Why? Because a) "Hunter Kiss" is the prequel to THE IRON HUNT, b) Meljean Brook is in it, and c) Ms. Shayne's story is freakin hot. Lucky you, Wild Thing is going to be released in Mass Market Paperback in January 2009.

Four all-new stories of feral passion.

Wild passion, yes. But feral? Makes me think of "rabid dogs" for some reason. Ha. But moving on...

ANIMAL MAGNETISM by Maggie Shayne

Macy McNamara is a veterinarian with a dirty little secret: she can communicate with animals. Humans are a different matter, earning her an unfortunate reputation. Detective Jay Harris is a player. Women fall at his feet with little work on his part, so when he comes face-to-face with Macy's cold shoulder, he finds a challenge impossible to resist. A victim's dog is shot at the scene of a rape, and Jay brings the poor animal to Macy. She not only saves the dog's life, but finds out details about the crime that only the dog knows. She must trust Jay with her secret and convince him to believe her if the serial rapist is to be stopped.

The verbal sparring between Macy and Jay is fresh and sharp. They make sparks, both inside and outside the bedroom. I love how neither is afraid to demand exactly what he or she wants from the other. Jay is a true gentleman: hot, chivalrous, protective. Yummy. "Animal Magnetism" was my first taste of Maggie Shayne, who is a finalist for this years RITA award in the paranormal category. I am definitely going back for more. This is why I love anthologies - I always find new-to-me fabulous authors!

PARADISE by Meljean Brook
Series: The Guardians, Book #3

Lucas Marsden is the leader of the vampire community in Ashland, Oregon. A string of vicious murders claims Olivia, his blood partner. Feeling overwhelming guilt at not being able to save her, he refuses to find a new food source and slowly begins to go mad. Selah, a guardian charged with protecting the world from demons, travels to Ashland on the trail of the killer. She teams up with Lucas to stop the murders, discovering that a demon is attempting to open a gate to hell by sacrificing the vampire victims. Selah is the perfect guardian, but perfection has a high price. She learns that compromise might bring her more happiness than that impossible-to-reach goal.

The beginning of this novella was slightly confusing, but the world building, as usual, was great. The love is hot. Lucas is a great hero, honorable, hot, considerate, hot, self-sacrificing. Did I mention hot?

HUNTER KISS by Marjorie M. Liu
Series: Hunter Kiss, PREQUEL

Maxine Kiss is a demon hunter, slaying those who possess humans and feed on misery. The Hunter's job is to catch and kill demons who escape the prison veil to pray on humans on earth. She is protected by five small demons that appear as tattoos on her skin by day, and materialize at night. These protectors, her "boys," have been passed down mother to daughter for generations. When they switch from mother to daughter it is a death sentence for the mother. Maxine's own mother was murdered on Maxine's 21st birthday. The boys ensure that the Hunter will have a daughter, by any means necessary. They are her only family, her life, and her death.

In Seattle Maxine comes across an unusual occurrence: possessed humans, which she calls zombies, are congregating, when they usually avoid each other. She finds the object of their concentration is a man with a flute. Grant is a former priest who can see and change the auras of people - he can even change demons, freeing them from slavery to their demon queen, Blood Mama, who lives beyond the prison veil. Some of the demons resent his power and are trying to kill him. Maxine saves his life, but Blood Mama tries again.

Told in the first person, this is a paranormal romance novella that is a prequel to an Urban Fantasy series. The love story between Grant and Maxine is not a part of the plot in The Iron Hunt. Grant is a wonderful hero, caring, understanding, compassionate. Falls in love in one day, and when told "even if we use contraception, I'm most likely going to get pregnant with a daughter, which will one day result in my death," he says "cool. I like kids." A unique guy, to say the least. lol.

WILD HEARTS IN ATLANTIS by Alyssa Day
Series: Warriors of Poseidon, Book 2

Bastien is a warrior for Atlantis, sworn to protect humanity against all threats, especially the vampires and shapeshifters. Kat is a half-shifter who cannot shift because her "gift" keeps her calm at all times, and aggression is needed to shift. When Bastien is sent as an ambassador to the shifters to convince them not to ally with the Vampires, his contact is Kat. They met before briefly, and both were struck by unrelenting passion. When they meet again, the passion sparks to life. Intensely. With much roaring. The villian is named Organos, and for the life of me I couldn't stop calling him Oregano. Spices are evil. Mwuhahahaaha.

Our Saturday night was drawing to a peaceful end despite being thrown a curveball with a grill failu

Our Saturday night was drawing to a peaceful end despite being thrown a curveball with a grill failure and thunderstorm during the July 5th family cookout. We do nothing conventionally in this house.

Baths were done, it was about 9:30 and I walked over to my son. He has his old hand-me-down computer in the corner of the back room and as I was walking over there I looked out the window, which faces the front yard, and I notice a car out front.

My son noticed me paying attention to the car and said...

"They've been out there wrestling in the back seat for about 10 minutes."

I fought back my initial smirk, pretended like is was just some innocent wrestling and went to the other end of the house to figure out what was really happening.

The "wrestling" that was going on in that car was anything BUT innocent. Despite my vision being hampered by the downpour, there was, without question, two people in the backseat either performing a rhythmic dance ritual or doing what guys and girls "do".

Despite being a homeschool family, this is really stretching the limits of what we want to be teaching here in the MTAE household. I think in a couple of years, we'll just turn on some Cinemax during one of those free weekends of movies...he should be able to pick up enough from there.

My son had already lost interest in the events taking place out front and I closed the blinds by his window to ensure the couple had a little privacy. But I was going to have to do something about this.

If I am not getting any action inside, I'll be damned if some strangers are going to experience this in my front yard.

Besides...there are all sorts of issues about the possibility of these kids, or maybe just one of them, being under the age on consent. So I called the police non-emergency number.

This number is posted on my refrigerator and I end up calling for this same reason a couple of times a year. We live at the end of a dead end street and it must have been a popular spot for the years this house sat vacant, because everyone must be telling their older brothers where to take their dates to get some action.

Out of about ten incidents, the police have only caught someone once...evidently teenage boys aren't known for parking for "a long time". By the time I call the police and the 20 minutes, it takes the police to get to the house; the deed is done and they are off to do whatever else teenagers in "love" do.

The one couple the police managed to catch "in the act" turned out to be a under aged girl (15) and a non-under aged boy (20). It ended up with them carting him "downtown". I have a police scanner and it made for very interesting listening for about an hour.

Last night, either the police car made it faster, or the boy was a little more "skilled" than the others that have frequented my street for some "action". The police car pulled up right behind them and sat for about two minutes without them noticing the viewing party.

The officer aimed the spot light and shined in right in the car. I was suprised that the feet and elbowed the were already moving at an accelerated pace, could move even faster...but they did. The officer then turned on the overhead flashing lights announcing that there was going to be a threesome in their near future. The officer let them get dressed for another two minutes before "SHE" came up to the car.

Yes! A lady officer. All I could think about was that this dude was going to be in trouble. First he probably did a lot of convincing to get this girl to do what he wanted to do, then he had to probably covince her to do this in front of my house...only to get thwarted by a female officer.

The end of the proceedings were pretty uneventful and the car ended up leaving with the guy driving away and the girl leaving in the second police car that came to the house. There was very little radio traffic from out there. There was a lot of lightning and the usual calls about house fires and school alarms being set off were dominating the airwaves.

Going out and interrupting one of these situations is not something I really wanted to do and I will keep handing these the same way since I am really not looking for a confrontation or a peepshow.

I guess it would be kind of funny for me to sneak out and get a picture for the next blog entry about this. By the time I thought about grabbing the camera for a picture of the scene, all the lights were off and the star had already left the scene of the crime.

For you readers, I promise to do better next time with some crime scene photos. Just of the police cars and lights flashing, not of the actual participants.

In the April of 1999 I went town to Binghamton University with a few friends from Syracuse to catch that school's year end Student only concert or block party, or whatever they call that thing down there. While I was certainly not an undergrad at that particular university, I was definitely a fan of the headlining act on the bill. After sitting through a few mediocre bands including some guy named David Mead who sounded like your average white guy Jack Johnson/Dave Matthews hippie crooner the day's anticipation gave way to satisfaction as Liz Phair took the stage. Before she started into her set I had been filled with skepticism because a friend who had previously seen her play sometime during the run of her first two albums had told me that she wasn't very good live. Not only was Ms. Phair excellent that day, but she had blown me away with an assorted selection of songs from her first three albums, 1993's landmark Exile In Guyville, her able 1994 follow up Whip Smart and her more recent, slightly more adult sounding, but still ever so enjoyable whitechocolatespaceegg.

Despite having heard of her tentative stage demeanor and previous disappointing performance, there was a certain confidence that her songs exuded that made up for maybe not the most dynamic stage presence. I wasn't expecting a KISS show and I didn't get one. I got a quality rock show from a great artist at the peak of her performing powers.

Fast forward two months later, I was living with that same friend who had raised doubt about Ms. Phair's performance prowess in April, at an NYU dorm on 10th Street and 3rd Avenue as we were both ensconced in Summer internships for the next few months. One evening my brother called me with the news that the same Liz Phair of whom both my roommate and I were huge fans was playing a show at a Calvin Klein event and we would be able to grace the venue with our attendance despite it being a charity event to which we were not contributing any funds.

Later that evening we witnessed a very intimate set that probably consisted of no more than seven or eight songs. Before the show, my brother was backstage taking photographs for the event and got the artist in question to autograph a bag for me. Being the pathetic fan that I was, I held that bag up to try and show Liz the entire show. I was twenty years old and I was an idiot. Nonetheless, it was a rare experience that I probably didn't think I could ever duplicate.

Several weeks ago, while looking through a bevy of emails in my Inbox deciding what to trash, I came upon a bulletin which alerted me to a special show at Hiro Ballroom featuring the distinguished Miss Phair, who would be performing her 1993 opus Exile In Guyville in it's entirety. Thrilled at the prospect I immediately asked my friend if he was interested in going and when the time came around to attempt to purchase tickets, I was on it. Unfortunately, "on it" meant more like cable company on it or electric company on it. I was an hour too late and by the time I placed my order for ticketmaster the two night run was all sold out.

However, yesterday afternoon, as I sat in dispose in a very private area of my house, I received a text message from my friend Marie. In said text message it inquired as to whether I had any interest in attending Liz Phair's performance the very next day for the show at Hiro Ballroom that I could not get tickets for. Jazzed isn't a good way to describe how I felt, but I'd like it to suffice for now. I immediately accepted her invitation throwing any other plans I might have had for Thursday evening into the recycling bin of alcoholic indulgence. I've had my issues with Ms. Phair's musical output over the past few years, but this was a one of a kind experience that I was not going to miss.

It was around 7pm this evening when I left my apartment in Park Slope to meet Marie in Manhattan for the show. I was running a little late because I was fumbling with a few personal belongings, deciding if I needed to bring my iPod on the train or something to read. God forbid I had to spend thirty minutes on the 2/3 not listening to music or reading something. What did people do before the advent of electronics? I'm sure they weren't too concerned about occupying their time in transport when they were sitting in the back of the wagon dying of hay fever or wondering where there next meal came from. In any case, I decided to go it without musical or literary accompaniment and rough it. I did have my camera with me, but that was for the show.

I got out of the Subway at 14th Street and 7th Avenue at exactly 7:29, one minute before I was to meet Marie. Fortunately, Marie is a patient person because I still had a few blocks to walk as Hiro was at the corner of 16th and 9th. When I happened upon Marie she was reading as people are wont to do when they're waiting, we said our hellos. Marie had gotten the tickets for free from her promoter friend who I met outside the door and who also was generous enough to give us drink tickets. This was the life. When we got inside we found that we had a booth reserved for us and two other people as well. Things were getting better before they got worse. It was certainly a dose of good fortune.

The rest of our night would be a mixture of feast and famine. At around 8:35pm as Marie and I enjoyed our maiden drink, Liz Phair stepped out on stage to a warm applause and a high level of enthusiasm. She alerted the audience that she was wearing heels and made an allusion to a lyric in the first song off of Exile in Guyville saying that tonight she'd be standing 6'' 1' instead of 5'' 5 adding three inches to the latter number. And just like that she was off launching into "6'1", her shaky, nearly monotone timbre filling the room with a palpable excitement. The characterization of her voice isn't meant to be an insult, it's what gives her music such rich character. It's not concerned with being pretty, it's more along the lines of a bluntly honest conversational tone that's not being sugar coated with melisma or acrobatics that span the vocal ranges. Conversely, that's probably the reason her fans have largely ignored her last two albums as they seemed to be efforts to craft pretty pop songs over forthright ones. I guess you can't blame a girl for trying to make some money.

In the early going, Marie and I noticed a group of girls standing to the right of our booth. In our estimation, they couldn't have been over the age of 24. We assumed they were in the audience to either hear her more recent pop songs, despite the fact that it was plain by the reason for the show that those songs wouldn't be played. They were dressed as if they were going to see Sex And The City on opening night, despite the fact it had already occurred. The lot of them had Cosmos in their hand and were blabbing aloud over the music during "Glory" and Marie turned to them and gave them a nice "Shush!" It was then that these kids retreated to the bar in back of our booth where I heard one of them utter, "it's her 21st birthday! Let's do shots!" So yes, these girls were six years old when Exile In Guyville was released. As they stood in the back getting their drunk on and loudly cavorting, Liz Phair continued to play her landmark album that these girls probably could've taken a lesson or two from.

With the kids relegated to the rear of the venue fading in and out of earshot and probably taking frequent cigarette breaks, a new threat to musical enjoyment emerged. A couple that looked to be on their second or third date who were perpetually at that point in the date where conversation just flows stood nearby datin' and conversatin' with little to no regard for the surrounding masses. The girl sitting next to Marie shushed them, and they dropped out for a bit. They along with the girls got repeated scoldings, but were fairly unaffected. New rule: if someone has to tell you more than once at a rock concert to shut up, you're talking too loud and you're probably a huge asshole.

All distractions aside, the show itself was really enjoyable. I think the thing that kind of caught me off guard about it was that I had never seen an entire show that was just one album played straight through. There was no mystery about what would come next. I knew that "Canary" would be followed by "Mesmerizing", "Fuck and Run", "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Divorce Song".

Another positive thing that caught my attention was the amount of maturity in the audience. It wasn't only that most of the crowd resembled the same late 20's to late 30's indie rock fans of yore, but also it was the maturity level. Nobody yelled in celebration when the C word was uttered during "Dance of The Seven Veils" and there was not one morsel of merriment sounded when she alerted the males in the audience she wanted to be their "blow job queen" during "Flower". It was all very refreshing and quite a delight to experience.

I took measured delight as the album motored along towards the end. I thought back fondly on singing along to both "Stratford On Guy" and "Strange Loop" on my long car rides to and from Syracuse and realized that I hadn't listened to Guyville straight through in a very long time. By the end of the show I was extremely glad that I was getting the chance to run through the whole thing yet again, but this time with a live flavor.

As the last note in Strange Loop was sounded and Liz thanked everyone, I wondered how much if any of an encore she could come out for. She was only supposed to play one album. Had she planned any more surprises. She was only playing four dates on this tour, I couldn't imagine she had rehearsed a terrible many songs.

After the tiniest of waits, she came out yet again and sat down at the piano, hammering out a great version of "Chopsticks" off of Whip-Smart, followed by "May Queen" off of that same album, which had been yelled out as a request when she re-took the stage. Her guitar playing was a tad bit tentative but it was understandable. It seemed as though it had been awhile since playing these songs and it's not always like riding a bike. Take it from me. I'm not a musician.

The show finished up on a positively unique and rather fun note. Liz started off playing her take on the famed classic rock song "Wild Thing" which was part of her Girlysound Demos from before Exile. Obviously rusty, she stopped playing at one point and solicited help from a guy in the front row. She let him come up on stage and help out. At first she thought he was just going to sing the lyrics, but he took over on guitar duties and allowed her to pick up the lyrics of the last verse. Finally, the show ended with a decent rendition of "Polyester Bride" that sent this audience member home plenty happy.

We do live in Boca Raton - translation: "mouth of the rat."

Speaking of rats...

This evening, Cubs was letting the dogs in from the back yard (as we all do - so many times each day) when he said, "Oh my gosh! There's a dead rat out there." So we did what all families would do - we rushed out to see it! However, we didn't stay long because the odor was already so bad...as were the flies.

That's Dear taking care of business - while I take photos! (I am SO supportive).

You've seen the photos I've posted of iguanas and the racoon but who knew the rats here were so big? I swear that it was a good 6 inches long! Apparently, rats are about as prevalent here in Boca as iguanas. It made me think of a funny story a friend told us when we first moved here. She was attending a nice outdoor party one evening in a very well-to-do neighborhood here in Boca. Everyone was having a lovely time. All of a sudden, my friend saw a huge rat run through the backyard - as did the hostess. Instead of acting as if her luxury home should be exempt from the furry little creature, the gracious hostess said, "Well, it IS one of God's creatures...so I guess we will have to love it too."

Well another rough day today as my laptop died on me. So while I wait to get it fixed, I have very limited access to the net. I am actually doing this in Word and saving it for later to post. I just didn’t want to miss a day of Operation Topps. Because if I miss one day, I might miss multiple days and that’s not good. I just wanted to let everyone know about Stale Gum’s site, Chris always puts up some entertaining posts and this one from a few days ago is hysterical if you were a fan of MTV’s “The State”. I looked on youtube for a clip of this, but I came up empty, however if you go here, you can see it. Watch this clip, then read Chris’s post on a Beckett meeting and I think you’ll appreciate it more. Anyways, here is pack 18.

1. Ray Searage – P – White Sox – 149 – Ray was a career reliever with a very unimpressive resume. In 1987 he went 4-3/4.20/1.44 in just over 50 games. He was a lefty and we all know the lefties get to stay in the league as long as they can throw. His fun fact was that he enjoys scuba diving and fishing in his spare time. Also he has worked as a carpenter.
2. Vida Blue – P – Giants – 260 – He is an answer to one of my questions a while back. Who are the members of the Cy Young/MVP in the same year club. Well Vida won both in 1971. Vida retired in 1986 so no stats for him in 1987. His fun fact was that he threw 35 TD passes as a high school senior.

3. Luis Aquino – P – Blue Jays – 301- Luis may have spent some of 1986 in the bigs, but it didn’t translate into a call-up in 1987. He spent that year in Syracuse. His fun fact was that he was selected as Kinston’s (A+) MVP in 1984.
4. Mike Schmidt – NL All Star – 597 – This card has the NL leaders in home runs in 1986. Mike was on top of that list with a mere 37 homers. Could you imagine a person hitting 37 and being the league leader? I guess I’m just spoiled by the HGH era.

5. Joel Skinner – C – Yankees – 626 – Joel was a career backup catcher and this was his second year in the Bronx. He was known mainly for his defensive skills which is why he could put up 0.137/3/14 in 139 at bats and still have a job the next year. His fun fact was that he was one of four sons of fomer major leaguer Bob Skinner. He and his wife have one daughter.
6. Dave Henderson – OF – Red Sox – 452 – In 1987 Dave split the season between the Red Sox and the Giants and thanks to injury issues had one of the worst seasons of his career. In 1987 he went 0.234/8/26 in just under 225 at bats. This wouldn’t be the end for Dave, quite the opposite as we will see later. His fun fact was that he was an All American in high school football.
7. Ray Soff – P – Cardinals – 671 – Ray was a reliever for the Cardinals in 1987, his last season in the bigs, and only pitched in 12 games. His record was 1-0/6.46/1.50. His fun fact was that his biggest baseball thrill was the 1976 State Championship with the Blissfield (Mich.) High School. I would have thought it was his call up to the bigs.
8. Mike Maddux – P – Phillies – 553 – Want to see what the brother of a superstar looks like? I give you Greg’s substantially less talented older brother Mike. Mike may have broke into the bigs quicker than Greg but as a career spot starter, but that’s about a ll he had on Greg. In 1987 he put together a nice season when he went 2-0/2.65/1.29 in 7 games. Mike has no fun fact on his card.
9. Terry Puhl – OF – Astros - 693 - Terry’s days of starting were over by this point in his career. He was relegated to short backup duty and went 0.230/2/15 in 122 at bats. His fun fact was that he attended high school in Sask., Canada and that he and his wife have a daughter and a son.
10. Mitch Williams – P – Rangers – 291 – He looks like a very young Wild Thing in this picture. 1987 was his second season in the bigs and he was already carving out a nice niche as a setup guy. In 1987 he went 8-6/3.23/1.45, hey they didn’t call him Wild Thing for nothing. He also had six saves that year. His fun fact was that his brother Bruce played in the Brewer’s farm system.
11. Lee Lacy – OF – Orioles – 182 – This was actually Lee's final year in the majors. He was a starter right up until this year. He went 0.244/7/28 not a bad season at all when you consider that he was 39 and in his last season. Even though his card is chuck full of stats, his fun fact says that he and his wife have a daughter.
12. Bret Saberhagen – P – Royals – 140 – An odd year for Saberhagen so you know he did pretty well. He had that whole odd year good, even year bad thing going for a while. In 1987 he went 18-10/3.36/1.16, and got to be in his first All Star game. His fun fact was that his son was born during the World Series and that he won the coveted Babe Ruth award (a little help here, I'm not sure what that is).

13. Curt Ford – OF – Cardinals - 399 – Not to be confused with Curt Flood, who started the whole free agent thing. Curt Ford was a career back up for the Cards and the Phils. In 1987 he was with the Cards and went 0.285/3/26, at least he was a one tool player. His fun fact was that he was All-District, All-State, MVP and All-Metro selection in high school. He majored in Recreation Administration at Jackson St. Is that a jock major or what?
14. Ron Darling – P – Mets – 75 – In the mid 80's Ron was one of the most consistently good pitchers there was. It was completely overshadowed by Doc Gooden, but man he put up at least 12 wins a year from 1984-1989. Quite impressive, including in 1987 when he went 17-9/3.25/1.16, no Cy Young votes and no All Star appearance, how crappy is that? His fun fact was that he was co-chairman of the NY State Youth Drug Prevention Campaign. He played 2 years of football at Yale while working on his degree in history.
15. Juan Espino – C – Yankees – 239 – I had to check him out since I had never heard of him. It's for good reason too, he only had 73 at bats, spread out over 4 years. He didn;t even play in 1987, 1986 was his last season. His fun fact was that he lead Eastern League (AA) catchers with a 0.987 fielding percentage in 1978.
16. Ron Guidry – P – Yankees – 375 – This was the year, that after a terrible 1986, you wanted to see if he could turn it around. I mean he did win 22 games in 1985, so it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. But in 1987 he had another bad season, he went 5-8/3.67/1.27 in what would be one of his worst seasons. His fun fact is that he is proficient in playing the drums.
17. Pete O’Brien – 1B – Rangers - 17 - Pete was a solid hitter all throughout his career and in 1987 he was 29 years old and right in the middle of his peak years. He went 0.286/23/88 in yet another fine season, definitely one of the overlooked guys from the 80s. His fun fact was that he works for the Cystic Fibrosis 65 Roses Club and makes appearances on behalf of the Rangers.

Overall this was a pretty good pack. Right off the cuff I'm thinking 4.5 stars. Which by my standards are pretty decent. I have to apologize, I am using an old laptop and don't have any photo editing solftware. I am going to post the photos of these cards tomorrow when I get back my laptop. Hopefully you all understand and if not, Oh Well. Don't forget to check out Chris's stale gum site, he is after all the longest running blogger around.

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger -

Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern was secretly videotaped kvetching about The Gays at a Republican party meeting.

“I honestly think it's the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam. ... The homosexual agenda is a very real threat to the sacred institution of marriage and the traditional family unit … If you have cancer in your little toe, do you just say that I'm going to forget about it since the rest of you is fine? It spreads! This stuff is deadly and it is spreading. It will destroy our young people and it will destroy this nation.”

Since then, Ms. Kern has been busy defending her comments while lashing out at her lesbian and gay neighbors both for trying to blocking her speech and for releasing the video on YouTube.

“They want to silence anyone who does not approve their lifestyle. They want their freedom but don't want those who disagree to have their freedom.”

Now I could say a bunch of lofty stuff about “with freedom comes responsibility” and “I may not agree with you but I will defend with my life your ability to say it.” But the issue here is not one of freedom to hate – the Boy Scouts proved that’s already in our Constitution – but the freedom to love. Can our democracy overcome the false teachings of Ms. Kern and extend the freedom to marry to all her people?

It can, Governor, with your help.

Yours,

What's a girl to do the morning after a bad night? (really bad dream about a fox trying to eat my Nash arghhh!) - eat crumpets & butter. Not just any old crumpets, they have to be Wartburtons as they are probably the best crumpets in the world (Sunblest don't even get a look in!). The butter? well - it can be either 'Country Life' or 'Lurpak' (I'm not fussy am I lol) and you MUST serve crumpets with a huge mug of tea....drink tea, lot's of tea!

Like this, look!

By the time I had finished eating 4 Warburtons Crumpets with butter and tea from my favourite mug (thank you to my friend who gave it to me *hugs*) I felt almost human.

Later today I intend to have a relaxing soak in the bath and I will be using one of my favourite LUSH products - 'Dreamwash' which I bought a few days ago.

To bath with LUSH products is a devilishly good experience.

Later this evening - I am going to be daring and naughty and behave like a totally wild thing! and make...........drum roll..............

Pomegranate Martinis!

Yay! to being a wild thing..........*giggle*

Just incase you are wondering, my neck is giving me 15 types of gip this morning but I am trying not to think about it or I may be temped to s.c.r.e.a.m.

Christmas Spirits

Aside from the snow, the downside to all these Christmas parties and gatherings and the such, is the need for there to always be a designated driver. Normally I don't mind being the sober one, but once in a while, I do like to indulge....which is kinda hard when no one else has a car.

This means, that if by some chance any of you see videos of me on YouTube, singing obnoxious karaoke version of Wild Thing, believe me when I tell you, that I was 100% sober.
Yes, I know there are videos and pictures out there, due to all the camera phones that suddenly popped up when I took the microphone...

In Other News

It has been a busy week for movies. I've seen I Am Legend, Enchanted and Walk Hard. None of them were terrible movies, but I felt that they were all lacking something. It's sad when they are outdone by the trailers at the start of the film.... like the new trailer for The Dark Knight. The new Joker seems....interesting.... Still, I feel that one is going to be an amazing film....same with Get Smart. They've been talking about making that a movie for years, and now the release date is less than a year away. I'm fairly certain that next summer will be a very good year for movies.

I bought my tickets to see Henry Rollins this week. I'll be picking them up sometime after Christmas. I found out about him coming here just hours before the pre-sale tickets went online, and I just happened to have the pre-sale password. Unfortunatly, five minutes before they went on sale, the Ticketmaster website went down, so I had to do it all over the phone. Still, even thought it took like, 10 minutes longer than it should have, we still got really good seats, about six rows from the stages....just like the Ozzy/Rob Zombie concert.

By the end of the week, I found myself with a lot of spare time on my hands at work, and since one of my co-workers missed the day, I figured I'd take it upon myself to help him out upon his return this Monday. Because three days is a long time, and it's easy to forget things within that time, I decided to put a postit note on everything in his cubical, and write down what what each thing is. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see his reaction tomorrow. He's going to be one of the guys training me for my new position in the new year, and I figure that will give me plenty of opportunities to do more stuff like this. Pictures can be seen below.

Tomorrow will probably be a short day at work, so right after I pay my electric bill, I'll be doing the Christmas thing with the family, so I don't think I'll be making any posts tomorrow. That said, Merry Christmas, and I'll be back later in the week. Have a good one folks!

KICKING OFF A YEAR OF EVENTS, RELEASES, & GENERAL MAYHEM Commemorating Delicious Vinyl's 20th Anniversary, DV Announces Release of Tone-Loc + Peaches "Wild Thing" 20th Anniversary Version! Some marriages are made in heaven. Some get consummated in a booty club. And every once in a very great while...if you're lucky enough... you get both.Exactly twenty years after the release of Tone-Loc's scandalous rap classic "Wild Thing" - then the fastest selling single in record industry history - Delicious Vinyl is proud to announce the release of a special duet version of "Wild Thing" featuring none other pioneering electro goddess Peaches. The question on everyone's mind of course, is who's gonna be wearing the pants in this partnership? Tone? Peaches? To which we can only say: What pants? From the laboratory in her Berlin bunker, Peaches has created a sizzling, bass-laced track, updating the original Matt Dike/Mike Ross production for today's active lifestyles, and adding her own vocals to Tone-Loc's immortal rap. You'll have to hear it to believe it. And even then..."Wild Thing" will be available in 12" vinyl format (via Traffic Distribution) on November 13. It's sure to be a must-have in the record bags of DJs and an essential download for groovers worldwide. In addition to the main version, the Fontana Distributed CD Maxi Single (like the 12") will include an instrumental version, an acapella, bonus beats, and a special beat box version of the track courtesy of Tez. This new version of "Wild Thing" had its preview debut at a special party held on September '07 at the revered Tape Club in Berlin, Germany, hosted by Peaches herself. And make no mistake, this release is just the beginning of something very special. Over the next twelve months, Delicious Vinyl will release a full slate of the label's classic records re-imagined by artists including A-Trak, Diplo, Hot Chip, Spank Rock, Bonde Do Role, Ed Banger's Mr. Flash & DJ Medhi onto an unsuspecting public. Of course, that public still fondly remembers Delicious artists whose tunes will be featured, including The Pharcyde, Masta Ace, The Brand New Heavies, Def Jef, and Born Jamericans. Each release will be available on CD Maxi Single, 12", and will have a special party in a different city to celebrate its release (Stay tuned for more dates and locations to be announced soon). The tracks will be collected on a special Delicious Reimagined full-length album slated for release in 2008.Link to title inside iTunes store
