New Delhi: The third list brought out by almost all colleges late on Friday evening has led to spec

New Delhi: The third list brought out by almost all colleges late on Friday evening has led to speculation that private universities may have become an attractive option for students. The obvious reasons stated by university sources for the lack of adequate response are high cut-offs on one hand and withdrawals on the other. And, so far, no one would have believed that some students could head for private universities even before the admission process in Delhi University was closed.
‘‘Students these days can choose from a lot of courses being offered by private universities. If they don’t get the course or college of their preference in DU, they end up taking admission in one of the new-age courses in the universities in NCR,’’ said Suman Kumar Verma, joint dean, student welfare. He stressed that many students these days choose to spend more on a new course in a private university than take up any course they get through in DU.
Most colleges kept high cutoffs in the first list, which is a major reason for students not coming for admissions. Colleges like Hans Raj and Hindu received 130 applications for BCom (Hons) each from students scoring above 95%. What is surprising is that both the colleges have come out with a third cut-off list despite the fact that Hans Raj had 135 and Hindu had 40 seats for this course. ‘‘These seats did not fill up even in the second list. This is probably because students are also looking at other options. With more universities opening up in Noida, Ghaziabad and neighbouring areas, students may also find it easy to access them,’’ said Verma.
Meera Ramachandran, principal of Gargi College, where about 170 seats across many courses are still to be filled up, too feels private universities seem to be scoring over DU because of the better prospects of the courses being offered by them. ‘‘Today, DU colleges have much more competition from private universities. Students are looking for courses that can translate into a job as soon as they are completed. These private universities package their courses in such a way that students get attracted to them and perhaps this is why our seats have not yet got filled up,’’ she said.
For a few colleges, the third cut-off list is, however, only part of a strategy to avoid getting flooded by students at one go and does not indicate any competition. Lady Shri Ram College, for instance, had closed admissions after the first list last year but this year it has a third list for almost all courses except Psychology (Hons). ‘‘We did not want to over-admit students like last year. So the plan was to fill seats gradually. But as far as private universities are concerned, I don’t think they can match the brand value of DU. There is no competition as of now,’’ said Kanika Khandelwal, media coordinator, LSR.

Spesielt sterke syns jeg When Diddy's Gone (Donkey Kong Country - Aquatic Ambiance, Eminem - When I'm Gone) og Runaway Dixie (Donkey Kong Country 2 - Forest Interlude, Ludacris feat.

I have not lived as long as I intend to live, but I do know and understand one thing for certain: shit happens. Shit happens at a nearly constant rate. By "shit," I mean not some sort of general term with the usage to describe every aspect of every day of life. The shit that happens is the negative, or more accurately, the bothersome obstacles that rise before us. (Some people do feel that shit happens to them in every aspect of every day of life.) As a practicing optimist, and a young one at that, I don't believe in shit happening every day. Over the past few weeks, a lot of shit has been happening, but not every day. And it isn't any negative shit. Again, it's more bothersome than anything. I'm a teenager, thus, I have a busy life every once in a while. This sudden busy-ness (not business) has caused me to not get around to writing that "Mothers and Lovers: The Journey Westward" review. For now, just keep it in your head that it'll happen someday.

Musically, I've been practicing guitar chords when I have a chance, and that isn't often. I'm close to completing a new single from my solo project. It probably will not be released on IHAA, but it's still important to me and I have many interested friends. My guitar practice could be incorporated into the single, but who knows? I've had the guitar-work of "The Tugboat in Me" for inspiration. I don't know what will become of that since Tugboat is Heart Heart Julia anymore. Julia is a supposedly cool chick though. Is Heart Heart Julia in some correlation with [Heart Heart] Julia LaDense? I ought to ask her sometime. This is reminding me that I want to work on a sophomore album for Religion is the Falling Sky.

What are you reading?

I can't print out of my simultaneously purchased HPC6280 if I want to print from the "other" tray, the one that has the photo paper, and Apple sent me to HP and HP sent me back to Apple. I got nuthin'. I'm also having a hard time printing in grayscale, but I assume that could be The Man selling color cartridges, and I figure as a result I'll have to dig deep to figure that one out.

Other than those little issues, however, it seems to be a fabulous machine. More intuitive, more sensible in many ways, and a lot prettier and faster.

and over the scaffolds rising in those fields,
two hands used to receive me
into a soothing embrace.
The sky, spreading wide its bulk
used to sprinkle moonlight pollen in bits and pieces
on to the long clusters of clouds.
Wherever the eyes roamed,
there a dream breathed full of life.

Someone preserved for me here,
an inexhaustible chest of words.
Someone else blew a thousand bamboo flutes
saturating the air, and left.

Same lake - now it reflects
a broken heart, in shattered pieces, why?

In its palms, I flew to far off places then.

In the evening, we'd arrive on breezy wings
walking in from a day-dream,
we'd land with the swagger of a dragonfly.
In the swirling bosom of the lake, we'd swim.
On its shores' green spread,
we'd drape our bodies to dry.
The clothes of outer world covering our bodies,
we'd toss onto thorn bushes.

On a pitch dark evening,
as a single darkness covered up heaven and earth,
a harvest of lamps flourished here.*
Little flowered boats, emerging from maidens' laps,
danced with shimmering heads.
The light of adolescence in our bodies
played hide and seek with the lake's reflections.
Then, that night here
blossomed like a lightning vine,
from the youthful curves' beauty of teenage.
How many infants' fresh imagination breathed on it!
How many youthful tender caresses teased its shores!
Then, it used to be moist here.
But, now it is arid
like a nightmare from the bosom of shattered earth
crying out in anguish ..
