You are my sister, we were born
So innocent, so full of need
There were times we were friends but times I was so cruel
Each night I'd ask for you to watch me as I sleep
I was so afraid of the night
You seemed to move through the places that I feared
You lived inside my world so softly
Protected only by the kindness of your nature
You are my sister
And I love you
May all of your dreams come true
You are my sister
And I love you
May all of your all of your dreams come true
We felt so differently then
So similar over the years
The way we laugh the way we experience pain
So many memories
But there's nothing left to gain from remembering
Faces and worlds that no one else will ever know
You are my sister
And I love you
May all of your dreams come true
You are my sister
And I love you
You are my sister
And I love you
May all of your all of your dreams come true
I want this for you
They're gonna come true (gonna come true)

Notte

American band which was formed in 1989 in Costa Mesa, California. They're best known for their song "Chewbacca" which was on the soundtrack to 1994 film Clerks.

Fun Facts:

- In 1996, they produced a TV show "Last In Space: A Show For Kids?", which chronicled their adventures in a space van and included many of musical numbers. The show wasn't picked up, but copies were distributed on VHS and still being sold at their shows (Wikipedia)

- They filed a lawsuit against CBS for the use of band's name in television show "Rock Star". On September 12, 2006 the judge ruled in favor of the original Supernova, granting their request for a preliminary injunction. The injunction kept the producers and musicians of Rock Star from performing, recording, or selling merchandise under the name "Supernova" pending the outcome of the lawsuit. As a result, the CBS band was simply renamed "Rock Star Supernova". The lawsuit was dropped soon thereafter. (Wikipedia)

Supermodel Kate Moss may soon be tying the knot to her boyfriend of a year, Jamie Hince, in Ireland. Originally, Moss was rumored to be marrying her rock star boyfriend in September. According to Osoblog though, now they are supposedly delaying their plans due to relationship troubles earlier this summer.

However, this relationship trouble was not enough to keep Moss from discussing the wedding with her hairdresser. “She said ‘keep December free.’ Then she said she had already thought of a venue,” her hairdresser reveals, before admitting that Moss might be contemplating having the wedding on James Brown’s farm because Brown said “she could have it there.” The hairdresser adds, “She likes it because the farm is in the middle of nowhere. It’s off the beaten track, so there’s no chance of anyone uninvited turning up.” Could the catwalk queen possibly be strutting her stuff down the aisle soon?

Aišku, susidomi, atidarai tą naujieną ir randi tą repliką. Damn, pagalvoji, didesnės nesąmonės turbūt ir negalėjo sugalvoti. „That bloke from Oasis said I couldn't play guitar/Somebody should have told him I'm a fuckin' rock star“. Jei Jay Z yra rock star, tai T.I. yra reperis. Kažkoks šūdo malimas. Atvyko jankis į Glastonbury festivalį, parepavo ir roko žvaigžde tapo. Tikiuosi, kad kitais, ar dar kitais metais, Glastonbury festivalyje nieko panašaus nematysiu. Jei, aišku, pavyks ten nuvykti.

Netolimoje ateityje galime laukti Noel'o atsako. O dabar šiek tiek vaizdų.

When I was growing up I don’t really ever remember wanting to pursue one of those ever popular

When I was growing up I don't really ever remember wanting to pursue one of those ever popular childhood dreams of becoming a pediatrician or a marine biologist. Since my hero, Vanna White, was already doing a stellar job on turning letters, I decided I wanted to be a rock star. When you're 5, your best bet for a venue is church, which is were it all began. You're bound to get good reviews when you're in Kindergarten and you dress up like a little lamb and are given all the funny lines in We Like Sheep, or better yet, when you perform a song that requires you to sing the 50 states in ABC order...fast...and then even faster! And yes, people will still remind you of this amazing feat 20 years later, or your parents will try to pull out the video of it when you bring your boyfriend home. I guess somewhere around 12 or 13, my dream began to crumble when I decided I no longer wanted to take piano lessons. What can you do?

After years of pursuing other things...sports, college, boys, boys who play guitar...I somehow landed into one of the most talented and fun bands ever. After meeting and singing with most of the Ragged Glory crew at church, they invited me to sing some back-up and harmony vocals. Since then, I've done several parties with them, a book-release party and on Sunday we're playing at one of the best NOVA venues, IOTA. I'm super excited to sing some back-up vocals with Susan while the guys rock out...guitars, pedal steel, banjo, harmonica...it's going to be so awesome!

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am pretty much the antithesis of your ideal rock star. Brian jokingly tells me all the time that I'm not edgy enough. Every once in a while though, I get to chanel that inner rock star for a night - and that holds me over for a while.

I guess it's best that I abandoned the letter turning career path. Poor Vanna doesn't even get to turn the letters anymore. She just touches a screen now. I fear that technology will make her obsolete very soon. Plus, the world could always use another rock star.

Day 3 and counting . . .

Rations are running low but morale remains high. Wait, that's my journal from the time I was stuck on that desert island. Never mind.

Morale is definitely high though. Everyone I've talked with has loved Mark LeBlanc's theme, "NSA Rocks" and Eric Chester's execution of that theme. Including today's opening session keynoter, the closest thing in the business world to a rock star, Steve Forbes.

The highlight of the day, though, had to be two genuine rock stars, Simon Kirke of Bad Company and Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon. As Kevin walked onstage, he treated us to a live rendition of "Take It on the Run" with flashbulbs going off all over the ballroom. (There would've been lighters held up as well, if anybody still smoked.) Then the two of them, accompanied by producer David Fishof and the multi-talented Robin Creasman, engaged in a wonderfully frank, gloriously uncensored discussion of what it takes to be a rock star, whether in music or in speaking. Simon had the best line of the afternoon, commenting on what it felt like to talk in front of a group of speakers: "I feel like a hemophiliac in razor blade factory."

There were more swear words and "inappropriate references" than I've seen in the last ten conventions combined, and speaking as a Generation X'er, I LOVED IT. It was real, it was unscripted, it was heartfelt. I firmly believe that if we really want to make a impact, we have to run to risk of possibly offending someone. I'm not saying that as speakers, we should deliberately try to offend our audiences. (Dale.) But if we truly want to be great, if we indeed aspire to be rock stars, we have to embrace the risk.

What do you think? Should speakers play it safe? Or should we push the envelope? Let the debate begin.

From the Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama may be the fresh face in this year's presidential election, but nearly half say they're already tired of hearing about him, a poll says.

With Election Day still three months away, 48 percent said they're hearing too much about the Democratic candidate, according to a poll released Wednesday by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. Just 26 percent said the same about his Republican rival, John McCain.

Obama, the 47-year-old Illinois senator who would become the first black president, has dominated political news coverage much of the year. According to an ongoing Pew study, Obama has appeared in more news stories this year and more people say they have heard more about him than McCain, the longtime Arizona senator who also ran for president in 2000.

Two-thirds of Republicans and about half of independents said they've heard too much about Obama, as did a third of Democrats, a significant number.

At the same time, nearly four in 10 said they've been hearing too little about McCain — about four times the number who said so about Obama. About half of Republicans, four in 10 independents and even a quarter of Democrats said they've not heard enough about the GOP candidate.

The poll was conducted from Aug. 1-4 and involved telephone interviews with 1,004 adults. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

So, my frustration level is toppling over because of this recent article I read. I'm an avid fan of Grand Theft Auto IV...in fact, yes, I got my "jollies off" by getting into a "Hummer" in the game, driving around and smashing the crap out of other cars. I shoot random strangers in the game. Heck, for fun, I wait for cars to pass by and beat their windows out with baseball bats just to get into fights with the drivers........in the game. See, that's the key, folks...it's a game. It's not real. The graphics and AI in this game are amazing...but they're not so fantastical that I think that they're real. Things I do in the video games do not carry over into reality for me. And I don't think we should be able to blame video games any more than we can blame guns, cars, blunt objects, etc. It isn't the weapon that creates the potential for destruction, but rather, the mindset of the bearer of the weapon.

Here's the article I read (click it to open it in a new window from the original site):

I live in a country where I am gifted with the right to bear arms (in a responsible manner). But, c'mon people...you don't need a gun, a knife, or any conventional weapon to cause harm to others. We know that's true because people still die in prison. All you need is a toothbrush and the time to carve it into a "shank." Anyways, I'm getting off subject here...

I think that the fine young gentlemen at Penny Arcade said it best in the following two comics:

I look at it this way...the only people responsible for the crazy shit that happens out there are the idiots who reared these children to not know the line between reality and fiction OR the kids themselves (in the circumstance that they are just completely unbalanced psychotics who would've snapped one way or another given any stimuli). I just can't see how these things carry over into real life. I've seen horrific scary movies and they never cause me to repeat the things I see. Why should video games be any different?

All in all, it is upsetting to me that one stupid kid has to go completely unhinged (mentally) or has to have a crappy upbringing (with an equal part of no common sense) and ruin things for the rest of us...you know, us normal people who don't do stupid shit because we realize the difference between a video game and real life.

And, Thailand...c'mon. You guys are totally over reacting. Why not, instead of banning game sales, try to make sure that parents are instilling good values in their kids and spending time with them? Oh...that takes too much effort? I see.

And that's my point...censorship isn't the answer. Parents should be controlling what is coming into their homes. Parents are responsible for the way kids turn out these days. Because if the government can begin censoring video games...well, where is the line? Books? Movies? Television? Then they begin to tell you what you can or can't do...what you can or can't eat...who you can or can't marry...it's about control.

My biggest message is to parents of kids who play video games: Teach your children the line between fiction and reality. Teach them self-control. Limit the amount of time they spend in front of the television or a video game. Don't buy them violent games if you are afraid of the consequences. Just don't impose your lack of control over your children on the rest of the world.

Famous film actor George Clooney, U2’s Bono and the gorgeous Cindy Crawford have been vacationing

Famous film actor George Clooney, U2’s Bono and the gorgeous Cindy Crawford have been vacationing on the French Riviera. Cindy can bee seen below looking stunning swimming of the aft deck of a luxury motor yacht. Mr. Clooney can be seen ‘chilling out’ reading a newspaper with sophistication on the yacht’s deck. The A-list crew have been spending their days swimming, jet skiing and generally being fabulous aboard the luxury yacht.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber, Jerry Weintraub and George Clooney sun themselves on the superyacht in St Tropez. Cindy Crawford, 42 years old, showed off her super-model style as she soaked up the sun in a bikini at St Tropez with actor friend George Clooney.

Cindy and her husband Rande Gerber are entertaining George, who recently split up with former cocktail waitress Sarah Larson, aboard their charter yacht off the south of France. Cindy Crawford shows off her sensational figure in a tiny bikini as she cools off in the sea. Cindy showed that she is still looking sensational at the grand old age of 42 as she took a dip in the Med near the famous shores of millionaire's playground of St Tropez.

Later this month, George will be reunited with another one of his famous buddies, Brad Pitt, who will take a break from cuddling his baby twins to promote the Coen Brothers film Burn After Reading, at the Venice Film Festival.

Following on from their St Tropez jaunt, the group of friends made a stopover by yacht to the little French village of Eze and visited U2 singer Bono's wonderful seaside house.

The rock star Irish lead singer for super group U2 has a place which is a popular haunt for celebrities in the area and as such Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie (Brangelina) and Robert De Niro recently took their families on vacation there.

Want to know where to go to find a luxury yacht for yourself, so you can join the A list? Well, it seems you can either charter them, or buy them, but they are not cheap!

Take a look at McCain’s new ad, entitled “Celeb,” poking fun at Obama’s

Take a look at McCain's new ad, entitled "Celeb," poking fun at Obama's "rock star" status:

I thought it was pretty clever and spot on. Thus, I should have expected this. Whenever Obama's opponents hit a nerve, the race card will undoubtedly be played, this time by Josh Marshall.

Jake Tapper, at ABC, gives us the story:

"I note with interest today, John McCain's new tactic of associating Barack Obama with oversexed and/or promiscuous young white women," writes liberal blogger Josh Marshall. "Presumably, a la Harold Ford 2006, this will be one of those strategies that will be a matter of deep dispute during the campaign and later treated as transparent and obvious once the campaign is concluded."

Continues Marshall: "the McCain campaign is now pushing the caricature of Obama as a uppity young black man whose presumptuousness is displayed not only in taking on airs above his station but also in a taste for young white women."

Others pushing this meme note that the notorious Harold Ford ad -- which featured an attractive young white woman looking at the camera and asking Ford to call her -- was put together by a group once headed by Terry Nelson, who was McCain's campaign manager for a time, though he left in the Summer 2007 purge.

The McCain campaign says that Nelson had nothing to do with this Britney/Paris ad, that it was put together by their normal team of Mike Hudome, Fred Davis, and Chris Mottolla.

And they say this interpretation is "ridiculous."

What say you?

I say this ad is in no way shape or form racist, nor does it imply that Obama has "a taste for young white women." And if he did, what would be the damn problem? This was exactly my reaction to the supposedly racist Harold Ford video. As an African American woman who "has a taste for young white men," what I found truly offensive was that people implied that somehow insinuating that interracial relationships are occurring is racist. Umm, no. The people who get upset about interracial dating are the racists!

The late Tim Russert apparently believed the ad was racist, while addressing the Harold Ford ad, he had this to say (click here to see the entire exchange):

The whole idea of having a blond white woman winking at a black congressman, the notion of interracial sex is not in your mind racist?

I can hear them arguing now that the ground breaking Star Trek episode with the first interracial kiss between Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura was meant to gin up racial hatred. When what was actually racist was that some stations in the South initially refused to air it. The "notion of interracial sex" should not be racist in anyone's mind. In fact, if it's an issue for you, then you're a racist.

Can Obama's campaign and his supporters please start answering attacks instead of creating distraction arguments about whether it's racist to have white women and black men in campaign ads together? It would be greatly appreciated.

I do. I love Kid Rock, and his music. I know the majority will probably disagree with me on that. I love that song All Summer Long. I think it is my favorite of the moment. I actually saw him in concert when I lived in San Antonio. It was the famous night where the lead singer of Monster Magnet tried to pick me up by appearing in the crowd after they were done opening for Kid Rock. He told me I had pretty eyes after he practically sang his entire damn show while looking right at me. Then he asked what I was doing after the show. I am sure I could have gotten a ride on the tour bus if ya know what I mean. However, I was with a friend and her husband, and she was about seven months pregnant. Plus, he wasn't really my cup o'tea. Very nice though. It felt nice to know a rock star had a short crush on me.

But yeah back to Kid Rock. He puts on a fabulous show. It was probably one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Also, he is a big supporter of the troops, and for that reason alone I think he is grand.

I read something about Amy Winehouse almost everyday. Yesterday, she was hospitalized for a seizure

I read something about Amy Winehouse almost everyday. Yesterday, she was hospitalized for a seizure of some sort and today she was released, with her publicist saying that she'd just had an "adverse reaction" to some medication.

It makes me sick to see what a mess she is and how because of her enormous talent (at singing, at creating headlines and especially at money-making), no one seems to be taking care of her. I'm sure her label wants her "to get help," just like her press-friendly parents do. But when you're as successful as Amy is, the hardest thing anyone seems to be able to say is "No, no, no."

I spent some time with one well-known rock star, famous for his trippy musical vision—and his addiction to hard drugs. The night we met, he directed his limo driver to one of the few seedy places left in New York in order to meet his drug dealer. His A&R guy sat next to him, weakly protesting, "I really wish you wouldn't. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow." His bandmates just looked away. Naive as I was, I asked, "What are you looking for?" He answered, "Rock." I asked him not to and so he didn't. Not that night anyway.

It's the same in every business where there's a lot of money and fame to go around, whether it's fashion or movies or music. But because it's "sex, drugs and rock and roll," it seems musicians are almost encouraged (or at least enabled) to be as naughty as they can be.

Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison are all revered as some of the greatest talents in music (or rockstardom), with their drug use as legendary as their musical abilities—and their premature deaths, all at 27 years old. Maybe if they'd lived, healthily touring into their 50s and 60s, their legacies wouldn't be as iconic and glamorous.

I remember reading an interview with Courtney Love (at the height of her Cobain-widow status) where she said she'd read something about how Madonna didn't have "a single self-destructive bone in her body." Meanwhile, Courtney was implying that that was all she had.

Courtney Love

As an audience, it certainly can be more interesting to see the extreme trials and tribulations of our music heroes rather than knowing that they eat right, exercise and are nice to small animals—as opposed to biting off their heads onstage...

But to see someone like Amy, who was once gorgeous and so full of promise, spiral ever further and faster down to what can only be one inevitable end is possibly one of the most disgusting things the entertainment industry has ever wrought. Everyone knows she needs help. Can't someone just give it to her?

When you talk about dreams, you’re not only talking about those images you get in your mind wh

When you talk about dreams, you're not only talking about those images you get in your mind when you sleep. But also it's about the things that you'd like to have in your life and how you would handle these situations. I call this day dreaming.

Most of the time, when I day dream, its usually about trying to imagine myself living in someone else's shoes or living in a possible alternate universe. A life which is parallel to this reality, but where the differences are the choices that I make. So its a lot like a what if dream.

One of my favorite day dream is where in an alternate parallel universe, I'm a rock star. Yup, one of my dreams back when I was growing up and even now is to be a rock star. I always tried to imagine myself being a super star in a heavy metal band. Not the lead singer, the lead guitarist. I imagine myself coming up with this beautiful but complicated string of chords which not many people could follow, making it a unique piece of guitar work.

Part of this dream involves me leaving the band due to some accident that happened to someone I cared about. In this alternate universe, I'm not married but I have a girlfriend, I'm a drug user and drinker. My girlfriend dies of a drug abuse and because I of that I vowed to stay clean and sober. The only way I can do that is by leaving the band.

So, I leave the band (which is based in the States) and return to Malaysia. Not many in this country recognize me so I manage a pretty average existence (apart from the Aston Martin that I buy immediately when I get home and the huge penthouse right smack in the middle of KL). No body knows who I am and what I do. My friends just know that I'm rich (I'm also a writer who came up with a few hit songs and earn a lot of money from the royalties).

This is just one of the alternate universes that I hope is a reality out there somewhere. This alternate universe (some people might call it a delusion) is currently my favorite. Out there somewhere, I wish this alternate universe is a reality. At least in this alternate universe, I'm a huge success (most of my alternate realities I end up being successful)
