had said that they were happy to be back in the city proper again and that the audience was causing the stage to shake. That was probably because the crowd was driven mad from waiting five years to see them play MSG again.
