i really dont like flashes... lol i just didnt like it. hahha. all the photos i take is wihout the use of flash. but just figured sometimes using a flash will be a better exposure so i decided to go buy one. hopefully, i can get use to the flash soon...  below are some shots i was messing around with. made the room pretty dark. camera setting was 1/500sec F5.6 ISO speed 100 with flash on for this shot. speedlite was set to E-TTL at the moment.

o, it was a bit to dark even with the flash :( for this shot, setting was 1/100sec F5.6, ISO speed at 1600 with the speedlite set at -2 1/3.

hmmm.... not quite... just changed the speedlite to +1 1/3 instead of +3. the flash seems to be thrown more in tha back. why? lol hahha i gotta study more about these stufs.

He is my first SD ever. His name is too long so I'll just call him my Evil Tangerine :) *I'm assuming hes a bad guy* He was a simple build,with only 3 sprue's,2 little rubber sprue's,and a mini sticker sheet,taking about 20 minutes to complete. Got him from ANIME KING on EBay for 11 bucks. *By the way he is a great seller,with fast shipping too. *He was a lot shorter then I expected,only 3 & 1/2 inches tall O.O,puny dude. But he does come with a lot of weaponry. Surprisingly I thought the white part on his shield would be molded in color but it wasn't,instead it was converted as a sticker:( The box art is pretty cool too. He looks cute because of his shrimpy size but he's vicious...Sorta like a Pomeranian haha XD

I'm going to have to reread it... so expect the review in about a week or so.

I recently learned that Nyoron Fansubs was subbing the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Yoshiyuki Tomino's 1979 military sci-fi series that was responsible for establishing the Real Robot genre (which Macross/Robotech later expanded upon). Since I'm a huge fan of the original Gundam universe, I decided to watch it. I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw.

For such an old series, the animation in Gundam is surprisingly good. It does look a little dated, but it is far superior to the American animation being produced at that time, and is even better than some later Japanese series (1982's Macross or the first season of Sailor Moon in 1992). Despite being dated, the giant robot designs are still just as impressive as they were thirty years ago... especially Zeon's mainstay unit, the MS-05 Zaku II.

The Zaku is my favorite mobile suit from the original series. It's design embodies the concept of the Real Robot genre... the idea that the giant robot should be treated as a realistic machine; something that runs out of ammo and breaks down. The Real Robot is manufactured and used by military forces, and is not unique or ultra-powerful like the Super Robots that came before Gundam (such as Gigantor or Mazinger Z). Gundam is the first series that brought realism to the Giant Robot genre.

Gundam is also known as being extraordinarily scientifically accurate... to the point of being the most scientifically accurate Gundam series to date. Of course, there is some degree of inherent scientific inaccuracy concerning giant robots fighting in space... but virtually everything in Gundam has a plausible (if somewhat technobabble-filled) explanations for everything from how giant robots maneuver in space to how energy weapons work. In order to explain much of its technology, Gundam uses a theoretical particle called the 'Minosvsky particle'. Unlike other 'magic technologies' (i.e. Star Wars' hypermatter, Star Trek's dilithium or Stargate's naquadah), the Minovsky particle actually has a well-thought-out scientific explation behind it. I won't go into details here, but you can read all about it on Wikipedia's article on Minovsky Physics. The various Gundam series tend to accuratly follow the laws of Minovsky physics.

This reflects an interesting way of writing science fiction. Although it is neccesarry to include unrealistic and scientifically impossible elements in almost every science fiction story, an author should carefully define a set of physics that fits his narrative needs, then follow those physics precisely. This will help to reinforce the reader's suspension of disbelief. To what degree the author explains his physics in the story is up to the individual author; athough providing a more detailed explanation leads to a greater sense of authenticity, it is inevitable that someone will spot a scientific flaw in your work if its too detailed. Overall, I think Gundam finds a good solution to this problem... Minovsky physics are explained in just enough detail to drive the narrative in the show itself, and more detailed information on it is available in enthusiast material such as the MS Encyclopedia.

Well, that more or less ends my thoughts on the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Nyoron is promising to release new episodes of it soon (they're up to episode 10), and they'll be releasing the new ones with a textless opening. If what I wrote about it intriques you, check it out!

hola again!

Hoy es el turno de enseñar mis primeras maquetas de Gundam, no es que sea un otaku del anime, pero la verdad es que cuando vi el Gundam Exia 1:60 de Jorge "taiwan boy" en españa  que su primo de taiwan le mandó importado de Japón me quedé impresionado, el poder montarlo y pintarlo a tu gusto, además de ser muy entretenido, me cautivó  tanto que no pude resistir la tentación de hacerme con ellos.

La estectica de los gundam siempre me ha encantado, sobre todo la época en la que el diseño gráfico seguia mucho la estética creada por Republic Designers imitando gráficamente el estilo de los anime como Gundam.

Como no pude resistir, me metí en Ebay y me compre {controlandome}  cuatro kits de distintas series de Gundam, guiandome más por la estética de cada uno, aunque ha decir verdad, la que más me gusta es la Gundam Mobile Suit 00 { el de la foto que precede }, porque es la que como antes he dicho más se asemeja al diseño gráfico de los diseñadores nombrados anteriormente.

Es muy entretenido, además de simple el desmontar las piezas de la matriz y montarlos mientras escuchas algo de música tranquilo sentado en la silla del escritorio. Cuando me llegaron { un viernes, que es el único día que por la tarde no trabajo  }, terminé de comer y primero me propuse hacer solo uno y dejarme los demás para otros días, pero el ansia de verlos montados, y el "gustico" que daba soltar las piezas me pudo, y acabé montando los 4 en unas 3 horas.

Ahora que ya he saciado este "ansia" de montar unos Gundam, he decidido que el próximo que me compre será como mínimo una escala 1:100, ya que estos son 1:144 y tienen poco detalle, además de ser muy pequeños para pintarlos, y creo que uno más grande me llenará más de ímpetu por montar y crear un escenario. No lo sé, pero la verdad es que si sois un poco mañosos y os gustan las figuritas, este es un buen comienzo.

Si os habéis dado cuenta, en la foto donde aparecen las cajas, hay una que pertenece a un Zaku Phantom azul, de ese no he hecho foto, ya que está en el escritorio del trabajo, pero podéis verlo en este link.

En esta oportunidad comentaré sobre esta serie de 6 ovas que forma parte de la mitica saga Mobile Suit Gundam, guerra en el bolsillo fue la primera serie de ovas de Gundam y sirvió para conmemorar el decimo anirversario del estreno de la serie original, es una historia alterna que se enfoca en las vivencias de un niño de 11 años durante la Guerra de un año.

Alfred (Al) Izuruha es un niño de 10 años que va a la escuela primaria, él como varios de sus compañeros está obsecionado con la guerra que está tomando lugar en las colonias, la guerra de un año, él como sus amigos se morian por tener algo de la guerra, cartuchos de balas, insignias de la federación o de Zeon, cualquier cosa que sea una referencia a la guerra, Un buen día mientras hablaba con sus amigos sobre la guerra y los Mobile Suits cuando uno de ellos muestra un Pin de la Federación, asegurando que su hermano lo consiguió y que era de un piloto de Mobile Suit, una de sus compañeras de clases al escuchar esto se acerca a ellos para negar todo lo que dicen alegando que la Federacion no tiene unidades mobiles, sin embargo, Al por querer ganar la conversación insiste en que la federación si tiene Mobile Suits ya que en una oportunidad vió uno, pero cuando su compañera le pide pruebas este no hace más que quedarse callado... Ahora motivado por sus amigos desea encontrar pruebas de que la Federación tiene unidades mobiles se logra infiltrar en las instalaciones del ejercito de la Federación, filmando todo a su paso llega a un lugar de descargas donde solo logra ver un avión y una gran "caja" amarilla, pero naa de Mobile Suits, luego de que alguien del personal lo pillara y lo sacara de allí se revela que en la gran caja amarilla hay un Gundam.

Otro día la colonia neutral Libot se convierte en el sitio de una batalla entre Mobile Suits, cuando un Zaku (Mobile Suit de Zeon) comienza a caer, Al no duda en seguirlo para ver si puede conseguir algún Souvenir, nuevamente con camara en mano logra filmar el Zaku del cual sale un joven piloto Bernard "Bernie" Wiseman quien logra hacerse con la camara de Al, cuando la lleva con el personal de Zeon se dan cuenta del video de las instalaciones de la Federación y notan la descarga del avión. Zeon al darse cuenta de esto, asume que Side 6 no es neutral como decían ser sino que está con la Federación, como castigo quieren acabar con esta colonia desplegando una explosión nuclear.

Bueno más o menos ese es el argumento de esta serie de 6 ovas que para variar nuestra practicamente el desenvolvimiento del ataque desde el punto de vista de Zeon, tambien desde el punto de vista de un niño que ignora los peligros de una guerra y poco a poco se va dando cuenta de que no es un simple juego de adultos, una historia diferente e interesante de la gran saga de series de Mechas, Mobile Suit Gundam, como todas (las que yo he visto de Gundam) tiene cierta carga dramatica con uno que otro toque de comedia, nada disparatado cabe resaltar, solo 6 ovas de 24 minutos cada uno, si te gustan las historias del Universo Gundam aquí está una muy buena.

Entonces me he ido a la web de Softbank y he visto el anuncio del móvil más friki de la historia. El 913SHG, un móvil que además de las más avanzadas funcionalidades japonesas, tiene un diseño personalizado para Char Aznable, el carismático personaje de Gundam. Pero eso no es todo señor@s, por que el móvil viene presentado con un estuche con forma de cabeza del MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type rojo, para que dejemos el móvil dentro y parezca el ojo del Zaku, una pasada oigan.

Visitad la web de presentación del móvil, que está muy currada y aunque no entendáis nada vale la pena. Ya sabéis lo que hay que pedirles a los Reyes Magos ;)

Gundams travel A LOT!  Hence the name Mobile Suite.  And therefore busybodies like Zaku II need their own travel luggages.  The beautifully designed MS-06F ZAK... ah forget it, who am I kiddin.  These can be purchased here in Japan for a handsome price of 250 USD.

And of course, they are limited editions.

I already thought the Zaku bike helmet looked awesome. But now Lalabit Market has rolled out another piece of Zaku merchandise to entice Federation and Zeon fans alike (The Feddies would probably set this one on fire but as long as we make a sale, it doesn’t really matter. It’s their money anyways.). Lalabit Market presents the Zaku II Cargo Bag.

Surprisingly, I’m loving the design of this one and I’m actually tempted to buy one for myself for actual travel purposes (although I’m wishing they rolled out a Hazel Gundam cargo bag but then they don’t have iconic pilots like Char Aznable so I doubt they would sell at all).

Of course, just as Bandai had released an MG Zaku II ver. 2.0 and it’s Char custom version, Lalabit Market also has a regular Zaku II cargo bag colored in green.

If I read the site right, these bags cost 25,800 yen a piece and they will be coming out this March, 2008. Preorders, anyone?

El  913SH de Sharp y Softbank parece un celular deslizable cualquiera en color negro y rojo con un logo de Zeon , y en realidad eso es. Lo destacable y atrayente de este celular es su cargador en forma de la cabeza del Zaku 2 legendario de Char , que era 3 veces mas rápido que uno normal (ojala asi de rápido lo cargue) xD...

Banpresto with Bandai released this a new panoramic Gundam simulator called Senjo No Kizuna. Sitting inside a simulator, the player controls her mech with both dual joysticks and foot pedals. Each pod is a single-seater, closed environment, has a panoramic display and is networked so players will face combatants from adjoining pods and from units in other arcades in matches of five versus five. Senjo No Kizuna also issues players a Pilot Card that stores all of their combat data and allows them to build upon their record with consecutive plays.
