Ok, I have a confession to make - When I said that my internet connection problems were fixed when I

Ok, I have a confession to make - When I said that my internet connection problems were fixed when I installed Service Pack 3, I wasn't really being honest with you. The thing is, when I posted that, it WAS fine. But, soon, I realised, it was just a coincidence. I was too embarrassed to admit I was wrong. So, basically, what I mean is, I'm back to hating BSNL [Never stopped, I guess].

Anyway, two days ago, I got so bugged up because of my conn probs that I decided to reinstall Windows XP - [IMPRUDENCE ALERT!!]. I wanted to format my C drive and install XP, but it wouldn't let me [This partition cannot be deleted because the temporary setup files are stored in this partition]. At one point, there were two Windows XPs in my C drive!!!

Finally, I had to dig out my Windows 2000 CD, install that [ah, the memories], and then install XP over it. My comp is completely empty right now - I've just begun hunting down everything I need - drivers, audio/video players, browser plug-ins, browsers etc. So irritating. The only good thing out of this fiasco is that everything runs so quickly - Booting, shutdown, everything! And in case you're wondering, reinstalling has made no difference - Internet connection still sucks.

I've decided to cut down on Microsoft's shiteous softwares - I'm not reinstalling Norton Anitvirus, or MS Office. Instead, I'm jumping on the free bandwagon - Avast Home Edition and OpenOffice. I've been such a stickler for Norton that I've never tried any other antivirus. It's time. What right does Microsoft have to stuff Windows Media Player, Windows Messenger and Internet Explorer down our throats? Ugh. I've already gone on rampage deleting every shortcut to Internet Explorer [Home of all nasties].

Hey, I can now type Spanish characters with my keyboard - I changed my keyboard settings [from US to US International], and now, typing ' and a together gives me á. Nice.

Have I mentioned before that I watched Across The Universe? OMG - I've never understood or appreciated the hoopla over The Beatles [having been born in 1990], but after the movie, I'm taking it all in - The songs are so beautiful, especially Dear Prudence and Across The Universe.

Hmm, I seem to have a lot to say, don't I? Oh yeah, I'm going to watch Indian Jones and the something of the whatever. As you can see, I'm not the greatest fan of the series. For starters, I'm far too young to have seen the earlier Indiana Jones movies. Hell, I don't even like the genre. I don't like Pepaw Harrison Ford either. There are two reasons why I'm watching this sure-to-be yawn fest:

1. I'm going with my friends. Finally! We've been trying to go out somewhere for the past three or four weeks, but somehow, it never works out.

2. Cate Blanchett !!!! Can you name an Oscar-winning actress who'd be willing to stoop to act in a popcorn action summer flick?

P.S: WTF?? What was India's prized possession a.k.a the world's most beautiful ice queen doing at the Indie Jones red carpet?

G2g - Here's Dear Prudence [Across the Universe version]

Remove XP Messenger® from Windows XP.

Introduction: For most users who don’t use Microsoft Outlook - Windows Messenger, I would recommend you to use the script, which is shown bellow.
Looking for a web messenger of Windows Messenger? Or better yet, one that works with the Wii’s

Looking for a web messenger of Windows Messenger? Or better yet, one that works with the Wii's internet browser? Messenger FX, http://www.messengerfx.com/, has you covered. This nifty website allows you to control a lookalike of MSN Messenger, complete with rearrangeable and maximizable windows.

As the above image says, "You can use your MSN® Messenger account for login. Your passwords encrypted with 1024-bit RSA keys." I've been using this site for quite some time, and can ensure that it does not harvest and steal passwords.

As seen above, you can change your font, font color, do bolds/italics/underlines, add users, change your status, etc. All windows are fully draggable and resizable.

All in all, MessengerFX is pretty much bug-free. One noticeable bug on the wii is that you must wait several seconds after you log on before being able to send messages. This bug doesn't seem to affect computer users. (that I know of)

http://www.messengerfx.com/

Rating - 8/10. Comparable to Meebo's windows messenger. Better than most other web messengers.

Related Web Messengers: Meebo http://meebo.com, Windows Web Messenger http://webmessenger.msn.com

One that's not a record breaking new idea, but an idea to deal with something some people, including me, find hard to deal with. ever chatted with someone who just disconnected without saying goodbye? Or ever been in the middle of a chat and there's no response from the other? You just sit there waiting, doing nothing basically, just waiting for the other to come back online , to respond. Only to be disappointed, or insulted, when the person suddenly switches from online to away and finally, after an hour of time wasted, to offline. This insensitive behaviour can cause people to be insulted, baffled or worse, hurt deeply, feeling neglected.

This patent is about: "A facility is described for automatically sending goodbye messages. In various embodiments, the facility receives an indication to terminate a conversation session that was previously established to exchange messages with a converser. The facility then retrieves a goodbye message, sends the goodbye message to the converser, and terminates the conversation session."

"Ending a conversation without first sending an appropriate communication or other content can sometimes be misunderstood by a converser with whom a conversation is ended. As an example, a converser may be insulted when the user terminates a conversation without saying goodbye or may consider it to be rude to end a conversation abruptly without a communication that the conversation is ending. However, in some cultures, it can be difficult to provide such language to end a conversation. As an example, in some cultures it can be difficult to say goodbye to another person. Users who are in a rush may also find it difficult to end a conversation politely. Moreover, because messaging systems are generally textual, it can be difficult to provide other visual or auditory cues that humans generally provide when they converse in person."

In other words, it will be automated, but at least it is a better system then people not saying bye, goodbye, or telling you they're going to be away for a while. That way we finally know what the other is up to and don't waste our time waiting and, after the other disconnects, worrying about "what did I do wrong to make him/her disconnect without saying goodbye?" Let's hope MS implements this feature soon, very soon, before things that appear cracks will be broken forever.
