Well... now that you know what I've been doing for the past week or so, let's get to the post!

Remember how I said I was going to talk about the movies I saw and Mx0? Well... the movies are a few weeks old now, so I decided I'd just list what movies I saw and give my general opinion on them. And no, I haven't seen Dark Knight yet.

Get Smart: The ads and everything pretty much spoiled the comedy. The action was pretty decent. Oh and, Anne Hathaway was pretty hot in this one =P

Wall-E: Disney's version of Inconvenient Truth. Sadly and unfortunately, I can actually see the world ending up like in the movie (People are overly obese - and that means EVERYONE, robots pretty much do everything for us..., we'll have to be sent out on a ship and live in space FOREVER - so that was just an exaggeration =P). Other than that, I found it to be very cute and heartwarming. Disney still hasn't lost their touch.

Wanted: This movie has so much action, it's ridiculous. I remember reading somewhere that it was sort of like Black Lagoon and was thinking that it describes this movie pretty well. Imagine a live action of Black Lagoon (Samuel L. Jackson as Dutch FTW =P) with all the action and none of the character development. As entertaining as it would be, it wouldn't have the same depth. But on the plus side, the characters are supposed to speak English, so things wouldn't be as confusing. Anyway, think of Wanted as a shallow version of Black Lagoon.

Hancock: A new twist to the superhero genre. And I found it to be pretty decent. What I liked was that it portrayed Hancock as a human, rather than just a superhero fighting crime and all that. So I say Hancock is awesome for that.

Now, time to talk about Mx0. I went into reading this expecting romance with a magical background. Man was I wrong. It's more like... magic with a little romance. Basically, it was a disappointment with what I was expecting. Sigh. And when I was near the end, I was like... OH MANS. HOW THEY GONNA END THIS? The ending was very... meh. SPOILERS (You have been warned): First of all, he doesn't get the girl. Second of all, they just send him to another magic school and the last that you see of him is him training. Ugh. They could've at least done a 6 months later thing showing what he learned or something. Or even better, they could surprise us all with a season 2. Though, all of the comedy comes from him not being able to use magic.

Next post will probably be about Gundam Battle Universe or something. Or I'll talk to you about two manga series I decided to re-read. Or even... BOTH!

I've been on a hunt recently for a really good manga to start reading and I found one. It's called Mx0.

It's about this guy, whom under strange circumstances beyond his control, is believed to be the BEST magic user at this magic school but... he can't use magic at all. And he falls in love with this girl, whose daddy is really mean and is a teacher there, but the dad is one of the only ones who knows his secret and has to help him out. And to me it has a wonderful combination of action, comedy and romance lol. I think it's really great. I kinda accidentily spent about 5 hours of my day reading this! I didn't even realize the time was passing by. I went through 63 chapters! Seesh! If only I read the bible like this. (Hmm more motivation to ge the Manga Bible)

I'm open to more manga recommedations btw, I dont like animes that are too dark or too sexual. This only has like 90 something chapters.. so i'll be done with it by tomorrow most likely T.T Ugh, I need more of a social life...  someone take me to the movies!

M×0 el personaje central se llama Taiga Kuzumi, se irrita con facilidad y sabe darse en la madre con la demás gente. Durante la entrevista para determinar si podría entrar a la Escuela Privada de Seinagi (私立聖凪高校, Shiritsu Seinagi Kōkō?), A Taiga le preguntan que haría si el pudiera usar magia. "Conquistar el mundo" contesto y que inmediatamente fue contestado por la carcajada de una hermosa señorita. Después de ese momento Taiga se olvida de todo, de la entrevista, de la escuela, de dios y queda maravillado con la cute girl. Y por eso no se queda en la escuela. Culpando a la bonita señorita corre a la escuela a confrontarla o culpar la, en fin algo... Pero cuando se acerca se da cuenta de que  esta no es cualquier escuela, ya que un profesor lo recibe flotando... y que sucede... un desmadre en la escuela... y que consigue, entrar a la escuela, pero por todas las barbaridades que provoco ahora tiene que ocultar su identidad y ponerse como el mejor mago de la escuela.... Sera difícil engañar a todos... veamoslo

Y les comento que el manga es genial bajenlo o les pico lo ojos, como santa lo hiso.... el manga ya termino... o mas bien lo cancelaron.. Hijos de perra... lo terminaron de una manera bien macuarra en el capitulo 99 tomo 09....pero bueno, mas les vale pagar por ese pecado.. pronto ¬¬... Estaré poniendo los que faltan pronto...

Kuzumi Taiga aluno delinquente que na sua entrevista da entrada na escola o que faria se podesse usar a mágica. "conquistar o mundo"é a sua resposta, seguida por um momento do riso de uma menina. Ele entrou na escola para vê-la novamente mas acaba descobrir essa escola não e uma escola comum, ela e uma escola mágica. Varios eventos começa quando ele foi capturado por um professor, que por coincidência era o pai da garota que ele estava procurando. Ele acabou transferindo como um novo aluno, é o único aluno que não sabe usar magia.
O protagonista masculino tem o clássico delinqüentes atitude. Ainda assim, ele dá uma enorme sensação de vitória de cada vez que ele sai por cima depois de passar pelo inferno. O que é mais surpreendente é o seu pensamento intuitivo e nunca esquecendo a fazer esse comentário espirituoso.

Esta manga, em geral, é uma hilariante e muito agradável ação - romance - comédia com um espantoso diversas sobrenatural lado para ele. Tem um monte de colocados em consideração o sistema de magia. Ele tem uma história incrível, porque é enunciado de uma forma que o leitor seja tomada em um passeio e nunca parar de enraizamento para a personagem principal. Este tipo de manga, por outro lado, já foi feito, mas se não se importa, você certamente vai desfrutar de muita diversão mágica. Esta manga é realmente digno de uma adaptação animada

WHAT!?! WAS THAT ALL!? What about the rest of the story? Ugh...damn...and I REALLY liked Mx0... -_-

I don't read much manga {or manga chapters} nor follow their initial releases {I prefer reading them in bulks}...so I missed the news about Mx0 ending prematurely. If I had read that, I probably might have prepared myself for the premature and unsatisfying ending of Mx0. '''orz

Mx0 was actually one of the better shounen manga out there {by my tastes that is} and it had a lot of potential for drama and action...and comedy of course!! ^_^ I seriously was hoping for the Mitsuki - Kazumi - Hiiragi love triangle to get some serious development...or some comedic misunderstanding that would test their feelings. But above all, I was hoping for move magic battles and fights for supremacy...but alas, none of that will come because Mx0 has ended.

I will miss Lucy... :(

De unos meses para acá empecé a leer Mx0 y ver esta noticia me desaslentó un poco. Canned Dogs reporta que según un "espia" en Jump que postea en 2ch Mx0 Terminará en los próximos 3 ó 4 capitulos.

¿Qué es Mx0? Bueno, es un Manga Shonen comedia-romantica de acción, escrito por Yasuhiro Kanō que trata sobre una escuela donde enseñan a los estudiantes a hacer y utilizar magia, y las aventuras y problemas que pasa un estudiante común (sin habilidades mágicas), Kuzumi Taiga, quien fue admitido bajo circunstancias especiales....

La cara de Aika lo dice todo...

Me sorprendio ver que terminará tan abruptamente (supongo que por bajas ventas/popularidad) debido a que es de esos mangas que tienen de donde agarrarse para seguir un buen rato, y que dejaron varios hilos sueltos que dificilmente se pueden resolver satisfactoriamente en 3 ó 4 capitulos de 17 hojas.

El arte es agradable a la vista, tiene una cantidad de ecchi justa que no cae en la exageración y los personajes e historia son graciosos cuando deben, en fin, tampoco es el mejor manga jamás escrito, pero es regular, entretenido y ps me agrada :(

Ps nada, ahora solo falta esperar a ver como termina :(

This has to be the worst news since they announced that bleach was going back to stupid fillers.The only thing worse about this is that I only knew about it today.Yasuhiro Kano,the man resposible for inspiring me to read ecchi manga for many many years has got to be the most unlucky person on earth.This last work,Pretty Face,was cancelled prematurely after a year.The problem was,I loved every single chapter of his works.I love his art style,I love his sense of humour and his erotic tastes depicted in his manga.

The good news is that its going to be a few more chapters before the end,but I just hope he gets back on his feet after this devastating news to bring us more of his works soon.

As you all know, I was on the verge of death as I was writing 6000 freakin words of pure Soviet krap. I finally felt reborn as I handed in the 2nd one today. But mah tutor had to go and ruin it by saying, I won't give you the topics for your next 2000 (x2) words essays YET. I'll wait until a week after for you to be deluded by the sweetness of free life then I'll hand them out when its ever so close to your exams.

Well, looks like I'm alive again for another week. Seriously, I feel as if college was kindergarten compared to Uni (YES! Omg! For who don't / has never (hopefully will never, no offense Aussies) live in Australia, High School is called college here).  Anywho, Johnie refused me the joy of rebirth by forgetting to bring me the game cds I asked of him. Even though I spent like 5 mins yelling at him to stuff it in his bag. But noooooo he was like: I'll wait and see if I can remember later on in the evening, kho`h kho`h kho`h (<- his trademark weirdass pervert old man dying while high on cocaine laugh).

Alright, back to philosphical ramblings. Right, so as you all know, death is an inevitable part of life. If you didn't, too bad, ya do NOW (and seriously, read more books or something). Ehem, so, why do humans continue on living knowing that they'll eventually die and be reduced to nothingness (actually, you'll be reduced to an old corpse rotting away six feet under the cold wet icky ground while nature is sucking every last bit of you out to make the ground around your grave green and lively, ironic eh?). In any case, what are we living for? Is it for the sake of sadistically bringing more of us to this miserable world or suffering and cruelty? Or is it for the sake of our utterly infinite egos, preserving the existence of a bloodthirsty and war-mongering race? Well, in Johnie's case it'd be for the sake of being as indebted as possible to brothels and the like. But he's "special", so we'll disregard him. I guess every individual has a different reason for their existence. Some realise it and some don't.

Well, I've wasted that last paragraph trying to make you people who read my posts (I'm feeling like theres no1, sniff) to feel most krap about your own existence. Fun, eh?

YES! OMFG they're killing Mx0!!!!! DIE JUMP DIE!!!! Dammit, I swear to god universal knowledge that Jump has been taken over by a bunch of monkey high on caffeine. Seriously, Mx0 of all mangas?! So, I tribute half-ish of this post as a farewell to Mx0's crazy ecchi magical rampaging hormones school-life cute girls goodness... May you rest in peace... Sniff.

For one thing,it compressed 2 to 3 chapters of the manga into small segments of episodes and shuffled it about for a heightened randomness.The characters were ingeniously portrayed with extra add on including references to the popular reality TV series 24 for example.Up until now I have quietly accepted this fact but after watching episode 9 of  Okawari I suddenly realised that this was what I was hoping for all this time.What is THIS?Amazingly the episode consisted of 2 entirely different segments(although the latter was extremely short) and had totally random elements during the episode akin to the first season.Apart from Chiaki's indifferent watch anime 3 metres from the TV bla bla,it was very reminiscent of season 1 and I actually laughed (O.O)I know I know.You made me read all this for that?!But God I just had to say this before I explode (X.X)

Also I have decided to do episode reviews for this until the spring season starts.I have my eye on Kanakon and Wagaya Midnight although its yet to be confirmed when both of them are out but I am keeping my fingers crossed.Why?!What about Code Geass R2?!Suzumiya S2?!Yes I'll watch them too but whether I can bring myself to review them is another thing.

 Next I am pleased to announced that I have formed my scanlation group with me as supreme dictator overlord, translator,editor,cleaner,proofreader and raw provider.Having said that it is still unclear as to what this group is going to be called as it is technically a party of one for now.So here is a sample of my work although I was lazy to clean up the text/background and I was unsure whether I was translating right.This is my version of MxO chapter 90 which came out in raw.I did compare my translations with others and yes I realised that I still have a long way to go(mada mada dane...)I have noticed some mistakes here but its a learning process.

Just so you know I'm not planning to release anything until I am sure about the quality.I am also searching for titles to do while I do have raws to a few series.SO I am recruiting anybody now.Anybody!! As long as you aren't a con artist and can speak English.

Updates:I have found a new series to try out.With the first release(Chapter 1A) tentatively planned for mid April.Until then I am still searching for reliable translators(japanese-highest priority),cleaners,editors etc. And even raw providers.So far I am commited to release this no matter what.Even if a another scanlation group does it.Even if my version sucks in comparison to whoever's version.I'll announce my group's name by then.

On the outside, Seinagi High School is a prestigious high school. However, unknown to the public, it is actually a school where students learn magic skills. The protagonist, Kuzumi Taiga, wanted to prove the teachers who looked down on him wrong by joining the prestigious high school. Unfortunately, he failed the test at the interview and thus was not qualified for a place in the school. However, Taiga could care less if he was qualified or not. He met a girl who sat for the same interview as he did and fell utterly in love with her. Taiga was not able to stop thinking of her, so he decided to look for her at Seinagi High in a bid to confess his love for her.

After being caught sneaking into school grounds, Taiga managed to escape from the highly-skilled magic teacher, Hiiragi, after tying him to a tree. Taiga escaped further into the school but only to find himself getting into more trouble with magic-wielding students! Later, an announcement was made to the whole school to capture the invader and even a bounty was placed on the capture of Kuzumi Taiga. After a series of hide-and-seek, the students mistook an accident that knocked Mr. Hiiragi unconscious while blowing up the whole room to be a powerful magic cast by Kuzumi Taiga.

The school of magic has a rule stating that shall an outsider come to know of the existence of magic, the person behind the cause will have all his relations to the school cut off and his memories related to the school erased. This means that Mr. Hiiragi will be sacked from the school and have his memories erased with Taiga suffering the same fate. But Taiga does not wish to forget the girl that he loves. So now both of them have to work together to keep the fact that Taiga was actually not a Seinagi High student under blankets. In order to do that, they must make it look so that Taiga knows how to cast magic spells when in fact he is unable to.

This manga is very high in entertainment value. The plot thus far is nothing short of humorous. Unlike many other shonen comics, the protagonist in this story possesses neither strong powers nor hidden talents (at least thus far). But ignorant to this fact, competitive magic students all wish to defeat Taiga in order to create a name for themselves. How will a magically-disable Taiga fend these persistent challengers off when he only has his wits and physical mettle against students who has an arsenal of magic spells up their sleeves!?

Humor (How much I laughed): 8/10
Plot (Storyline): 7/10
Character Design (Well, just... Character Design): 8/10
Overall (Overall feel of the manga): 9/10 (Solid, must-read manga!)

This is part one of my "shounen cliche" series. I already have Action Shounen and Shounen Romance, and I'm thinking of writing about Shounen Sports too.

I usually say shounen crap here, shounen crap there, just for the sake of argument, though I read some myself. (yes, I don't watch) It's just that I really don't like those rabid fangirls that squeals here and squeal there saying <insert character here> is uber cool, not knowing why <this character> is cool and not even knowing what "uber" means.

Most of the anime/manga fans grew up with Dragonball or <insert action shounen series here> so, we all have "shounen action fan" blood with us.

But, most of current series are merely DBZ iterations or follows the DBZ formula or basic shounen anime rules. they just change the setting to ninjas, exorcists, basketball players, boxers etc.

I'm really not sure who set up the standards in action shounen, though in every angle it's pretty much DragonBall.

So it turns out that Naruto is Goku that became a ninja and instead of his hair turning blond, (hey, his hair's yellow in the first place) he grows tails instead, and BLEACH is just a fashionable DragonBall with swords, youkai instead of alien monkeys and random mexican terms.

Note that older action shounen series deviate from these rules btw. Most of them just follows a common enemy throughout the series, and instead of arcs, it is divided into generations. (sons, grandsons etc.) Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Hokuto no Ken are examples. While others are in one goal per one or two episode format like City Hunter or Detective Conan. But old action shounen series can be classified as seinen this days due to their graphic nature. (Though some still mistake seinen series as shounen like Cowboy Bebop). So, how do we quickly differentiate Shonen and Seinen? Both has fanservice right? and of course boob shots in onsen or bath episodes.. check the boobs, if it has nipples it's seinen, if there's none it's shonen.

Extra note: older series tend to do the one story per 1~3 episode format and does one big arc (4~up episode) as season/series enders.

Here are the rules I compiled, not entirely complete, but I guess most of it catches the basics. I provided examples from modern shounen series so that you can visualize it.

Another note: I increased my Shounen knowledge during my break and read a lot of popular and uncommon titles as well.

Moar notes: you must hate me for having lotsa notes.. but it looks like my layout is screwed in Firefox and IE. (I use Opera lol) some words are hidden in the background. If a sentence doesn't make sense, there are usually words hiding on the far right though some are grammatical errors.

Characters

Main Character

There are actually two types of main character, the effin emo guy with a bad past, and the cheery guy that is actually a genius at being an idiot, or both.

Hmm let see... emo guy could be Bleach's Ichigo Kurosaki (haha) and cheery guy.. (there's a lot) maybe i'll pick Fairy Tail's Natsu Dragonil

Well, either ways... they all look like wusses, has gravity-defying hairstlye (most, but not all.. like D.GrayMan's Allen Walker), and their godlike powers are usually inborn. (inborn... DBZ's Goku duh)

Other Characters (Traits)

There are different types of characters in the main guy's party and it's usually made up of at least 4 members

1. Bestfriend/Rival

This guy is usually on par with the main character in terms of superpowers, and he is usually the opposite of the main guy. for example, if main guy is cheery, this guy has a bad past. if main guy is an idiot, this one is a genius. Notable examples, Nartuo's Sasuke and hmm... let's see... Shaman King's Ren Tao

2. Potential Girlfriend

The main guy's love interest, useful in battle... as bait. Well, not most of the time as some can fight too like MÄR's Snow or Bleach's Rukia.

3. an Idiot

When the main character is not the idiot someone has to take it's place. Good for cleaning up small fry and sometimes useful in big fights. An example is Yu Yu Hakusho's Kuwabara.

4. a trap

Since shounen action is aimed for boys, creators usually pit in some traps for girls to whore on. "Moneymaking technique" in short. notable examples are Yu Yu Hakusho's Kurama and Flame of Recca's Tokiya Mikagami.

5. Musclebound character

Can be combined with the idiot trait, and his role is usually the same with the idiot character

6. fanservice character

If there's another girl in the party she's usually the fanservice character, not good at fighting and not good at everything except having big boobs (well, not most of the time..) the only thing she's good at is getting captured like Bleach's Inoue Orihime.

Though there are fanservice characters that has a lot of contributions in the party and in the story, for instance, MÄR's Dorothy, Flame of Recca's Fūko Kirisawa and not to forget DBZ's Bulma (yeah, she's a fanservice character)

Villains

Big Boss (the series ender, not arc ender)

The big boss is, unfortunately the main guy's relative, (father, brother, mother, etc) or his Bestfriend/Rival turned evil. example? Nartuo, duh or MÄR

Smiling Guys

smiling guys, are smiling... haha either foe or friend... they're effin dangerous. mostly second in power rating of the arc boss... like Rurouni Kenshin's Soujiro Seta

Arc Bosses

Arc bosses, are pretty strong at his arc but when he becomes yer ally, the writers decides to nerf 'em.

Plot / Storyline

1. New Arc, New Enemy, New Power, New Transformation Lather, Rinse, Repeat

After the main character was beaten helplessly in the arcs transition phase, he usually trains for a few frames. (which is equivalent to months or years, or Dragonball's special "training room") He then gains a new power just to "befriend" the new enemy. examples are Hitman Reborn's Tsuna and his crew gained new powers during the Future arc then, Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Regarding New Transformations... remember Shaman King where their Power Spirits became weapons, then mechs, then smaller, stronger weapons? or how about Bleach's Bankai for newer fans.

2. Yesterday's enemies are tomorrow's allies

So, why not "TODAY"? Yesterday's enemies usually come back in another arc as allies. An example is Gaara's crew coming back in Sasuke's arc to help and of course, Piccolo and Vegeta from DBZ. In Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's "Diamond is Unbreakable" arc, Josuke made around 60% of the villains (from start to end) into his allies

3. You can usually find ladderized fights or tournaments

Every action shounen anime features a tournament arc. Notable examples are Dragonball's YuYu Hakusho's and Flame of Recca's. If a fighting tournament is not present, we can find ladderized fights, where the main character must go through different levels of people before reaching the big boss, such as BLEACH's Soul Society Arc.

This is where the main character usually find allies, therefore the previous rule applies.

There ARE special cases too, cooking tournament anyone? yes Cooking Master Boy falls under shounen category too, not to mention he gained a lot of allies throughout his cooking battles.

4. Sudden release of hidden power

Ok, we got a new arc and new power, and prolly some new transformations too. But, in the end we got beat up. So what do we do? NEW HIDDEN POWER

5. Flashback Arcs

Usually the mangaka's scapegoat when he/she runs out of materials. Flashback arcs are usually found before a big arc, or when the series is nearing its end.

Misc

So, shounen manga is for boys... How do we get girls to read it?

Simple, a gay bishie emo trap character. Not necessarily the main hero, he can be the hero's rival or some underling or even the main antagonist.

Most popular example is Nartuo's Sasuke.

Shounen Series usually spans up to forever

A Series usually dies if the creator doesn't get more money from rabid fanboys (and girls). there are old ones still running though, like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure that spanned for 7 Generations of Jojo (well, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure can be considered under the seinen genre these days).

Things may be added whenever I find new information.

I'm lazy to put links for each example I posted, oh well I guess I'll edit and add more in the next few days.

So, why is Anime Tenchou the header image? lol, no reason really. Also, there are some f-tards in the interwebs saying anime tenchou is a reference to either Akane Maniax's Jouji or Go Nagai's art. well, its kinda wrong, since Anime Tenchou (Meito Anizawa) is from his own anime. a promotional anime for Animate produced by GAINAX. (therefore the hotbloodedness)

Synopsis -
M×0 centers around a young man named Kuzumi Taiga who has a hot-headed temper and is able to hold his own in a fight. During an interview to determine if he can attend Seinagi Private High School (私立聖凪高校, Shiritsu Seinagi Kōkō^?) that he had plans of joining, Taiga is asked what he would do if he could use magic. "Take over the world" is his reply and it is quickly followed by an outburst of laughter from a very cute girl. Upon confronting the girl, she realizes how rude it was of her to laugh at his answer and tries to apologize, ultimately grasping his hands with tears in her eyes. After that point, he does not remember much else about the interview, but one thing he cannot change: he failed to enter the school. Blaming the girl for his failing to enter the school, he goes to Seinagi to confront her about it, when a teacher mistakes Taiga for a student ditching class and pulls him through some type of strange energy barrier that surrounds the school. Without realizing what has just happened, he has set foot on a school dedicated to teaching its students how to use magic, though the shock of his first encounter with it freaks him out so much that he tries to get away from the teacher as fast as he can, effectively convincing the latter that he is a suspicious person. After a confrontation where he is hit with a rather odd spell, he is able to tie the teacher up and run away. Unfortunately, he gets into some more trouble with some upperclassman and during this time is surprised to have found the girl from the interview attending the school. His main priority is then changed from merely survival in a strange land to finding this girl and conveying his feelings of romantic attraction to her, which have most suddenly become clear to him.

Before long, however, he runs into the same teacher from before and has yet another fight with him. All the teacher wants to do is erase his memory of the school in order to keep the place a secret from the outside world, but Taiga still has to tell the girl how he feels. During the fight, despite not knowing any magic whatsoever, Taiga dodges the teacher's attacks and by some dumb luck subdues the teacher once again, completely incapacitating him. At this point, who should appear but the girl he's been searching for, who screams out to her father who was just beaten by Taiga. Angry at what he's done, the girl, whose name is Hiiragi Aika, uses her own magic and blows him away.

Later on, due to various circumstances surrounding strict rules of the school, Taiga is admitted into the school but with only one difference from all the other students: he can't use magic. He must now try to survive in a school of magic and try to fool the entire school that he's a powerful mage at the same time. - Wikipedia

I got sucked in like Taiga. I was like..."Sure, I'll check out the first one or two chapters and see how it goes." Then I saw Aika pleading for Taiga to not be mad at her. Holy god. Besides the obvious fact that Aika is an angel, the story is amusing and interesting at the same time. And for some reason, I always find the main girl's best friend cuter than see is. For example, Hashiba Miki instead of Suzuka. (Or Honoka.) In this case, it's Mikuni.
