Back in 1994, Wet Wet Wet gave the world the greatest pop song "Love Is All Around" with the soundtrack to the movie "Four Weddings and A Funeral" (Which incidentally gave us Hugh Grant too!). It spent the entire year on the Top 40 charts which is a huge accomplishment from this Scottish band. More than 14 years have come and gone, yet we still remember the band fondly, especially the charismatic lead singer Marti Pellow. We never had the chance to attend any of their live acts but based on the Youtube clip of our favourite song "Angel Eyes" below, Wet Wet Wet's concert must be amazing. Die Anfangsgründe der Troggs liegen in der Stadt Andover (Hampshire/England). Als in den frühen 60er Jahren von der ersten Konstellation der Troggs einige Bandmitglieder bis auf Sänger Dave Wright und Bassist Reginald Ball abgesprungen waren, schlossen sich Ball und Wright auf den Rat ihres Managers hin mit zwei Mitgliedern einer anderen lokalen Band namens "Ten Foot Five" zusammen,  die auch unter Personalmangel litt: mit dem Bassisten Pete Staples und dem Gitarristen Chris Britton. Ball wurde überraschend Sänger der neuen Gruppe, und Wright suchte sich einen Wirkungskreis in einer neuen Band. Auf Anraten des Journalisten Keith Altham vom New Musical Express ändert Reginald Ball seinen Namen zu Reg Presley in der Hoffnung, auch die Aufmerksamkeit von Elvis-Fans auf sich ziehen zu können. Die neuen Troggs fanden einen Drummer: Ronnie Bullis, der sich Ronnie Bond nannte.
Nachdem die Band einen Vertrag mit dem Produzenten und Manager Larry Page geschlossen hatte, erschien ihre erste Single "Lost Girl" (Febr. 1966), die ein Flop war. Sie wechselten auf Page's neues Plattenlaben Page One und hatten prompt Erfolg mit einem Cover: "Wild Thing" (April 1966) schaffte es im Mai 1966 auf Rang 2 der britischen Pop-Charts. Die dritte Single "With A Girl Like You" (Juli 1966) wurde ein No.-1-Erfolg (es sollte der einzige der Troggs bleiben).
Als neunte Single der Troggs erschien im Oktober 1967 "Love Is All Around" (b/w "When Will The Rain Come"), geschrieben von Reg Presley, und brachte es bis Platz 5 der britischen Charts. Mit "Garage rock" hat dieser Song nichts zu tun. Diese schöne, melodiöse Ballade wurde wie die Beatles-Songs "Yesterday" und "Eleanor Rigby" oder manche Jagger-Richards-Songs, die von anderen Künstlern gecovert wurden (z.B. von Marianne Faithful, Twice As Much und Chris Farlowe), von einem Streichquartett begleitet und ist mit einem perkussiven " tick-tock-sound" unterlegt.
"Love Is All Around" wurde mehrfach gecovert, z.B. von Eric Burdon & War, R.E.M. und – am erfolgreichsten – von Wet Wet Wet, die damit 1994 15 Wochen lang die britischen Charts toppten.

.. pensavo che avere il w-end libero fosse uguale ad andare sempre da qualche parte

.. a quasi 20 anni da quando ho cominciato a lavorare in radio sono felicemente portata a pensare che non vivo di sola musica , anche se è un alta percentuale di input nella mia giornata ,ma vivo di comunicazione , sentimenti , amicizie , persone , luoghi che grazie alla radio posso "visitare" ed "incontrare"

.. per il resto all'anagrafe ne ho quasi 9 di più .. e sono felice di quanto ho conquistato in questi anni , pur senza campagna e sopratutto senza signora che mi aiuta a pulire !

a 15 non sapevo che a 33 mi sarei seduta per terra a giocare con Rocco e pensare che sono ancora troppo giovane per un sacco di cose !

non sapevo che sarei cresciuta creandomi una famiglia di Amici , più o meno vicini, con cui dividere una cena informale sul divano

in elementary school, i was all like, "yea, wet wet wet is my favorite band." (they did a cover of love is all around) boy, did that get me made fun of. but it was okay, because i thought i was so cool for knowing something they didn't...kinda like long division.

this is also the commercial that made me love kate beckinsale, slash, long for a nook to fit into.

i'm still trying to find that coke commercial from the 2000 (or was it 2004?) olympics where the french ice skater girl meets the american boy.

Wet Wet Wet, 10 (1997)

Vinerea trecută în clubul BLUE MONDAY ( din Pasajul Vulturul Negru ) s-a desfăşurat prima ediţie a concursului Cupa presei la KARAOKE. Ca de obicei, 24-FUN, ghidul tău de distracţie, a fost acolo şi a surprins momentele frumoase ale întregului eveniment.

Dar să vedem ce s-a întâmplat …

Jurnaliştii au demonstrat că au talent artistic

Concursul a debutat după ora 22:00 şi a fost prezentat de Adrian Hădean, care de îndată ce a ajuns în sală a aflat că va fi gazda evenimentului. Fără emoţii şi foarte spontan, Adi a reuşit să întreţină şi descreţească atmosfera. S-a descurcat excelent!

Pe scenă, au început să urce rând pe rând cântăreţii: Viorica Borz, din partea Jurnalului Bihorean (JB) ce a interpretat melodia „Love is all around” - Wet Wet Wet, urmată apoi de alţi 3 colegi ai ei din redacţia JB: Sebastian Kovacs, cu „Spaceman” - Babylon Zoo, Ovidiu Morcan cu “You can leave your heat on” - Joe Coker şi Armin Nistor cu 2 piese: „I will survive” - Gloria Gaynor şi “Angels” - Robbie Williams.

După ce presa scrisă şi-a spus cuvântul, au urmat reprezentanţii audio-vizualului. Prima curajoasă a fost Raluca Ghiţă, prezentatoarea Antenei 1, ce a impresionat cu interpretarea piesei „I will always love you” - Whitney Houston. De ştiut e că înainte de a deveni moderator, Raluca a fost membra unei trupe din Baia Mare (oraşul ei natal).

Concursul a continuat cu interpretările de succes ale Danielei Cap - Televiziunea Transilvania şi Alex Ardelean - Radio Transilvania.

Un juriu pe măsură şi premii speciale

În urma prestaţiilor deosebite, concurenţii au fost răsplătiţi. Şi cum un concurs adevărat nu poate fi ţinut fără un juriu pe măsură, din compenenţa acestuia au făcut parte: Carmen Cherteş, de la Primăria Oradea, Alina Brihan, de la cabinetului deputatului Eduard Hellvig, dr. Florian Bodog, deputatul Claudiu Pop (din partea PSD) şi Nelu Mladin, de la Şcoala auto „Euro Succes” (fiind şi unul dintre sponsori ).

Fiecare participant a fost “răsplătit” cu câte o diplomă: Viorica Borz, premiul „Feri Play” şi premiul „Tare în pix”, Armin Nistor „Costel Drege Busuiocu”, Sebastian Kovacs „Pedofil Collins” (pentru cea mai copilăroasă melodie) şi „De dus cu zăhărelul...” (pentru care a primit şi un borcan plin cu zahăr), iar Ovidiu Morcan premiul „Continuă...”.

Au fost acordate şi premii speciale, care li s-au cuvenit următorilor: Raluca Ghiţă - „Luminiţa Anghel, de la capătul tunelului”, Daniela Cap - „Balaura Urziceanu” şi Alex Ardelean - „Boy George Michael Jackson, pentru o personalitate multiplă, uşor schizo” şi „Tare în pix”. Premiul „Corul vânătorilor” i-a revenit Televiziunii Transilvania.

Petrecerea a continuat apoi până în zori. Important e că oamenii din presa locală s-au simţit foarte bine. Au arătat că ştiu nu doar să scrie şi să realizeze emisiuni, ci să se şi distreze, indiferent de vârstă. Cel puţin asta ne-a demonstrat şi Alexandru Seres, redactor-şef al Jurnalului Bihorean, însoţit de soţia sa Monica Seres, şi de toată echipa Jurnalului Bihorean şi a portalului Bihor Online. În local s-au evidenţiat şi alţi presari din partea: Antena 1, Televiziunea Transilvania, Bihoreanul, Gazeta de Oradea sau ContrastOnline.

La canzone in un primo momento ha riscosso un buon successo piazzandosi alla numero 8 della chart inglese per poi la settimana seguente precipitare alla numero 96 entrando cosi nel guinness dei primati.Il video è un art attack di diversi live del gruppo...vi lascio alla visione..

Si todas las estaciones son el momento exacto, ¿por qué el 14 de febrero es EL DÍA? ¿cuál es la idea? ¿destrozarte en medio de las vacaciones? ¿hacerte sentir miserable a la mitad del verano? ¿por qué no el 30 de junio, por ejemplo? ¿por qué el verano es la temporada oficial del amor?

No es que me cargue el 14, pero días como estos me hacen sentir casi que cargo de conciencia por no tener a nadie que me regale flores, o a quien regalarle algo... y quieras o no, comienzan los cuestionamientos propios y, obviamente, los de tu familia. ¿Es que acaso hay algo malo? Es que la soledad por opción es un tema tan cuestionable. Sinceramente, yo no pienso que alguien haya dejado pasar al amor de la vida simplemente porque su opción en ese momento fuera mantenerse soltero. O sea! esa es la número 1 de las 10 excusas más tontas para justificar la falta de novio/a.

¿Por qué no somos más pro e incorporamos en el calendario comercial el Día de los Solteros? ¿Es que soltero y amargado es una convicción universal? ¿o es que acaso quienes estamos solteros no tenemos derecho a celebrar? Digo yo, por lo menos que una vez al año nos toque a nosotros sentirnos la guinda de la torta, porque mal que mal, el resto del tiempo nos pasamos mirando y "celebrando" el amor ajeno. Que una vez nos toque a nosotros!

En todo caso... feliz día a todos quienes tienen con quien celebrar el 14... y a quienes no, no pierdan la oportunidad de reunirse con esos a quienes más quiere y si se quiere deprimir, deprímase en comunidad! porque para eso están los amigos - solteros, claro! los con pololo/a, ni pescan! jajaja

Advertencia: Si usted es soltero/a, ni piense en salir a algún lugar público, llámese, restaurant, mall, parque, bar etc., o si quiere, salga, pero sólo si está a prueba de balas contra el romance compulsivo, sino, refúgiese en la casa de su amistad más cercana y recuerde buenos tiempos, como el 13 de febrero o planee un día feliz, como el 15 de febrero.

Hace un rato estaba escuchando una estacion de radio x internet y no se x q razon de repente se vino a mi mente una cancion romantica que la habia escuchado en estaciones de radio locales, pero no tenia idea quien cantaba esa pegajosa melodia, asi q consulte con mi tumba-burros musical y x fin supe el tema de la cancion y quien era el grupo.

Se trata nada menos que de el grupo Wet wet wet creado en los años 80's y con su mas conocida cancion "Love is all around". Algun dia escuche de este grupo, pero no lo tenia registrado dentro de mi historial, el motivo?, no lo se, asi que me di a la tarea de investigar cual era el aspecto musical y para mi sorpresa, descubri que es un banda que se dedica a las canciones melosas y romanticas, justo para estos dias de febrero, con eso de la amistad y los novios y todas esas cosas q se celebran el 14 de febrero de cada año.

Asi q ya saben, pueden agregar "Love is all around" y otras cuantas canciones del cuarteto a la lista de las tipicas canciones de amor x siempre y poder conquistar esa persona amada.. aunque sean mal correspondidos. Y si no tienen persona amada, pues de todos modos la cancion esta chida, bajenla, consiganla y escuchenla.
