For those of you who haven't been following/profiting from my picks over the past month, I've hit a career high 5 "LOCK of the Week"s in a row. Yeah, I'm bragging and jinxing but I do know at least one person has been profiting from my "advice." The secret to my success...well, I can't tell you or else it wouldn't be a secret and you wouldn't need me anymore. Enough of the boasting, time for business. This week's spreads are pretty tough. There aren't that many games that I like but you know me, I haven't let you down in over a month and I don't plan on doing so now. So without further adue, the LOCK of the Week is NY Jets -3 at the Oakland Raiders. Take the Jets -3, take it now, take it before the spread moves. BETUS.COM has the line at -3 and well, that's where I've placed my bets. These two franchises are going in two different directions. The Jets are a serious playoff contenders and the Raiders, well I hate to use a cliche` but they are MAJOR pretenders. The Jets are coming off a solid performance against the Bengals while the Raiders, just another embarrassing 34-3 loss at the hands of the Saints. Don't try to stray away from the master (that's me), as the real ART OF SPORTS BETTING is something you can't perfect overnight. So in case you forgot, head over to BETUS.COM, sign up or sign in, and let the good times roll...

This week the oddsmakers must have read my mind. There are not many upsets that jump off of the page, all of the picks look very solid point wise besides the two I have listed below. There are a few favorites who will win by more than the spread. Here are the week 7 picks.

Spread underdogs to win:

New Orleans Saints (+3) vs. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were just embarassed by Tampa Bay (27-3), and the Saints crushed the hopeless Raiders. Even traveling to Carolina shouldn't pose a problem for the Saints offense who has only been getting better. Reggie Bush looks like Reggie Bush should, and Drew Brees has been hitting nameless receivers all season long. This will be a good game to watch, and the Saints will come out with a win 28-21.

Denver Broncos (+3) vs. New England Patriots
The Patriots look terrible. Tom Brady should come out and play on crutches, that would be better than Matt Cassel. I am waiting for the Patriots to announce the rookie O'connell as the starting QB but the team seems to be committed to starting Cassel. The Denver Broncos have had problems on defense, but they won't need to worry because Cassel will give them several gifts throughout the game. The Broncos should also get TE Tony Scheffler back who is a huge piece for this offense. Broncos distroy the Patriots in New England 31-14. Read the Rest Here

i absolutely love the styles for this fall and winter. there is such variety available in line, fabric, and overall design. for once, it seems like there is something that almost anyone with any body type of any age can wear.

my personal favorites are the sweater dress, tunic and/or cardigan. i have bought two sweater type tunics and they are so comfortable and hide all my trouble spots! however, i have noticed that the size has to be right. a bit too small and an unsightly silhouette appears; a bit too big and one can easily look pregnant! being short, the 3/4 sleeve looks best on me t-shirt and long sleeves tend to emphasize it. sleeveless also works on me well. if you are thin, the thicker sweater knits will look great on you but for someone a bit more curvy, i recommend the thinner knits.

besides comfort, one of my favorite things about tunics is that they can be so easily layered; perfect for the changing weather here in houston. i love to pair them with leggings, tights and even jeans. a smooth pant works best so as to avoid zipper and/or button closure bumps .they are also great with skirts but i think you need to be tall or at least of average height to pull that off.

here are a few that really like. there are so many that i just added the first few that caught my eye.

ColinNicol.com Exclusive! The Colts are going to the Super Bowl! I hope you saw that domination

ColinNicol.com Exclusive! The Colts are going to the Super Bowl! I hope you saw that domination today, that was amazing, where did that defense come from, and we didn't even have Bob Sanders playing. I realize that the Baltimore offense isn't as good as most, but we were damn impressive no matter who you are playing. I belive there were 4 turnovers, and I believe we held Baltimore to less than 12 first downs throughout the game, man that was just sweet.

The offense looked amazing to, that was a flash back to like 4 years ago when the Colts would put up 30-40 points on anybody. It was just awesome, sorry to see Joseph Addai go out early, but Dominic Rhodes stepped it up huge, and I can't say enough for Michael Hart, unfortunately he got hurt as well and didn't return but from the initial sideline report one hopes that he will be back next week. Michael Hart had probably the most impressive run of the day on 3rd and like 3-4, he got hit at the line of scrimmage, then a yard later, then another yard later by 2 guys and still made the first down, I know converting on a 3rd and 4 doesn't seem like a lot, but what he showed right there is enough to keep him on the team for a while.

So besides the Colts, my picks today went pretty damn well. 9-3 going into Monday night, are you serious, thats freaking awesome! I told you I felt good about the picks this week.

Well it was a good week, and now its time to hit the sack I do believe. You have a great night and I'll see you soon.

Last Week: 7-7 Overall Record: 35-23

Chicago over ATLANTA - Turner doesn't get anything going on the ground, which causes the whole Falcons offense to sputter. The Bears keep grinding it out and winning football games.

HOUSTON over Miami - At home, the Texans win their first game. They played extremely well against the colts and should have won (I called the Peyton Manning big game last week!) if the game ended 5 minutes earlier. I think Slaton has a big game and they win this one.

INDIANAPOLIS over Baltimore - I just don't think that, at home, you are going to be able to beat the Colts. Especially if you're Baltimore, who doesn't really have an offense to keep up with them. With no help from Addai, Manning shines again.

MINNESOTA over Detroit - Adrian Peterson busts out for a huge game here. But the bottom line is this, pick anyone over Detroit right now.

NEW ORLEANS over Oakland - I think the Saints are going to be a little unhappy about losing last week. Look for big games from Drew Brees and Lance Moore in this one.

NEW YORK JETS over Cincinnati - Brett Favre's last performance was epic. Six touchdowns. I see 3 more coming this week against a poor Cincinnati defense.

TAMPA BAY over Carolina - Tampa Bay has a great defense. They have a knack for winning games, I think they pull it out here.

WASHINGTON over St. Louis - Washington is such a good team. Solid road victories the last two weeks, they win this one at home easily.

DENVER over Jacksonville - Jay Cutler has a big game here against a tough defense. This is a real close one, but the fact that Jacksonville's ground game continues to be nonexistent hurts them here.

Dallas over ARIZONA - Finally I pick a road victory! Arizona was very impressive last week, but they have been real inconsistent this season. I think this is a game where they struggle.

Philadelphia over SAN FRANCISCO - I am actually becoming a San Francisco fan. However, Philly is just too good to lose this one. Westbrook is out, but McNabb will step up and play another great game.

Green Bay over SEATTLE - Losing to Atlanta last week is all the motivation this Packer's team is going to need. Look out Seattle, you could be in for a pounding.

SAN DIEGO over New England - Matt Cassel struggles in this one and New England still continues to have a nonexistent run game. That combination spells disaster for the Pats.

New York Giants over CLEVELAND - New York has been dominating teams they are supposed to dominate. Cleveland is definitely one of those teams. Can you say blowout?

Another solid week, going 5-0 straight up and 4-1 ATS, leaving me 8-1 and 7-2 respectively. This week, Cal and U-Dub are off and the Pac-10 matchups are not that intriguing.

USC 30 Arizona State 10 (USC by 27): What was a battle of the backups is just now a mismatch. That said, ASU has held Georgia to 27 and Cal to 24. The Sun Devils won't score a lot of points, but they won't give up a lot of big plays either.

Oregon 31 UCLA 17 (Oregon by 17): I'm still not sold on the Ducks. They're 4-2 and with average quarterback play, they'd be at least 5-1. Even worse is their vaunted secondary that has struggled thus far. Oregon will win, but UCLA will be ready for the Ducks.

Oregon State 41 Washington State 10 (Oregon State by 30): Wazzu had an American Idol competition for their third string QB. No, really.

Stanfurd 27 Arizona 24 (Arizona by 6): This is not a bad Arizona team, but their schedule thus far has been extremely week, including a loss to New Mexico. The Furd will present the toughest test thus far for the Wildcats. If they're for real, they win this game. Preblem for them, they aren't for real.

I had another 2-1 week last week but I have to go 3-0. It will be tough this week because of the Texas-Oklahoma game. I normally wouldn't take this game but it's such a big game and everyone will be into it that I can't pass it up. This week might be the most difficult week so far.

(5) Texas v (1) Oklahoma (-6.5)

ATS: Texas 5-0, Oklahoma 4-0

Home/Away: Game played at a neutral site (Cotton Bowl in Dallas)

Pick: Oklahoma

There are a lot of stats you could throw out for this game but it may just come down to a gut feeling. I'll give you some info anyway. These teams have split the last four meetings. Texas hasn't given up more than 14 points to any team this year and has not scored less that 35 in those games.

Sam Bradford is among the leaders in every passing category. If he keeps this up, I see a Heisman in his future. Colt McCoy has added speed to his game to make him more balanced. He's also the Longhorns leading rusher but is that good or bad?

Oklahoma is ranked 4th in points scored and 15th in points allowed. Texas is 6th in points scored and 7th in points allowed.

This is a very tough game to pick and the stats may not mean much. The game is in Dallas. Does that give Texas any kind of egde? Can Colt McCoy win the "Big One"? After everything, I just think the Sooners are a touchdown better than Texas. This might be a good game to walk away from. Don't take my word for it. Only take this game if you feel strongly about it.

Oklahoma 30-23

New Mexico @ (8) BYU (-23)

ATS: NM 3-3, BYU 2-2

Home: BYU 3-0, Away: NM 1-1

Pick: BYU

In three home games this year BYU has won 44-0 (Wyoming), 59-0 (UCLA) and 44-17 (N. Iowa). The Cougars are 7th in passing yards and the D is 8th in points allowed. New Mexico ranks 100th in offensive yards per game and 100th in passing yards given up per game. New Mexico will be without their starting quarterback in this one. Look for a rout here.

BYU 45-10

Temple @ Central Michigan (-7.5)

ATS: Temple 5-1, CMU 2-2

Home: CMU 2-0, Away: Temple 2-2

Pick Central Michigan

Central Michigan beat Temple two years ago but this should be an improved Owl team from that one. Central Michigan can throw the ball but are 97th in total D. Temple has a below average offense and is 82nd in total D. While Central Michigan lost to Georgia and Purdue, Temple lost away at Buffalo. Both teams may not be great but I think it's the quarterback play that makes the difference here.

Central Michigan 23-13

UAB is a son of a b. Did you see that game last night?! They were up 20-3 at halftime. 20-3! That was a 35 point lead against the spread! They'd almost have to not score in the second half and let Houston put up 21 points per quarter in order to blow that lead. Ohhhhh wait... that's exactly what happened. COME ON!!!

Anyway, I have four more picks for the weekend. For what it's worth...

[NCAA] South Carolina @ Kentucky: Honestly, I think these are pretty evenly matched teams... both on offense and defense. Kentucky probably does more scoring, but it should be a good matchup. But I'll tell you what... Kentucky is 4-1. And their only loss came last week, on the road, against Alabama -- where they lost by 3 (they were getting 15). I think they come home this week and prove to the fans that they really have what it takes. The fact that they're getting points is icing on the cake. I take Kentucky to win here.
South Carolina @ Kentucky: Kentucky +3

[NCAA] Bowling Green @ Akron: There's one big red flag for this game... Bowling Green likes to throw the ball... Akron can slow that down. Akron likes to throw the ball... Bowling Green cannot slow that down. That's what it comes down to for me here. Plus Akron is at home and is yet to win a home game. I feel good about this one.
Bowling Green @ Akron: Akron +1

[NCAA] Boise State @ So Mississippi: Boise State is a tough team; they throw the hell out of the ball, and they score a lot. Which explains why 80% of the money (ATS) is on them. And I like that. What I like even more is that the spread for this game started at -12.5 for Boise State and has come down to -10.5 -- despite all of the money on them. It's crazy logic every time, but it sure makes things interesting. I'm going with the underdog home team here.
Boise State @ So Miss: So Miss +10.5

[NFL] Dallas @ Arizona: I'm hesitant to even pick an NFL game after the past few weeks, but I'm doing it, and I'm taking the Cardinals. I think they'll be just as successful on offense as Dallas. And I like that they're an underdog at home. They look good at home. I have a feeling they'll keep this game close -- maybe even pull off an upset. I'm cheering for Arizona all the way.
Dallas @ Arizona: Arizona +5

Since every week Dan will be offering up 5 college picks against the spread, I will follow his lead

Since every week Dan will be offering up 5 college picks against the spread, I will follow his lead and offer up 5 NFL picks for the upcoming weekend's action. Same concept: five games/five picks. On to the picks.

New York Jets (+7.5) over Cincinnati: Originally I had this game picked like this simply because Eric Mangini seems to have kicked into "Brett Favre" mode. Everything this offense does is now focused on what Brett can accomplish for them. Week 2: 1st and goal from the 3, 3 runs, 3 points. Week 4: 1st and goal from the 3, 1 pass, 7 points. I see the Jets taking off in this one, throwing at will, and running away late. I feel much more comfortable with this pick, now, since hearing that Ryan Fitzpatrick will be starting over the injured Carson Palmer. New York 35, Cincinnati 10.

Detroit (-13) over Minnesota: When I was looking at the spreads for this weeks game this 13pt abberration from the norm jumped out at me. I was expecting to see it next to a Dallas/St. Louis matchup. When I noticed the team giving 13 points was Minnesota I grew giddy. On top of that, it is against a Detroit team (who obviously has been TERRIBLE all year long) that can explode for big points at any given time. I understand Kitna won't be playing but those Detroit receiving weapons should put up a solid fight against a weak Viking pass defense and a very generous spread. They probably won't win it outright, but they should be able to keep it close. Minnesota 28, Detroit 24.

Chicago (+3) over Atlanta: The Falcons have been somewhat of a surprise team this year. Matt Flynn has looked very comfortable with this offense in his rookie year. However, this team has not put up a W against anyone impressive (Detroit, Kansas City, @ Green Bay - w/ injured Aaron Rogers) thus far. Their victories have been close while their losses have been blowouts, and I see this one in the L column for the Falcons. The Bears are playing very well on both sides of the ball, and seem to have found something pretty special with the back field duo of Kyle Orton and Matt Forte. Chicago 23, Atlanta 10.

Jacksonville (-3) over Denver: Jacksonville has dropped some heart breakers this season, but they still look like a very solid team. Denver has been way too inconsistent (despite only 1 loss) to make me feel confident enough to lay 3 points. It'll be close, but I feel the Jaguars should bounce back nicely from a touch loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday night. Jacksonville 20, Denver 17.

New York Giants (+8) over Cleveland: This Giants team has looked as good as anybody so far this year. Some may argue their schedule has been light, thus far, but good teams always beat the teams they are supposed to beat. That is exactly what the Giants have done. The scary thing is that they are doing it with EVERYONE. The talent of their depth is unbelievable. The Browns have been one of, if not the, most disappointing teams in the NFL. This one should be a laugher. That eight points doesn't scare me at all. New York 34, Cleveland 13.

Before we get to the NFL picks for the week, I have to say I am almost more excited about the Saturd

Before we get to the NFL picks for the week, I have to say I am almost more excited about the Saturday slate of college action this weekend than I am about the NFL games. On Saturday you have Oklahoma-Texas, a game that is WAY more important than that overhyped Ohio State-USC game from a few weeks ago. OU-Texas might well end up being the game of the year, as both teams have dominated so far this year. You also have LSU-Florida in Gainesville, which will no doubt be a critical game in the SEC. My Missouri Tigers will continue to try to put up 50 points each week against Oklahoma State, which has also been averaging 50 points a game this year, so that game should be a very entertaining wild shootout. I also want to keep an eye on another high powered offense in Texas Tech. Will they put 70 points up on Nebraska? The mixture of college and pro action, plus the baseball playoffs and the start of NHL make this a wonderful time on the sports calendar for sure. Now, on to the NFL picks.

Last Week: 7-7 (.500) Season: 45-29 (.608)

- Dolphins over Texans: Miami has defeated the two AFC Championship Game participants from last year, which is no small feat even if the Patriots and Chargers may not be as good as last year's versions. Ronnie Brown seems fully recovered from last year's ACL injury and that is bad news for opponents. Houston is coming off quite possibly its worst loss in franchise history, losing s 27-10 lead with 4;40 to play last week against the Colts. Matt Schaub is back at QB for the Texans, but there is simply no immediate recovery from that kind of debacle. Miami keeps the momentum going on the road.

- Jets over Bengals: New York is coming off a bye, which means Brett Favre had a chance to further get comfortable with the offense. The Jets are still very much within striking distance in the AFC East, and they know they need to take care of business at home. Cincinnati has played to its competition thus far this year, which could make this a much closer game than it may appear on paper. The Bengals have talent despite being 0-5 so the Jets need to be careful, but a hunch New York wins at home, even if its not by a wide margin.

- Colts over Ravens: Logic says i should go with Baltimore. Their defense is playing great, and they should be able to run the ball against a Colts defense that hasn't been able to stop the run this year. Then again, I have to think the Colts gained quite a bit of momentum with their wild comeback win in Houston. Peyton Manning is still Peyton Manning, and he has always owned Baltimore even in the heyday of the Ravens defense. Marvin Harrison can't possibly continue to be invisible can he? Even if he is in this game, the Colts still have Reggie Wayne. Indianapolis finally gets its first win at new Lucas Oil Stadium.

- Broncos over Jaguars: This should be a tight low scoring game, much like the Broncos-Bucs game last week. Jacksonville held the ball over 40 minutes in last year's meeting, so expect the Jags to run, run, run again. The Broncos did do much better against the run last week, while the Jags have struggled to run it in every game this year except against the Colts. Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew combined to only rush for 30 yards last week against Pittsburgh, so the Broncos have a chance to continue improvement against the run if they stay disciplined. Denver will be without tight end Tony Scheffler, so the Broncos will need a big game from Brandon Marshall. It says here that's a given after he was shut down last week. Denver has just enough offense to win this one.

- Saints over Raiders: New Orleans gave one away last week against the Vikings. The Saints know they have more talent than their 2-3 record indicates, and they may only need to wait one more week before the return of star receiver Marques Colston from a thumb injury. The Raiders are coming off a bye, and of course their soap opera press conference and firing of Lane Kiffin. As messed up as the Raiders organization is, a coaching change is not going to help them win this one. After this one the Saints do not return to the Superdome until Nov. 24, due to a "home" game in London against San Diego at the end of the month. The Saints know they must get this one, and they will.

- Cardinals over Cowboys: Major upset alert. The Cowboys have struggled the last two weeks, and if they were playing virtually anyone other than the Bengals they wouldn't have won last week. Dallas also has an added distraction this week of more off-field trouble for Pacman Jones which can't help. Arizona meanwhile, has shown they have one of the top passing games in the league, and their defense got a huge boost last week with the return of hard hitting safety Adrian Wilson. The Cardinals have won 8 of their last 10 at home, and it's not all opposing team fans in the stands anymore. Arizona wins in a shootout.

- Eagles over 49ers: Philadelphia is also much more talented then their 2-3 record indicates. The Eagles are coming off two tough losses and now have a road game against a team with potential to surprise. If the Niners do get a consistent outing from J.T. O'Sullivan, an upset is not out of the question. If he is erratic, the Eagles offense should be able to do enough to win. Dononvan McNabb gets receiving threat Kevin Curtis back, which should also open up opportunities for DeSean Jackson. Philadelphia knows it can't afford many more slipups in the rugged NFC East.

- Redskins over Rams: Washington is arguably the league's biggest surprise at 4-1. The Redskins are coming off back-to-back division road wins against Dallas and Philly, and now have a couple of friendly home games coming up. The Redskins do have a guard against a trap here though, with the Rams coming off a bye and a coaching change, plus the reinstatement of Marc Bulger at quarterback. A Rams victory would not come as a complete shock just because of the bye and a chance to regroup, but it is impossible to give them the nod on the road when they haven't shown anything at all this year. Washington gets the home win.

- Bears over Falcons: Atlanta at 3-2 is simply stunning. Maybe I'm just slow to get on the bandwagon here, but I can't see Matt Ryan having the success he's had so far this year against Chicago's defense. The Bears defense makes life hell for any quarterback, let alone a rookie. Then again, Matt Ryan did win at Lambeau last week, which is also rare for a rookie. Still, if Kyle Orton plays as well as he did last week, the Bears should have enough to win this game. Chicago can really take control of the NFC North in the early going if they pull off this road victory.

- Vikings over Lions: Detroit is well in the running for the worst team in the league. They are frantically trying to trade guys who don't want to be there before the deadline. (Roy Williams anyone?) They are a complete mess on defense because they haven't used any high draft picks on that side of the ball in years. Minnesota is coming off a big road win that may have saved its season. I really hope you're not going against Adrian Peterson in your fantasy league this week, because he's about to have a monster day. The only question here is how much the Vikings win this game by.

- Packers over Seahawks: This will be a very ugly game. Seattle is so banged up on offense that Matt Hasselbeck will still start at quarterback despite not practicing all week due to a shoulder injury. Half of the receivers are still out as well, and Seattle is coming off a 44-6 blowout loss to the Giants. Green Bay has lost three in a row, and is also riddled with injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball. This is very clearly not Seattle's year, and the Packers know they can stay in the NFC North race with a road win. Green Bay wins the dud game of the week.

- Panthers over Buccaneers: I expect a great game in this one. Carolina is red hot, and will try to win on the road against a good Bucs defense that is always very tough at home. I go with Carolina on a hunch because Jake Delhomme has always had good success in his career against Tampa Bay, and the dual receiving threat of Steve Smith and Mushin Muhammad is causing all kinds of trouble for defenses. Tampa Bay goes back to Jeff Garcia at quarterback, but I don't think the Bucs have enough offense to keep up. Carolina wins.

- Chargers over Patriots: San Diego will be highly motivated in the Sunday nighter for several reasons. The Chargers have lost three in a row to New England, including two playoff games. San Diego also is a desperate team at 2-3, and knows they can't afford a loss at home being that they're already facing a two game deficit in the AFC West. The Chargers will also be out for blood after the allowed a winnable game to slip away in Miami. The Patriots may be 3-1 yes, but they haven't really proven they are completely their old selves after the Tom Brady injury. The raucous home crowd under the lights is the sway factor as the Chargers notch the W.

- Giants over Browns: This has mismatch written all over it. The Giants are without question the best team in football through the first month, and they will be heavily favored in this one. It's a weekly theme, but the Giants continue to prove wrong all the so-called "experts" who picked them to miss the playoffs. How on Earth could anyone have predicted them to miss the playoffs after taking a look at their soft early schedule? Even without Plaxico Burress last week, they didn't skip a beat at all as they destroyed Seattle. Cleveland for whatever reason has yet to bench Derek Anderson in favor of Brady Quinn, even though the Browns only have a win this year because the Bengals gave it to them. I hate to say I told you so, but the Browns are not a contender in any way, and continue to prove they were a big time fluke last year. Think the Monday Night Football crew regrets selecting so many Browns games yet?

Went 5-9 last week, bringing my grand total to 35-38-1. Okay, I am behind Zack a good amount, so I'm making this week's picks my HERO picks. Ready?

SAINTS (-8.5) over Raiders

This Raider team is definitely improving significantly. But Al Davis is going to be punished via Karma for screwing over Kiffin. A guy I would love to see on the other side of the bay.

Ravens (+7) over COLTS

I'm not really sure why the Colts are getting a tough spread like this. The birds will play 'em hard. The Colts offensive line is just bad this season. Peyton and their defense

week.

Bengals (+7) over JETS

I'm going to start calling the Bengals the Spread Beaters! Unfortunately for them, in the NFL that doesn't really matter.

VIKINGS (-13.5) over Lions

The Lions are awful... even against the spread. They haven't beat it. I'd take the Vikings -40 at home.

Bears (-1.5) over FALCONS

Me and Zack agree on this one. The Bears are for real. They are a scary team with an offense that is coming alive.

TEXANS (-3) over Dolphins

This Texans team is hungry. After being essentially shafted out a huge win against Indy, these Texans will come out controlling the game a bit better. I expect their defense to hold the Fins. There's enough film out there of the Wildcat offense that they should be able to stop it. Texans get their first win this week.

BUCS (-3) over Panthers

I can't tell if this Panther team is really that good or not. But I KNOW the Bucs defense is amazing, and their offense is adequate ... at times. I'm still taking the Bucs.

Rams (+14) over REDSKINS

(Hero pick, watch out)

BRONCOS (-3.5) over Jaguars

I think I'm going to be wrong on this one. I keep forgetting how bad the Bronco run D is. It's ok, I'm sticking with it.

NINERS (+5.5) over Eagles

No Westbrook? No problem. Niners via the hero pick.

Cowboys (-6.5) over ARIZONA

Who's ready for a shootout? This game has the potential to have over 80 points scored since both defenses seem to slack off. Either way, I think the Cowboys are embarrassed at not covering that 17 point spread last week.

Packers (+3) over SEAHAWKS

What the hell's wrong with this line?

CHARGERS (-6.5) over PATRIOTS

How bad are the Chargers really? And how good are the Patriots really? We'll find out. Gooooo Bolts!

Giants (-6.5) over BROWNS

How does Vegas only give them 6.5? Nobody believes the Giants, ever.

Close, but no cigar.

I apologize; it’s just that whenever I come within ten feet of something that The King wrote, I start spouting off clichés in order to explain myself.

Translation: While I came close to dethroning His Majesty last week (or at least tying him for the week), I inexplicably picked the Lions to beat the Bears—the same Lions that had been behind by 21 points or more in each of their previous games. Not a very smart pick on my part…

Moving along…here’s to a different week finally bringing with it a different result. I’m really starting to get sick of losing to the Monarch formerly known as Doofus…

Last Week:

Peter King (9-5)
Benji (8-6)
Brian (8-6)

Overall:

Peter King (51-23)
Benji (41-33)
Brian (44-30)

Chicago Bears (3-2) at Atlanta Falcons (3-2)

The King says:

Surprising Stat of the Week: Bears are averaging 27 points a game over the last three weeks. Kyle Orton plays better here than Matt Ryan. Bears put salve on Cubs-related Chitown wounds.

Prediction: Chicago Bears 24, Atlanta Falcons 13

Benji says:

His Majesty’s “Surprising Stat of the Week” is somewhat misleading, given that the Bears played the Lions last week. Still, their offense has been much more productive than I ever anticipated it being. I am still worried about Orton’s decision making when faced with an onslaught of defensive pressure (see the Tampa Bay game when he essentially gave away 21 points). The Falcons are not going to cause him or the Bears much trouble though. They capitalized last week on a depleted Green Bay secondary, but Chicago’s defense should have no trouble shutting their offense down. Mixing Michael Turner runs with play action deep throws to Roddy White will only take them so far. They need to find a way to get other receivers involved and sustain drives through short and intermediate passes. Their offensive shortcomings will become very apparent against the tough Bears’ defense.

Prediction: Chicago Bears 24, Atlanta Falcons 12

Baltimore Ravens (2-2) at Indianapolis Colts (2-2)

The King says:

People who have seen Peyton Manning's knee (the one with the removed bursa sac) without the brace say it's still very much a recovery in progress. You'll see teams playing eight in the box to stop Joseph Addai and pressure Manning until he hits some throws over the top on first and second downs.

Prediction: Baltimore Ravens 20, Indianapolis Colts 17

Benji says:

The King is correct to point out that Peyton Manning is still not back to full-strength and the Colts’ offense has resultantly not found its rhythm up to this point. But I believe that he has gotten better every week and with his offensive line back up and running, I think this team has nowhere to go but up from this point forward. What His Majesty does not say (but implies in his prediction) is that the Ravens’ defense is very good and will be able to keep the score down in this game. I agree with that assessment, but do not trust Joe Flacco, especially in a hostile environment. In my mind, any quarterback who tries to make sideline-to-sideline throws has questionable decision making skills.

Prediction: Indianapolis Colts 22, Baltimore Ravens 15

Detroit Lions (0-4) at Minnesota Vikings (2-3)

The King says:

Big test for interim GM Martin Mayhew with the Lions falling to 0-5. Trading deadline comes two days after this game. If he holds a fire sale for Roy Wiliams and Jon Kitna, and brings back, say, third- and sixth-round picks for them, ownership looks at Mayhew and says, "Is this really the guy for the job? All he can get for our quarterback and Pro Bowl wideout is a three and a six?'' So Mayhew will be under the gun to bring back primo picks, and if he doesn't, my guess is both guys will be on this luckless team until Detroit freezes over
